I just assembled my Sawstop. I would recommend having a helper if at all possible. I installed one of the wings myself and that wasn’t fun. They are heavy and somewhat slippery even with the oil wiped off and hard to hold in place while getting the bolts started. I had my wife help with the second wing and the rest of the assembly and it was much easier. And a second person ensures that your guide rail will not slide off before you get a bolt in each end!

Clamping a board under the wing is incredibly easy for the wing install with one person

Letting my Delta contractor's saw go after 32 years of faithful service and upgrading to a 3HP PCS. Was unsure how I'd manage to wrestle the saw onto the rolling base by myself and this video was helpful in that regard.

Thanks for this. I have been waiting for my 36 inch SS contractor saw. I found out earlier today that it was going to be pushed out farther into October or November. Beaver Industrial did have a 36 inch PCS with mobile base in stock so I cancelled the contractor version and ordered the PCS. It is in stock and should ship tomorrow. I will follow your instructions to assemble. Thanks again.

The rail install is what I wanted to watch! I can't figure out where the bolts come from, as none came with my rail assembly. I have to figure out what bolts I need and where I can buy them.

Great video! I am looking at buying one of these for my shop. It looks like you had no problem rolling it out of the box and standing it up all by yourself. I believe it weighs about 250 lbs without the wings. Is it as easy as it looks? Thanks

".......so I could easily lift the saw upright." Not for a feeble old man! You made it look like it was a carton of eggs you were moving around. Thanks for the video. I bought the same saw and found it very helpful. One thing you might want to let people know is that the industrial mobile base has to be modified to accommodate that saw. It's not a big deal, a couple of bolts, and they send the parts to do it. Unfortunately though, they don't mention it in the instructions. I had to find out the hard way. And lifting that thing up a couple of times was not as easy for me as it was for you.

my mobile base is talkin about self tapping screws I'm confused, did you do this?

Is there a protective film on the black extension table? Have seen videos where folks peel it off. If there’s one on mine, it’s pretty well bonded. Top is not at all glossy black, but dull. Any tips on getting it off?

Tom LeTourneau there was not a protective film on the extension wing. If you get the bigger 52” extension then it is a different material than the 36”

Nice video however the flipping the saw on to industrial wheels is not trivial by yourself. I am 6.4 270lbs and in good shape and did not want to blow out back or knee trying your method. I found levering it up and placing blocks under the heavy table end until I had it to about 20degree tilt made a safe lift to vertical. Shifting while vertical in the mobile unit was easy as you show. As others have mentioned the wings were way to heavy for one person to get started. I built a 17inch wide 33inch high little table out of 2x4s in acouple of minutes that held the wings in place for alignment. This fit between the wheels to get close to the table. Actually not sure how you could do it otherwise..... Love the saw!

I enjoyed the Video, you did a great job. I also purchased a 3hp SawStop Professional. I had a Rigid R4512 and really liked it but once my thumb hit the blade that was it. 4 months later after my 10 stitches and surgery to repair my nerve and the tendon, not to mention the $90,000+ it cost, I bought the SawStop. One thing I didn't like was the Rigid was 37" and thus my outfeed cabinet was too. The SawStop is 34" so I built a platform to set the saw on to make up the difference. I noticed in your video your outfeed cabinet was higher as well. What did you do?

Earl B. I had leveling feet on the outfeed table so I just lowered it down until the table was about .25” below the top of the table saw.

Wow Earl, 90 grand? Yeesh! I guess I'm making a good investment buying a sawstop. The 34 inch height is going to be a hassle for me. I'm either going to have to jack up the saw in some way or re-do a bunch of things in my shop. Why do they make them so low?

How out of level is your shop floor? It looked like the saw was bouncing around quite a bit when you were moving it around. I'm considering a PCS and thinking about the ICS base, but in pictures it didn't look like it lifted the saw all that high and my garage floor is pretty out of wack. Looked like you were able to move the saw really easily with that particular base.

Charlie Choiniere it’s not level at all. Normal garage floor sloping really, but the ICS base makes moving the saw super easy. I paid extra to get the ICS mobile base but it is definitely worth it.

Here in the uk we dont get sawstop,bought a dewalt table saw from my wife for xmas nothing like new things

I had a DeWalt jobsite saw for years before I got my Jet. Both were great saws, but the safety aspect of the SawStop just can't be beat.

Random question for you, but who makes the straight edge that you are using in this video? Any chance you have a hyperlink to where I can buy it?

It’s just a generic one I got off Amazon for a few bucks.

Any tips on getting the outer edges of the wings leveled? I lift them up to level it and I tighten the bolts and let go it’s still droops down. Also the front and back edges of the wing can be completely flush and then the middle not be. Having trouble getting it flush from front to back and in the middle and getting the outer edges of the wings leveled.

I would suggest using a large straight edge to make sure that all surfaces are aligned. Getting them level with the floor will most likely never happen unless you have a super straight shop floor. Patience and a dead blow mallet go far during the set up.

