​@aggiejet I broke one bolt as well. Ended up having to drill and retap the hole. I found another video where they tightened the bolts and hit the pulley at the same time. Once I did that, it fell right off.

My hub and pulley keep sliding down the spindle resulting in belt flying off. I know it’s just had so much use that it’s worn and won’t grip in place when I move it back up and torque it back down. Thought I’d check KZread and see if anyone else had this problem. Suppose I’m off to get spindle , hub n all for my 20 year old Scag.

@@kurtdussander4944 This is a interference fit, so I can't see the spindle shrinking, but I could see the hub expanding. Maybe a new hub first? Lot cheaper. :) Good Luck.

@@robertwilcox8902 you could be right on that. I definitely don’t see the spindle shrinking. I could see the metal wearing. The whole setup on eBay is $60ish and I will probably go that route. On another subject about how the gentleman spoke on measuring from top down for proper pulley placement,, sometimes you got to watch measuring from top down if it’s a secondhand mower because the spindle could’ve been replaced with one that has a different length shaft.

How hard was it to remove the screwdriver from the taper lock?

I was able to use a needle nose vice grip. It unscrewed easily.

How far do you set the pulley down the shaft?
