She had no reason to hire Leo. She handled this on her own because she told the truth.

Brilliant scene. Shows how desperately in love she is - not at all less than how much in love Fitz is. And she bows in front of the power of love even though at times she manages to make it look like logic and reason are, and have to be, stronger. Such great way to explain how impossible real love is to resist or let go of. I think they really deserve to be together, I hope they can be. The whole scene hits me close to home, brings so many painful memories..

Yes love is a very compelling thing, pretty much trumping everything else. I always found Olitz particularly moving because Liv is so smart and put together yet Fitz only had to invade her personal space and she became disconbobulated. Fitz had to use this weakness against her to keep her from constantly running away. The whole dynamic was fascinating, n ow Fitz isn't forced to use this tactic.

If and when Liv wants to run away, she will and use her own “tactics” to keep him focused on her every move so he can never be able to truly focus on or go deep with anyone or anything else as long as their hearts beat (and even after). She has tried to not be in love she has tried to walk away from him so many times because her being in love with him is so wrong cause A he's married to the wrong woman but still married and he's the president of the united states the most powerful man in the world and people don't see him as a human being. She has allowed people to get into her ear about their relationship where he don't care what anybody has to say he loves her and wants to be with her and he's not ashamed. He's willing to give up his presidency for her cause he loves her more than being president.

I think Fitz was more moved than saddened by Liv's words. He knows how hard it is. This scene is like the reversal of The Rose Garden. It's Liv saying that she wants to be better, to be the woman she puts forth to the world. But she's in love, just like he is. This is Olivia's way of saying "You think I don't wanna be honorable? But I'm in love." And Fitz realizes how hard its been for her. But I don't think it hurt him deeply. I think he knows exactly how she feels.

I was thinking the exact same. They both accept that things would be better if they didn't meet and fall in love but it just couldn't have been helped. This is basically Liv's version of Fitz speech in the rose garden saying "You don't think I want to be a better man?". This two are meant to be. We know it, they know it and now they are letting the public know! Let's just hope Shonda keeps them fighting to be together ❤️

I think what she has yet to realise is that love makes you better, she is better with Fitz then by herself. Its her ditractors Mellie, Cyrus, her father. Those are the peoplethat make her feel guilty ashamed for falling in love which is a human emotion. They treat Olitz love like its a crime. Olitz is stronger together then apart, the reason their love is mot wanted is purely racial, like that congressman said Olivia is mot palatable to the republicans and to America and thats the truth.A rich white man leaving his white wife for a black woman that is a nono that is why they make her feel worse them she already does because of her messed up parents.I want Olivia to rescue herself by getting some help instead of talking to joke. She needs to start confiding in Fitz and both of them go to therapy.Another thing.the line about who would want to choose this kind of love she would she said it To Edison in season 2 I forget which episode.This line makes her look like she had no control over what she did when she absolutely did have a choice and control.These wtiters need to watch their own show so they can have continuity in their script.

pmonpl I see where your coming from with the Edison comment but I dont know if its simply the writers forgetting what they said previously. In my opinion I thought of it more that in that moment in time, Olivia most definitely did not want to be with Edison, she wanted Fitz. And the love she has with Fitz is a painful difficult one. However now that she is with Fitz publicly, she can properly see the consequences of them being together. I dunno if its just me but Olivia isnt as happy in this episode as the previous ones. Olivia isnt the person to sit and boast about the wonderful love she found with the president and she's finding it difficult which is only natural! I think she just needs a little time to realise that it will get easier.

This scene was everything! Liv finally living in her truth! Love it!! I just hate the look on Fitz's face at the end. TG tweeted that he was proud of his girl, but that look was more sadness than pride. Like his heart broke at hearing her say 'I wish I never laid eyes on him"

I want Fitz happy trully happy, Olivia needs to stop treating their love like a burden or a crime. The things she has done are a crime so has every one else around Fitz, those folks are not feeling guilty about their love of him folks like Cyrus so why is she.Love itself is not a crime, she needs to forgive herself for doing the things she has done in the name of Fitz love and let that love heal her and make her happy.I hope she does that because something tells me Fitz might be willing to walk away if he thinks their being together is too much for her. And this time Ithink he will be ok.Fitz wants liv happy in in her best and happy self right now she is not that, she is riddled with guilt shame pain, he won't want to live with that he will think he forced her yo choose him and he will start resenting her and unless she deals with her stuff guilt, shame. Control issues and fear she will resent him too at some point.They both need therapy to move ahead.

+pmonpl I see your point. however I think what this scene is trying to convey is that no matter the pain and storm their love has caused, there's no way to escape from it. not that is a trap, but that these two people have an unbreakable hold on one another's heart. and I don't think Olivia is saying she regrets Fitz or their love, more like the repercussions of it. She hates that she loves him so much, that despite the risks and the consequences her heart still belongs to him. she hates the fact that their love caused others pain. They belong to one another. And in the final analysis, she may wish they never met, but she's going home to him.

It does not make her weak it makes her human. She comes from a dysfunctional family where her parents abandoned her the two people who are supposed to love her and look how they showed that love. Her dad put her in boarding school so he could run b613. Her father locked her mom up for 22 years and told Olivia her mom was dead. No normal traditional family does that. Fitz was the one normalcy and true love she has ever had. Yes he was married but he was in a loveless dead marriage and sometimes you meet the right person while they are with the wrong one.

This the same speech i keep talking to myself about, time will take care of our hearts

Jo, thank you for uploading this beautiful, emotional and brilliantly performed scene. I had only hoped to see the entire scene where she talked about the ring and she named his grandmother that gave it to him. I have no idea how much work it takes to make these but I sure which that part come be uploaded, if possible. Although she mentioned the ring she wore to remind her of her weakness, I remember Fitz saying "weakness was their strength", I will look at it from that perspective. Thank you so much for your sharing your talents.

yes she threw the word love in her speech but she made it sound like some sort of affliction, love makes you happy.

she is ruined . rowan ruined because he thinks that love is a weakness and he has made her feel the same way about love . but olivia knows different . she's just too weak to stand up to her father and get him and his poisonous views out of her life permanently .

He wasn't able to be with the woman he actually wanted to be with (Sandra) which that story is mentioned in season 6 so he just wants Olivia to be miserable. Fitz and Olivia falling in love isn't wrong. Mellie and Fitz being in a loveless ruined marriage for political reasons is wrong. Now that Olivia had this interview they were no longer the scandal.

It may sound bad what she's saying but I think that she was saying that if they hadn't met they wouldn't have ever falling in love and because they did alot of people are affected by it. His wife who never got a chance to receive his love because of the nature of their marriage and Cyrus who was always trying to sabotoge Olitz relationship and her father who didn't like Fitz and because of that he killed Fitz son, and her team who look to her for fixing and saving them for everything but now she's the one who needs fixing and saving. She's in a world where power overcomes love. Love is a weakness like her father said and with her being in love with the president of the united states it changes everything.

The fact that we don't see livvie expesssing her feelings much. For example when Fitz says"i love you" in the whole show she has replied only twice.But this scene...where she says about how she feels and how desperately she wants "us" for she and him (Fitz). So this is one of my favourite scene of the show. I love them so much❤❤❤❤

This moment was one of many why the whole Jake storyline was so irritating.