First thing is to get the bolts started while holding the wing. That's always a lot of fun. Then tighten ALL the bolts just before they are starting to really snug up. Take a rubber mallet and pop the wing until it is flush with the front of the table top. Use your finger to check for flush instead of a tool. Pound front to back until you get it flush. Once the front edge is flush move to the two inner bolts to level. With the bolts almost snugged up you will be able to pound the wing up or down with the mallet to shift the wing. Get the wing flush right above one of the two inner bolts and snug it down harder once done. Then move onto the second inner wing bolt and repeat. If when you hit the wing and it doesn't move you have the bolt snugged up too much. And vice versa if you pound the wing from top or bottom and it doesn't shift it could be too loose because it shifts and then returns to where it was so try a bit more torque on the bolt. Now that both center bolts are flush you can move onto the outer wing bolts which you asked about. Same procedure of having the bolts mostly snugged up but loose enough for the wing to be nudged with a rubber mallet. Pound top and bottom until sliding your finder over the joint feels as smooth as you can make it. Usually you can get it to be almost none existent feeling. Not always though. Then tighten up the wing bolts fully and you are done. I've literally done 30 to 40 PCS and 25-35 ICS saw assemblies so I've got this down pretty pat. Ask away if you have any other questions.

Thanks Jim. I love this model. Unless you are cutting through some majorly thick hardwoods the 3HP is all you really need.

I believe you need to order either metric or imperial.

I got the 3HP 52” saw and I bought the Freud SD608 dado stack and found that setting it up for a 3/4” dado, it won’t fit on the arbor coz the bolt is not long enough and only a couple threads available for the arbor nut. 🤬🤬🤬

TwoBit Woodworks I cant imagine how? The inside arbor washer is not removable. With the outside washer removed setting it for 3/4” as instructed, there was only two arbor threads exposed to tighten the nut on with the hub adjusted flat and besides, SawStop doesn’t recommend using that SD608 dado set as it could trip the brake and damage the arbor unless you bypass the safety brake. I spoke to the SawStop engineers about it. I sent mine back for a refund and purchased the SD208S one of the sets they tested and recommended. Sorry I don’t believe you set a SD608 dado set and got it to fit on the SawStop 3HP PCS. No Way!

@@TeamProsperity I misunderstood, I do not have the SD608 dado set, I have the Irwin Maples dado set and do not have any issues running a 3/4" dado stack. I thought you meant that you had issues running a 3/4" stack in general, not just that you had an issue with the SD608.

Manual says outside washer not necessary when installing dado stack. This might also help.

Geoff Maxwell not at all. I am very happy with the purchase. Safety is very important in the shop and the SawStop is top of the line in that category. Also, the cut quality and power can’t be beat.

When Using the industrial base approximately how high is it from the floor to the saws table top? And can the height of the saw be adjusted when using the industrial base? Currently everything in my home shop is set to 37 in from the floor. I'm ordering the sawstop off of Amazon today and would like to order the industrial mobile base but my home shop is not very large so having all table tops and cabinets either be slightly shorter or the same height is very important..

Michael Kaine it’s approximately 34.5” from floor to top of the table. No adjustment for raising or lowering it.

Michael Kaine I would not suggest that at all. The table saw is very heavy and SawStop has done a great job of making sure that the foundation is top notch. Any alterations to the base may cause some balance issues as well as structural issues.

Serious question. You moved the saw base onto the rolling stand rather easily or so it seemed. How much do you suppose you had to lift in weight? I know that tilting the base was not the same as lifting the base. Thank you.

Jeff Stanley not much at all when physics are involved. Without all of the extra pieces it is not that hard to manage.

Krunal Patel I had the DEWALT jobsite saw and it underpowered compared to the SawStop. I now have a 3HP saw that powers through anything I throw at it. No bogging down at all.

looks to me you got to be another sawstop sucker....no worries, I got two so I am a bigger sucker than you, lol.I owned Powermatic cabinet saws for a very long time, when it comes to cabinet saws and not sliders, sawstop rivals Powermatic easily; good luck to you in your woodworking gig.I mentioned I got two saws, one is like yours that I keep dado in it so I don't have to go back and forth, also I got a 5hp industrial that is my main cutting saw, I strictly moved to sawstop for the safety cartridge, I owned a slider but don't do that much large ripping lately so I sold it;I've been around for about 30 years so I've seen everything out there, you got yourself a nice saw, bit pricy but what of anything quality is not pricy?Dan

Daniel Pap if I had the room to keep one saw a dado and one a normal setup I probably would of kept my Jet saw with a dado setup.

just bought one yesterday,,and other than the safety it provides,,its way overpriced,,and weighs a ton,,im taking mine back before i get stuck with it

Thanks, good info--but 9+ minutes of a 30 sec audio loop is very painful. I'd rather hear wrenches banging and some swearing from knuckle scrapes. Really.

For the same price, you could have bought a much better table saw from Jet, Laguna, Powermatic I purchase new my table saw when I was 24 now 62 and have all my 10 fingers and its still my goto tool in my shop simple use safe proven methods

Clayton Lemieux I have a young son who is starting to want to help out in the shop. The SawStop is not just for my safety, but his as well. The safety of my family is priceless.

Still, teach your young son good table saw rules of safety and don't rely on the onboard built-in safety that gets expensive to replace a good over $100 saw blade and the cartridge
