Sawmill Shed Build, Start to Finish

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This was a fun project building a shed for My Woodland Mills Sawmill. All the lumber for the shed was sawn on my sawmill so all in all very little money was invested into this build. Now the mill is protected from the elements and Uncle Tweety (the tractor) has a place to rest out of the weather as well. Hope you enjoy the video. #sawmillshedbuild #starttofinish #timeless

    not sure if my last comment went through, not sure how to send a comment on youtube. Anyhow, I'm 70 years old. Had a 0 frick sawmill pulled with a 471 detroit from age of 25 to 50. Then family farm sold. I sure missed smelling that fresh pine sawdust. Sold farm in 2007 and moved to 10 acre site. I bought a cooks mp-32 last summer to scratch my itch and keep up with fallen trees by storms. This sawmill is so much slower than my frick, but I can saw by myself and not have to worry about getting blade hammered. It is also alot safer. Thanks for your video.

    Howdy Woody- yes, your comment came through and I replied. I sure love to listen to those old Detroit engines pulling a sawmill. I only know of one fellow who is in his 70’s that can hammer out a blade. He and his Daddy used to go all over the country hammering blades back when there were a lot more of the old sawmills running. I sure wish you the best with your sawmill. Take care and God’s blessings to y’all

    @@TheBeardedCarpenter I’m hoping to get a sawmill and build the shed and maybe someday the log cabin. Your videos are inspiring to me also. I grew up framing and running trim. My father was a great carpenter too. He could cut to roof with out ever getting on top to lay out. He was a good carpenter with a commendable work ethic. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience and wisdom. All good things come from the Lord. God bless you. My friend!

    Hello, great job. Will build my sawmill shed next year for my cooks mp-32. Is the black on the bottom of your cedar post creosote, oil or (shou sugi ban process), which is where they burn wood to prevent rot. Thanks, Woody

  • @TheBeardedCarpenter

    @TheBeardedCarpenter

    2 ай бұрын

    Howdy Woody- thank you so much lord bless watching the video. Much appreciated. I did the shou sugi ban on the bottom of the posts up about 4 1/2’. I put several inches of gravel in the bottom of the holes and tamped it really well. I don’t use concrete around a post, I tamp gravel around the post so moisture can get away. I’ve seen post rot when concrete is used. If the post shrinks a bit water runs in and has no place to go. I sure wish you the very best with your sawmill shed build. Take care and God bless

  • @TheBeardedCarpenter

    Howdy Sue- it wasn’t explained in the video because of time, I did tell why in a previous video of the sawmill shed build, the whole log was way too much for my old tractor to lift so I trimmed off when I wouldn’t be using before loading it on the mill.
