What a beautiful way to honor, Max. Our Max is 10 years old now. We adopted him 2 1/2 years ago from a family who did not want him anymore. A precious and gentle 105 lb Lab. Lost my beagle of 14.5 years this week. I'm 52, I've never know pain like it.

Bred and raised Collies for 33 years. It never gets any easier when one of your "Family " leaves this world. Thank God for the time you have been together. I truly believe that our animal family is in Heaven and that one day we will be together again.

Once your heart is been touched by the love and affection of a dog, your heart will never be the same again. You become a better man. I lost my Cody (golden retriever) October 10, 2022. He was 13 years and 9 months old. Never in my life have I experienced such a pain. Cody has a huge place in my heart and not a day goes by where I close my eyes and think of him and my heart want to explode.

God bless you and your beautiful family ❤🙏 I have empathy for you. I have been there. Dog's are such a blessing. They are always there for us. They feel what we feel. A lot of people don't pay attention to their dog's special ways in how they really take care of them. We need to pay attention to the living being's around us and realize how full of love they are. And we need to expand the love that we have in our heart's, mind's and souls and reach out to love back. Love is the root of happiness.

I was a big fan of Max. I still miss him. RIP.

How incredibly brave for you to post a video of his final resting place. Losing a dog is indeed one of the hardest things to experience...but having a dog in your life is one of the greatest joys. Rest in peace Max.

Shawn, what you said about learning that love is the biggest gift our dogs give us. That anger is a problem to learn how to deal better with. No being responds well to intense anger. No one learns anything but fear when we are not responsible with expressing our boundaries in a calm manner. I miss all of my dogs. The more we love the bigger the heart ache. That is the price of love. Well worth it I think. RIP Max and my dogs: Bogart, Riley, and Finn. Hope to be with you all on the other side of the rainbow.

I too have lost a few pets over the years. I feel your pain. We are so lucky to have them in our lives. My husband would often say to me loosing them is too painful. When we lost our two dogs (they were siblings) two days apart in 2022, it really broke him. I couldn’t bring another dog home. Just couldn’t let my husband go through that again.

Very touching. I had a beautiful yellow Lab named Yogi. We had a great time together and I loved him and he loved me. He was very sick and his heart was choked by heart worm. The vet said, he is only alive because he loves you. Even in his last moments his tail was wagging saying, it will be alright.. My friend, I can only pray that I will see you again in heaven. This was a beautiful, though heart breaking funeral. You made a beautiful resting place for Max's body. The flag at half mast really touched me. Just 6 days ago I put my friend Rocky to sleep. It didn't go the way I wanted it. The vet made a travesty of the procedure. His ashes are back and his paw and nose prints. His body is gone, but not from my mind or heart and I'll always be glad that I knew him. May you have peace in your heart. RIP, Max and Rocky .

Stacey could not live without her brother. They gave me such joy and happiness, Unconditional Love and taught me everything us humans cannot do. They are my kids, my children and I have had such a hard time since losing my babies. I know one day we will be reunited, but in the mean time, I try to be better to everyone. God, I dread the day I have to say goodbye to her. In those 15 years we literally have run over 14,000 miles together, my faithful running partner!!! I lost my 17 year old toy terrier in April. I think about her every day. I still cry. I just want her back. Thank you for sharing this with us. It’s a very private moment but we animal lovers so understand. I wouldn’t give up any of my time with her. Hugs to you all.

Max, Im sure, was an angel to you . I used to tell Charlie that all the time. He was my guardian angel. He died Feb.5, 2021. Since I stopped working in May, wed been together 24/7 and we were so close all that time while Charlie kept gettin older. Now hes gone and it's so empty here. The grief wont stop. I feel your pain brother I lost my beautiful 12-year-old Shih Tzu named Milly on July 13 this year. It’s a pain that is indescribable only people like your self understand it. I believe there are two types of dog owners in this world the first being the owner who looks after there dog food shelter walks, and if unwell take their dog to the vets. Then the second owners who are totally in sync with there dog they are a family member they cherish they adore there dog. You definitely fall into the latter. I still have days I cry and a heavy heart; I miss her little ways her smell her affection. I like to think I gave Milly a good life she was all ways with me even on vacation she would be with me. But in return, I believe Milly gave so much more back to me; I just miss her so so much in my life. Milly made my lockdown easier in the U.K. as she gave me a purpose to get through and I would look foreword to walking her every day for our exercise. I agree with your words how a dog can make you a better person Milly certainly did for me. I wish you and your family well Brian

I came across this video after watching your short movie which I found after watching Hachiko video's, the funeral in this video made me emotional due to the fact that I can't imagine to lose my dog. I even shed some tears after your last words of this video, my deepest condolences to you all.

Thank you for sharing Max with all of us. I watch the film often as my 16 year Sasha lays at my feet, knowing she will tell me when she is tired, when she hurts, when it is time. I will never be ready for that day - but like you, it will be done out of love for her. I've loved her all her life and when that day comes, I will miss her the rest of mine.
