I love the Scatman's story. He was just a humble musician following his jazz dream, moved from California to Berlin to do it, found worldwide stardom in his early 50s. I absolutely love his song since it came out, and have only just learned the lyrics for the first time (this slower version is good too). Well done John Larkin, you're remembered.

It’s pretty ironic that Scatman John did a tribute song for Louie Armstrong about 20 years after he was passed away, and now Lou Bega has done a tribute for Scatman now about 20 years since he went up to Scatmans world.

One of the subtle touches of this song, which I'm immensely enjoying, is how the artist's credits ordered. It's NOT credited: "Lou Bega, Scatman John." It's credited: "Scatman John, Lou Bega." Anyone could have put their own name first in the credits, but listing Scatman John first is a masterstroke of a tribute.

Born with an severe stuttering problem, loved jazz music but was afraid to do it because he thought he wouldn’t be accepted because of his stutter. Nearly died from a drug overdose but his wife saved him. They both ended up doing music and the rest is history. Truly a legend with positive, REAL, messages in his songs that have stood the rest of time. Not many folks when this song came out that were singing about their disabilities and raising awareness. Rest easy, Scatman! Also, very classy of Lou to put scatman’s name first in the title.

To me that is cool, because it ensures Scatman John's legacy lives on and a new generation can discover his catchy, one of a kind style of music. Scatman John's musical legacy might have been short, but damn did that fire burn bright during the time he was here with us. Mr. Larkin kicked serious ass, loved life and left us way too soon. To All Who Look At This Comment: Scatman John was known for his beliefs in peace, love, and inclusivity. Perhaps it seems like a leach to use his most popular song in this song, but, saying this song leaches on John's death uses the same logic that John leached on Louie's death for "Everybody, Jam!" I doubt most Scatman fans would think of Everybody Jam as a leaching song, so, in my opinion (as a Scatman fan), this song doesnt leach on John's death. If anything, it attempts to remind the current generation of his existence. So even if you dont like this song, and feel its a leach, at the very least, be like John, and be inclusive of others opinions, because at the end of the day, we are probably all here because of being Scatman John fans. Skippity-Bop.

@Private Account I actually say try listening to it at 1.1x (if you got the speed slider), because it actually makes it feel just right with Scatman's speed, and it kinda also makes the track feel like it was from the 90s.

A great tribute to a great man. At the same time this reminds me the old times, and makes me sad at the same time. I can bet we all miss him.
