Sawmill Mods

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I have a manual sawmill, a Woodmizer LT 15, and I made a few modifications to it: 12v winch powered clamp, backstops, and log turner. I also made a simple mod to the manual clamps. I use this sawmill for milling lumber and logs for log cabins usually but today I am milling logs for the log barn.
You can get custom dovetail jig plans, free cabin plans and lots of log cabin building how-to info at my website: logdovetailjig.com/

I created a non-existent company called It's Just-a-Jig and you just blew the roof off. Fantastic additions to the mill and to your life experience. Thanks ever so much for sharing.

Cool mods! I don't miss my LT10 that was pretty well modded up (trailer, winches, loading ramps, LT15 tank, LT28 clamp and more) and love my Hydraulic mill but it's always fun to see what other sawyers are doing with their mills! I watch you cabin building videos as I find them very informative! Cheers

I have a suggestion...where you slide the Kant's off to move later I would think it would be easier to slide the Kant's back if you put some plastic bed liner on top of the support beams to slide on

I can't find any info on that manual log locking clamp. Can you take some still shots of it and post it somewhere with a link? I'd like to fabricate one myself. Great video.

Howdy Brother- really nice modifications on your mill. Now I’m thinking about what I can do with the mill I bought and I don’t even have it completed yet. Did build a 13’ extension on it so I can mill 23’ max. I don’t think my old tractor will handle any more than that. Hope all is well with y’all. God bless

Yeah, those winches are cheap. I had to replace one in about 8 years so they have worked well overall. Surprisingly, they will turn even big logs which is a big improvement over doing it by hand with the cant hook. We had 16 below for several nights so not much milling right now. This weekend is looking better. God Bless.

Is that log clamp an original WM clamp. I have a new LT 15 with. Having a clamp like that would be a helpful addition to my mill as my clamps are essentially fixed. Having a quickly moved clamp would help with some of the odd length logs.
