Scary!!! Tornado warning in Fort Worth, Texas with Sirens

Filming a storm moving east into Fort Worth on 4-17-08. Sirens go off at 3:40. A tornado was spotted near the town of Aledo to the west earlier from this storm. Notice the green sky before the Sirens started to go off at 3:40. Sorry about the clicking sound, was using a horrible tripod.

the green color is the heart of a supercell mesocyclone, the updrafts is so strong in this area the rain gets sucked back into the atmosphere repeatedly and creates hail, the reflection of the ice, clouds, and sun make the color look green. This area is the dead center of the supercell and where the updraft is strongest, typically you wont have much wind at all in this area on the ground because the wind is literally going up, as opposed to down or side to side. The rear flank is where the rear flank downdraft is located and where the wind is usually strongest. Rotation occurs near the rear flank where the updraft and downdrafts meet and cause rotation, sometimes becoming so strong and tight that a tornado forms. My advice is if you ever see a sky that looks like this above or even near you take cover

Only supercell you gotta worry about is low topped for damaging winds due to normally extreme wind energy and not much rising as low topped supercells only reach about 20000 ft, we get alot of hslc events here in nc

Exactly. It's fun to watch these videos and hear different sirens, see different events, chase yourself, etc. However, it is a WHOLE different story when the storms come to you and there is nothing you can do. When those sirens sound, and you know it is heading your direction; your entire attitude changes VERY quickly.

99% of the time a tornado never forms, when they do, its a small chance it will come your way (if it even stays on the ground that long) I've lived in Texas most of my life and have never seen one with my own eyes...plus the sirens could go off, but the tornado will be on the other side of the city heading the opposite direction.

I've been through that kind of storm in Columbia City, Indiana. I had to go to the library with my 13(Now 14) year old sister, and 7 year old cousin. We were in a Severe Thunderstorm Warning but I only knew that because of my aunt. Just being inside a library that's mostly glass was scary and like the sky was pitch black. The sky went from like grey to almost charcoal black. When I saw the supercell forming I nearly burst into tears. But with me being 11 at the time I knew if I broke down by my 7 yr old cousin he would freak out. The sky was green and I immediately thought about a tornado. We had no Tornado Watch or Warning. The only cool thing was the rain it sort of calmed me down.

In Houston there are no tornado sirens, even though it's rare doesn't mean it won't happen. 1 ef-2 tornado went through the suburb of Katy & another tornado an ef-4 went through the east side of town in Channelview. & I think another 1 went through Aldine, which is in the north side of Houston a long time ago.

Man those clouds are scary, here in South Florida we get bad storms but not like that sometimes there is a lot of lightning and very dark clouds in the spring and summer months.

A hard tornado came in 2011 here in Texas. I was in school, and we HAD to take cover, nothing happened, only lights flickering. The tornado was about 3 or 4 blocks away. We saw green skies, i was scared :T

In ny town we never get tornados, only false warnings so a few summers ago when sirens went off we didn't think anything of it until we went outside and noticed two funnel clouds above my house. Two tornados later touched down just a mile down the road but stayed in a field.

Thanks & V good job with the video considering the situation, As far as I'm concerned, there is Nothing scarier and No place I'd rather be than that exact situation. The siren makes every tornado warning just that much better whether in person or on video.

tornado siren = Scariest noise i've ever heard, I'm from the UK, but I was walking my dog once, and I think they were testing the flood sirens because the area I live in is like a 15 minute walk away from the sea, but yeah, I was scared like hell, I have always hated the sound of these sirens purely because it signifies that shits about to go down...

is this at night? they are rare to have at night right? I've never seen one I live in a place that lately has had these scares and have had a couple touch downs but nothing to close to home. Mostly a very hilly place and rare to have them but a lot of warnings lately, hopes to be over soon.
