"The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)" is out now via Nuclear Blast Records.
"The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)" is the first part of a trilogy.
Per Nilsson comments: “I thought to myself... am I allowed to fuse death metal with AOR, and go extreme in both directions? I didn't ask for permission, I just went and did it, and I'm pretty excited to hear what people are gonna think about it.”
Henrik Ohlsson adds: "Limits to Infinity” unveils the malevolent plan of the elite, the hidden hand, and their discoveries regarding the secrets of the universe. The lyric elaborates on the decision makers' long-term plan to merge with machines and colonize other planets."
Track listing of "The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)":
01. The Shape Of Things To Come
02. Neohuman
03. Limits To Infinity
04. Cryonic Harvest
05. The Spiral Timeshift
06. Children Of The Integrated Circuit
07. Neuromancers
08. Technocalyptic Cybergeddon
Commented guitarist Per Nilsson: "The lyrical concept that Henrik came up with for The Singularity trilogy is huge in scope, complex and awe-inspiring, and naturally the music I wrote needed to follow suit - and it is with great pride that we can now present 'Phase I - Neohumanity', the first part in the most progressive and elaborate project in the history of Scar Symmetry. What an awesome way of celebrating our 10th anniversary!"
The cover artwork for "The Singularity (Phase I - Neohumanity)" was created by Mircea Gabriel Eftemie.

One thing that I love about Scar Symmetry is that they never seem to run out of classy riffs and thoughtful melodies.

No wonder Phase II is taking a while, this is the best album SS has put out.
Perfect balance between clean Vocals and growling.... I love it!!
nilsson is one of those guitar players that gets better and better through the past time
WE'RE GOING TO THE YEAR 9,045 WITH THIS ONE!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely loving his track, but I can't lie, the Swedish accent on the bit at the end cracks me up.

I could listen first 45 seconds on loop for an hour or so, very cool melodic intro and zero vocals, just awesome.
really really good. Cant wait to hear the whole album!!
Awesome stuff, pumped for the album.
such a gracious track!! thank you
I love how the outro gives you time to let that all in, to think, to ponder.
Love this, can't wait for the album to release!

Love how the end slate is still using Ascension Chamber's video. Like, of all the post-Christian Alvestam videos they could have gone with, they picked the most hilariously awkward one to advertise their work.

Zyborggian Actually Visceral Bleeding is not either of those genres. I'm pretty sure it's either Tech Death or just plain Death Metal I'm not sure though. But you are right that it's not hard at all to judge a band's genre by it's title xD But once in a while the name can confuse you Just look at bands like We Butter the Bread with Butter. Sounds like a pop band xD (Its a really bad. They're Deathcore or something but they are terrible xD).
Scar Symmetry doing what they do best. Fucking love it.
What a delightful riff at 2:55.
Just received new album now i have all of them.
Fucking awesome, amazing vocals!!!
*Шедевр!!!🤘🏻😎👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻*
I openly admit that I am a prog-metal snob and don't really listen to bands with death vocals (even Opeth bothers me sometimes) but Scar Symmetry, for whatever reason, I can listen to all the time. It is impressive. I would hold them in the same regard as Fear Factory with obvious stylistic differences but with the same technical and conceptual eloquence. I can hear how much they enjoy what they do when I listen to it ... its the little things throughout that prove it.

+Turk1389 I'm in the same boat. I'm not a big fan of doom/death vocals, but I don't mind Symmetry's so much.
HELL YES THIS IS AMAZING.
A lot of people are complaining that the band has changed but I like this song. I've been listening to metal for 15 years and it would be really dull if bands never experimented and changed things up a bit. Change is good sometimes.
First guitar solo i've learned since hHolographiv universe.. Per is definitely on the right track with this shizz!! Dat intro solo

Damn... that outro!
It's funny, my 2 favorite Scar Symmetry albums are this one (their newest album) and Symmetric In Design (their first album).
I've been a fan since 2004, sounds weird but I just finished understanding a song from a 1998 Jedi mind tricks Underground hip hop song communication a crop circle thesis. It's one of the most complex and amazing story based on actual myths from the Sumerians about the Annunaki and blending that with religion, science, history and acient astronaut theory...11 yrs before acient aliens came out on history lol Anyways I started to look for songs like that one. Then I find.. 2012: The Demise Of The 5th Sun. Feel in love with this band that sec. They are the most original talented technical bands add the vocalist at the time Christian Älvestam and it's eargasmic. He is the strongest talented singer period no one can do what this man can. Now I've been away from you guys since he left I heard your 1st album the new singer did it was good but Christian Älvestam I couldn't get past it. Then I saw your new album and just the name alone reminded me of the first 2 albums futuristic and amazing. Then I listen to limits to infinity and it brought me back but better I was shocked. You guys stepped up thank you. This Album shows. it's the best album by far since the first two if not the best. It's amazing beautiful heavy as fuck and awesone story line through the album.. I bought the album 2 days ago you guys are officially back lol now be consistent thank you amazing job

