    I know people are saying this was too fast, but I honestly feel like their take on this piece was killer. They knocked it out of the ballpark!

    I think they've used the original solos as a bass and improvised. They aren't playing it wrong. Improv is part and parcel

    If I knew that I could play this while in the USAF, I would've tried to stay in! Haha. Awesome guys. Yeah it's a little faster than it was intended to be, but meh, who cares? If a song sounded the same every time another group covered it, then they wouldn't be playing music...they'd just be repeating a song. I think you guys did awesome, and I would've been overjoyed to hear this being played anywhere in public. Glad to see others appreciating The Seatbelts... Oh, and thanks for serving :)

    Anyone stating that the solos need to be played "right" needs to relearn the series that is Cowboy Bebop. Jazz was a huge part of the series, HUGE. They used the titles of Jazz standards as their episode titles and calling the episodes "sessions" was even a musical reference. Nevertheless, two of the most important elements in jazz (in a broad sense) is swing and improvisation. Even tweaking the heads of standards is part of jazz.

    watch out with the dragging in the middle of the tenor solo. nice little embelishes in the soprano sax, and also very nice on the improv around the written solo. I dig it. Would have also loved to hear the bari slap tongue but not a huge issue.

    in jazz a solo can be whatever you want it to be thats why its called "improvisation" there is not "playing it right"

  • @aaronaaronjarvis

    im sorry i didn't mean that it was random. i play jazz and i understand the structure too it but what i meant is that you cant say that one person played the solo the correct way. everyone can improvise there own melody it doesn't have to be what someone else did.

    Actually jazz solos are not random or whatever you want, you must follow chords and what the others are playing, a half step in music played next to an adjacent half step sounds terrible. Improvisation just means that you play the same chord structures in a way that is not written. Of course if they were playing a solo with no one else they could take more liberty in their playing, but they would still need to follow the basic structures of jazz and music in general.

    Everytime I see a cover of this song, the tempo is always too fast. The rhythm of it makes it sound frantic, but it's supposed to be real lax. It's supposed to be a light-hearted song to go with some funny antics.

  • @grizzzlay7389
    @grizzzlay73897 жыл бұрын

    Talented as all hell but you fine folks are going WAY TOO FAST for this song. Slow down, let the strength of each part punch through. That's the beauty of this song. Not how brisk it can be. Whomever decided this had to be played faster, tsk tsk.
