FYI: the dedication to Howard Hawks and Ben Hecht is for the director and writer of the original Scarface movie from 1932.

They had to edit the beginning of the movie, because the ratings group had given it an X rating. The original cut of the film showed his friend Angel get cut to pieces with the chainsaw. They cleaned that up and they then gave it an R rating.

People really were reckless with their excessive cocaine use back then. I knew sime folks from that scene back then snd I've heard the stories. Obviously the faceplant in the mountain of coke wasn't normal but public consumption was surprisingly common

The way Angel got caught unawares from behind is a perfect example of being so narrowly focused that awareness is lost of the overall surroundings. I get it's just a movie but he probably could've avoided that by looking back and forth between keeping an eye on Tony and then himself.

The people Castro expelled from Cuba were known as Marielitos. They brought and created a huge drug trade in Florida. This drug trade inspired the famous TV show Miami Vice. There is an excellent documentary about the explosion of crime in Miami that the Marielitos and Colombians headed. The title of this documentary is titled COCAINE COWBOYS. I highly recommend it.

The chainsaw scene will always terrify because not much is shown even with the blood splatter. It makes Tony hunting down and disposing of Hector the Toad all the more satisfying. Oh and the actress portraying the girl Manny was flirting with in that sequence disappeared in real life not long thereafter.

Great reaction. Legendary movie. Al Pacino is definitely the goat. This movie, to me, is a semi-documentury because it shows how the CIA helped flood American cities during the sixties and seventies with drugs and cocaine. There are two other movies that do this you might like. American Made and Blow.

    1. The first time I saw this was in a Nightclub (during the day for lunch) in Olongapo City in the PI. Hooked immediately!😎 2. Steven Bauer/Manny is the only true Cuban in the main cast. 3. Miami didn't want this filmed there because it would make the City look bad. Most outside scenes were filmed in LA. 4. My biggest takeaway was how fast Sosa got his team to rain on Tony.😱 Personal comment, Castro's now room temperature, but "Grandpa Joe" is inviting EVERYBODY into the USA now with the same results.

Hello TLG Movie Kids!😊 Yeah, Tony lied to the officials. He didn't want them to know he had family in the U.S. People loved this film when it came out in the theater. The film critics were less enthusiastic, but have come around over the years. That is a young Michelle Pfeiffer as Elvira. You guys know her as an older woman, as Hank Pym's wife from "Ant-Man and the Wasp".😉 I am glad you guys got a chance to finally watch this gangster classic!😊 The only ones that live in Tony's life is his mother, because she had nothing to with him, and Elvira because she left him. Great reactions to this power crazy drug film, Kids!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏

@@eliduncan4630 No you stated that the 1980s were more violent than 90% of the rest of time . That is wrong . Peace and stability come from people having enough money in their pockets to provide for their families . Thus post ww2 war reparations from the Axis ie Germany Japan Italy mainly for the united states I might add . That is what gave huge boost to usa but with all that cash it was like giving a bear a machine gun . Here is a little known fact those that win the wars write its history .The modern invention of the Concentration Camps wasn't Germany it was in Fact Britain during the South African Boer Wars .
