Музыка

(re-upload! first try cut off at the end)
Saxophone repairman Matt Stohrer of www.StohrerMusic.com busts out another one-take wonder in this saxophone repair topic video addressing what he thinks might be the most important aspect of key fit: a snug fit of the hinge rod inside the posts. Watch as he fits a post on camera and explains some key concepts about how and why this works. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. This video is intended to be explanatory in nature for consumers, and can serve as a viewpoint/reference for professional repairers.

One can get a sixpack and kick back on a recliner to watch all of Matt's videos, that's how enlightening and insightful they are. I've had my saxes fixed up in Manhattan and down in Miami, and the work is always shoddy. I've learned so much from your videos that Ive saved myself the usually unreasonable high cost of having self-proclaimed repairmen with "decades" of experience fix even minor things on my horns.

Thank you Matt for the excellent demonstration! I just completed my 5th vintage sax overhaul using this new technique using my homemade pliers using your instructional training. This has become a standard practice now in all my overhauls and even my play conditions! Thank you again

Dude yes! Amateur sax fiddler over here. I've been very slowly doing a full overhaul on a New Wonder S2 alto. Recently bought the post fitting pliers from musicmedic, unsure of how to use them. This has answered my questions! Excellent video as alwasy. Thanks for being such a great resource man!

Thank you Matt for the excellent demonstration! I just completed my 5th vintage sax overhaul using this new post-peening technique. I am using homemade peening pliers and following your instructional training and advice. This has become a standard practice in all my overhauls and even many of the everyday play conditions! I have definitely noticed substantial improvements in my key fitting and overall finished product. Thank you again for being so generous with your expertise!

You can do a similar thing by twisting a drill between your fingers in a BACKWARDS/REVERSE direction. It leaves a “burr” inside the hole without squishing the post.

Where did you get those pliers? I didn't see them in the Ferree's or Allied catalogues? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place??

Facing the post before fitting is a great idea! BTW, is that your normal workbench surface? What's it made of?

AC is 60 Hz in USA, not 120.

You are correct, I misspoke. AC in USA is 60hz, and the ballast in fluorescent lights hums at twice that, 120hz.
