The consent is implied the moment you walk into the store. They only need signs saying something like "this store operates with cctv and by walking into the store, you consent to being filmed and the data being used by us for educational or training purposes" (read a car park sign next time youre out as it will have something similar that by choosing to park there, you are consenting and essentially entering into a contract, to abide by all the rules that will then be explained). Obviously it will all be written in a more legalise kind of language. Also, i see alot of people moan about data privacy and yet use storecards to get the lower, regular price over the artifically created higher price. These cards are purely there to gather your data. How you shop, when you shop, what you buy, what coupons you use/dont use, do you use the self serve or an employee assisted till etc. Whilst its all used for marketing and working out more ways to part you from more of your cash, it is still creepy and invasive (and yet people still sign up). They can then also force you to buy certain products over others simply by altering the price since thats what drives most purchases anyway. This way they can shift stock that isnt selling well or close to expiry. So they can manipulate you better (feels great knowing you are being controlled on a subconscious level. Again, stores have been doing this subtley for decades). They will also sell the data collected and boy, do they have a treasure trove of data on you now. Basically, for a small price (money off inflated products) you sell your data willingly. You agree to it even when you think you dont. You agree to it simply by walking into the store or when you sign up for a store card or simply by parking in their parking lot. Privacy is dead and has been for years. Even cars collect data now. You want true privacy, you need to go live off grid and be self sustainable in the middle of nowhere and without any internet or mobile phone technology. Basically, be Amish. They will always collect data. You cant stop them simply by going to a different store because they will collect your data. Amazon collects your data and yet i see no one moaning about that and yet they collect pretty much the same, if not more data than morrissons or tesco.

That probably isn't going to work, as Theives will do a smash, grab & dash. In the US Cities they have just about every locked up, but the Thieves just break or smash to steal items. The only way that might work no public access to items. Customers tell the staff the items they want & the staff get it for them in back of the store which customers do not have access, & the doors are locked at all times. As long as Theft is basically legalized, none of these AI, or secure isles are going to stop it. I would imagine crime is going to get a lot worse in the UK now that Labour is control of the gov't.

1. Taking your imagen without your consent is a crime, and 2. Boycott!
Orwell's 1984 was not supposed to be an instruction manual. It was supposed to be a warning. But no one reads that old book these days.
time to not spend money where these are.
