Ken knows his parents altho they are both working in abroad, so he didn't really get to grow up with them like be physically present. He was raised by his grandparents.

If you haven’t notice. There are 3 meaning of MAPA in this song. 1. MA, PA = Ma (Mother) Pa (Father) 2. MAPA - the Map which meant in this song was the advise and the guidance of parents 3. Ma (Mata) meant the eye of the mother that was told in the first bridge. Pa (Paa) meant the feet of the father that was also told in the second bridge. I love how these same letters compliment with one another and ended up to a masterpiece.

If you dont have your parents beside you,, you can consider the people who guide you as your MAPA. Josh also didnt have his father beside him, his father left his family..But still Josh sang the father part. Even though he doesnt have any memory of him

Your comment made me love the genius and artistry of sb19 more. Having Josh sing the Papa part despite being abandoned by his father was absolute genius. I can imagine how Josh emotionally (painfully?) sang the part that made his singing sooooo heartfelt.

Josh sang his Papa part without a memory to reminisce too. He never met him. He lived independently and matured on his own.

Josh (singing tribute to dads) never knew/met his own dad. Ken has only seen his mom & dad once his whole life. It broke my heart hearing you say you can’t relate cause you don’t have both your parents, but I hope you realize some of these boys may have some similarities with you in some way & they still were able to make a song like this & I hope that serves you some comfort. Lataratara Latara is a lullaby. The Spanish origin is La Tierra which means land. If you notice in the vdo, when they sing this part, you see the boat sailing and covering many areas or "land". This is still aligned to the concept of the whole song of parents being our guide and allowing us to explore many things as we grow up.

That’s one of the best reactions and interpretations of Mapa I’ve watched. This song is truly a masterpiece. Pablo is truly a musical genius! God’s gift to humanity.

When I first heard this song I burst out crying at Josh's part because he sang it so full of emotion and knowing he didn't have a father figure growing up. Ken has only met his parents twice and was raised by his grandparents. The "lataratara" is based on a lullaby Pablo's grandma used to sing to him. I like to think of Mapa as their lullaby to their parents to tell them to stop worrying as he wrote this when they were on their first tour and far away from home. You are on point that Pablo also writes music like his diary, he has said so in interviews. You even got the members voices right. You're one of the most observant reactors, thank you for that! It’s heartbreaking that you can’t empathize with the song lyrics, but it doesn’t have to be about your own parents. It can be about the people who did fill those roles for you. It can also be about how you’re going to be to your own kids (if any, or in the future.) We all need support and guidance or to be somebody’s support and guidance at certain points in our lives. 🥰

I remember that there is this young international reactor who cried a lot in his RV because he is adopted and he want to meet his real parents. Your MaPa can also be anyone who love and took care of you. Pablo said that Lataratara is some kind of a lullabye that his grandmother sings to them when they are getting ready to sleep. 💙

As you already know, Pablo wrote the song and Justin, the youngest of the group was responsible for the graphic presentation. These boys do it all! What other boy band pays tribute to their guides in life and thanks their fans through song. That's why I follow them.

That's the only song that burst me to cry the first time I heard. I grew up hating my mom for I did not know the reason why she always beat me and my only refuge was my father. The irony, I look like my mom. My father died while I was away for I worked in a company and my boss did not even allowed me to go home...it break my heart and no free moments that my heart crying. I can't accept that he left already even until now.

You got this one perfectly man. The "Lataratara" is like a lullaby here in the Philippines and them singing it, symbolizes them taking care of their parents this time because they are now capable. And yes, even though this song is sad in a way because it makes you think of the sacrifices of your parents, MAPA is meant to be an uplifting song because the intention of the song is good and pure....and the "lataratara" part really does the trick. Also if you notices the background graphics, the little boat turned into a plane that roamed the world and in the end it turned back into the little boat and went home. So what you said was spot on.