late to the party, but haven't been this impressed since Holographic Universe ... as a lot of comments seem to indicate. brilliant songwriting and enough of that proggy evolution that they were doing with Holographic... great.
But dat solo tho!!!
ouf these lyrics are godawful.
Can someone PLEASE recommend me more music that sounds like the intro. I love that spacy jazz fusion sound. The only music I can think of that feels similar is Ethereal Universe's Vol.7 to their most recent release and Phantasy Star Universe's incredible OST. It could be either electronic or metal (I think these are the only genres that would possibly have this sound).

I know some songs that kind of do the same, but bands that do it are kind of rare. Try Brimstone Landscapes by Augury, Into the Parallel Universe by myGRAIN, Insomnia by Haken and Song of Solomon by Animals as Leaders.

Hey dude, thanks for the recommendations. I just so happen to have all of the albums those songs are from except the one by Haken, I just never listened to them. I was never really able to get into Augury because they use too many blast beats, but Into the Parallel Universe was awesome, and Song of Solomon and Insomnia hit the spot (especially Insomnia). Means End is also a band with a similar sound throughout the entire album.

The part from 5:35 is indeed an unfortunate situation... Other than that this is sounds better than the first song they released from the album
I have to say that the different volume of the songs makes this playlist quite annoying to listen to. Which is a real pity for such a well produced album. Can you please upload a proper playlist of this great album? Thanks! Danke! Tack!

oh no bob...
I am bit skeptical...how can one compare this song/style to Pitch Black Progress or Holografic Universe? It's "inferior" in my opinion. Still want to listen to the whole album of course!
They sound so similar to Soilwork... what happens?!!
To be honest, this song is basically just some of their old melodies mixed together into a fairly generic SS-Song. Some parts sound very similar to Path of Least Resistance for example. I'm missing something new here, a reason why I should listen to this instead of just any of their last 4 albums.

I'm so sick of reading these comments saying that the new singers are shit and that SS will never be the same without Christian. Christian was amazing but c'mon, grow the fuck up!! how can you be so sure that Pier and the other guys didn't choose well with the new singers?! I mean, have you listen to that man's musicianship at all? dude's a fucking genius!! he would have not picked these 2 guys to sing if it didn't sound good. What matters really is that it has to sound good to them an no one else. If you don't like it, then be stuck with the old albums but for the love of neohuman ball-freezing cyber-divine entities, let them be!!! >;/

except for live that is. christian cant perform half the shit he pulls of in the studio on the stage. add to that hes uses a fuck ton of layrers and over dubs with his vocals... dont get me wrong i love christian and think he is one of the best singers in metal today but theres a reason why they went with the dual vocalist approach. He needs the studio to sound as good as he does. Lars dosent. no disrespect to either but so far im liking what im hearing with the new album. Im still kinda bummed jonas left I dont know how much of the music he really contributed to but the new stuff sounds pretty classic which tells me that per is and was the driving force behind SS. im not digging the chorus on this song as much as limits to infinity but im sure it will grow on me.

At first I kind of hated "Dark Matter Dimensions" except for 2 songs (no wonder, after the mighty "Holographic Universe"), but I almost instantly loved "The Unseen Empire". And after seeing Scar Symmetry live with Lars Palmqvist and Roberth Karlsson (in my tiny hometown!), their vocals have grown on me A LOT - so I love the newer Scar Symmetry stuff even more nowadays!

workdiggitz I don't want to throw any oil on the fire, but have you seen some videos of Christian live? There's only two on KZread (with Scar Symmetry), both of the Illusionist live at Bloodstock. His singing is spot on and so are his grunts, and he switches over perfectly without effort. I sincerely disagree with the opinion that Christian can't pull it off live. In contrary, the fact that live he sounds just as good as on track is to me proof that he's one of the best around. (Both studio and live) But hey. This is in the past, I'm sooo looking forward to this album! :D
