Lot of money being spent there but it is going to be a beautiful structure. Those telehandler machines have a "fine adjustment" on the hydraulics so they aren't so jerky in their motion. I would call the dealer and find out if it can be adjusted for hydraulic flow. Also the closer you keep the boom in the more stable it is. I have ran one in the past so hope this helps.

Howdy Michael- thank you so much for your kindness. Yes, the sky track is a great piece of equipment to have on the job. I’m using a lapel mic which helps when I remember to turn it on lol. Hope all is well with you. Take care and God bless

Hello Mr. Bearded carpenter. I have been watching your videos and from one carpenter to another you are a genius with some of the solutions you come up with. I really respect your building knowledge. One thing I want to ask you about this build. I am a fan of full scribe log construction and im trying to understand why it is you build these walls with a gap? I am curious as to the thinking behind it ?

Howdy Ken- I sure appreciate your kindness. This is the first cabin I’ve built using a square timber for a wall log. I’ve always used live edge logs. In the area where I live the old log buildings were live edge logs. Being the traditionalist I am, I try to make the cabins look like they “belong “ where they are located. I use insulation in the chinking gaps and chink over that with a more traditional chinking after the logs have settled. Hope this explains why I do what I do. Thank you so much you comment. Take care and God’s blessings to you

@TheBeardedCarpenter that completwlly does. I live in the province of alberta in canada and really understand that you do that gap for esthetic reasons. Why I asked is I am worried that when it comes time to build my home and consittering the trees I will have at my disposal, I am just worried that if I do full scribe will the logs warp bend or the structure settle so this is why i asked about gapping the logs

@@kenstockton7442 I have some friends who built a full scribe log cabin last year with the southern yellow pine that we have here. Our yellow pine is noted for wiggling a bit but as far as I know theirs has stayed put. Full scribe has been used for centuries so I feel like you would be safe to do that with your cabin. I sure wish you the very best with your build. Keep me posted on how it goes. Blessings

@TheBeardedCarpenter thank you again for your wisdom and expertise . One idea you gave me in watching your videos was that rolling hoisting mechanism you built with that hand crank 3500 lbs winch you have. I have been looking online on various sites for a winch that has 3500 lift capacity, a hand crank and with 50 feet of cable and I tell you that is hard to find up here. I would be very appreciative of you if you could tell me the make and the model of the one you have

@@kenstockton7442 I’m pretty sure I got those parts for the hoists from Northern Hydraulics. I bought the winch probably close to thirty years ago. The winch was a Shelby. You may not need a winch with that lifting capability.

I'm confused about why you seem to want a gap between logs? Why not just make them flush and flat together? Seems you're wasting a lot of time and effort diddling around with spacers... faster boring to me. Goodbye!

Howdy Bogus- I have always built with live edge logs which is the traditional way of building log cabins in the part of the country where I live. I also do my best to do what the homeowner , who is paying me, wants. Thank you for watching. God bless

Chinking gap. The log homes from where I live are usually flat rectangular logs with 2- or 3-inch gap so this style would be correct to the 1840s -50s time period or they would be live edge with a 2- or 3-inch chinking gap.
