Unbelievable sounding old school v8 with torque to match, it was in its sweet spot at around 1300-1400 rpm

That's a pretty low rev count for a V8 even for a diesel, Another crazy thing I've learned is that the Volvo's biggest inline 6 engines rev even lower (900-1000 rpm "sweet spot")

I miss travelling in one of these with my father. He drove these when they were new.

The sound is incredible. Love the Scania's. Would prefer you didn't hold a camera while driving though.

Is this truck running every day ? I mean as a normal worktruck ?. Used to drive a 143 streamline ( also with the retarder ) back in the late 90´ties

Yes, its fully rebuilt and I use it everyday doing container work. It's a little old fashioned compared to modern trucks, but I don't mind. Mine has a retarder too, 👌

Very low RPM in the hill for that engine 14 litre V8 should be in 1700-1800 RPM in the hill with load

Using 2/3 of the green band, is the sweet spot for the 14 liter. But it depends of the weight…

when you pass 1500 a small dragon appears in the fuel tank and consumes all the fuel. As a used to be owner and operator of both Scania and Volvo +600hp trucks the closer you keep to 1000rpm the more money is left for you!

100% wrong . It isn't a Two-stroke Detroit . 1200-1500 rpm is where Scania V-8's belong .

1500 when you are driving on a bad gravel road with 60t and need to be able to quickly ad power or reduce power when loosing traction, yes. (Se my videos for examples) But on a dry highway for fuel economy you stay around or under the 1200 you have at cruise speed. (The one i had was geared for forest so it was a bit a high on cruise.. The Volvos did 1150 at cruise)
