I absolutely loathe it when companies put “fragrance free” on the bottle, but then they list essential oils, or other fragrances/extracts in the ingredients... ugh.

The solution for my eczema is strong steroid cream but my doctor refused to prescribe it to me last time I had an appointment. I had eczema all over my body, including the scalp but he didn’t suggest anything for my scalp, only a moisturizing cream for my body that I know will makes it sting more and make me itch like crazy but he didn’t care when I told him.

@@88marome Get a new doctor, sadly using steroids constantly can cause more harm... Definitely request a referral to a dermatologist for other remedies like oral meds or dupixent. I have severe chronic eczema all over my body not one part isn't affected. My derm prescribed the highest dose of dupixent which I inject every 2 weeks. Before dupixent I got dependent on steroid creams which then caused me to go through TSW.. It was a living hell

Thanks for mentioning that commenter who said they use CeraVe in the tub as a conditioner it's better than any regular conditioner and it's helped my scalp eczema and bacne lol I like to take a gentle clarifying shampoo (sulfate, fragrance free, I like the MoroccanOil brand one) and dilute it into a bottle of water with a long thin applicator (most beauty supply stores have them for like a buck) shake it up, and squirt it directly to different localised areas on my scalp to get more precise, even coverage, and to help me scrub less to get my whole scalp, plus i rinse it out more quickly. I'm thinking about getting coconut oil soon to see if using it before i wash really helps my hygral fatigue! Thank you so much for your tips again!

@@stephaniemarie3587 Hi! At the time I was using the Paulas Choice All Over Hair and Body Shampoo and the Paulas Choice Smooth Finish Conditioner. The single styling product was the Yako Let's Curl Up Defining Cream, is was very nourishing and still got a good hold. I no longer use those products but they are great, helped me a lot at the time. Now I'm using the Davies Love Curl line and am very happy with them.

This was very timely and informative. I get eczema on my scalp occasionally that I have attributed to a dairy allergy as it occurs when I have eaten dairy. I have used a Tea tree oil shampoo to help with the itching but it has exacerbated my rosacea which now I learned may actually be contact dermatitis. Thank you for this info!

I have dry, naturally curly hair with a dry scalp. I find that the fewer products I use on my scalp, the better. More products or heavy styling products tend to cause a buildup that eventually starts flaking or lifting which causes more itching. :-( I don't apply any styling products on my roots, in fact I keep them at least 2 inches down the hair shaft to prevent this issue. I also sleep on satin pillow cases which prevents a lot of frizz but a nice side effect is less itchiness on my scalp, I think due to less friction applied to my head while sleeping. :-) Thanks again for another captivating video Dr. Dray! Happy Friday! :)

Honestly you would have had a field day with the Hema UK serum I saw earlier: it said it was not perfumed. Despite containing at least 5 scent-only essential oils, and literally containing PARFUM. That aside, I don't have eczema but I do have scalp psoriasis and the only thing that particularly helps me is Polytar shampoo. Other than that I've mostly given up, although ginger or oat shampoos (NOT the Aveeno baby head-to-toe though! That was helllll) tend to be a reasonable bet. Mostly though I just use my Polytar as directed, and just use something which at least doesn't worsen things on the non-tar days so I can at least enjoy smelling nice. I do also make my own as well as having some store-bought ones, and my current favourite is a coffee mocha shampoo featuring coconut oil as a mild surfactant and descaling ingredient, which smells A+ and works pretty damned well!

However I value these videos so much. I'm getting the vani shampoo today. Truly I could rip my whole scalp off some days. It's itchy & painful. Thanks Dr Dray.

I previously used Neutrogena T/Gel, I actually tried one wash since using the Vanicream and it made my scalp red and inflamed. I got really bad scalp for years due to dandruff and dermatitis, it's really extremely irritating that I scratch my head til it bleed, in those years, I always blamed the shampoos and thought to myself that I need to wash my hair more. Unfortunately, the problems never went away, so one day, I found out that salt has a property that will suck the water out of the bacteria and it could prevent fungus from growing. So every time I take a bath, I always use a mixture of salt ( about 3 tbs / 1 tbsp of water ) as my shampoo, and i just rub them for 10 mins, then I wait for another 20 mins , then I wash my hair with clean water, while I was waiting, I could feel the salt was doing its job, I felt like there were like hundreds of fire ants biting my scalp, but after that, I felt great, the itchiness subsides significantly, and now I barely have dandruff.

In my country I can only find the Eucerin product and now I totally understand why I will throw every head & shoulders in the garbage and I think that there is also one more very very important thing to mention and that is that the food intake may have a great negative effect on this unfortunate condition. I am not a doctor and not an expert but what are your thoughts about the food triggers ( maybe nicotine and marijuana also ). Anyway thanks for all of the advices again!
