I am incredibly impressed by seeing this album anywhere! I really really like it and look forward to watch this later.

I think this band primarily existed while a-ha were on hiatus for a few years. Tough for anybody to try and step into Morten Harket's shoes vocally - amazing vocalist. Would love to see some a-ha coverage on the channel 🤞

You might be right about the nostalgia factor, Jason, because I did first here this back when it was new. I was in my teens, and my father bought the cd. It has never been my absolute favourite album, but I do really enjoy it, and have some nostalgic feelings towards it. I still totally understand your criticism, and partly agree. Still it was cool to get you to review a Norwegian record (since, yes, I am Norwegian), but sometimes, when it gets back to me in the distant future, I will probably pick something totally different

4 stars for me -- I had no problem with the tag-team vocal duties. Standout tracks: "Rain", "Butt Out", and "If You Tell".

wat up my brothas, EDIT! hardly lackluster, it takes a couple listens; “Unsound” mesmerizing, “Still Cry” “Sycamore leaves” starts so pretty then scorching guitar, “Foreign film” Sonic energy, YES YES YES vocal like Gahan Depeche Mode

I enjoyed this album. I found it to have a rather melancholy sound overall which I'm fine with. There's a good variety of songs. It's not a heavy album overall, but there are some heavier moments contrasted with the more mellow songs. Acoustic and electric guitars, some orchestra, and plenty of electronic touches. I dig both the male and female vocalists. My favorite track is "Easy" - I dig the lyrics and feel of the song. Second favorite is "This, That and the Other," which has a cool riff and a nice beefy guitar sound for a change. Other highlights are "Foreign Film" and "Rain." All those songs are very good. My least favorites were "Butt Out" and "Hey Luchie." Those weren't bad, but they're just OK. The rest is in the good to pretty good range. 3.5

I actually heard this album just a couple of years ago, because i was a big a-ha fan in my younger days (and still am), but I had no idea that Savoy had ever gone solo until relatively recently. So I now have a few of the Savoy albums, and yeah, they are solid if not spectacular. Although personally, I like the female vocals. You should really check out the first 6 A-ha albums. Brilliant pop- rock records imo, and the band were huge in Europe and South America in the late 80s and early 90s. Stuart

@simonwebster9712 Yeah, you are right they are good, as is the latest - True North. I have a couple of Magne's albums, too. Such an underrated band, especially in the US.

The band logo is eerily similar to Travis.

It’s safe for me to say that had I known about this album in 1997, I would have loved it. It has an American/UK alt rock feel, although it’s “prettier” with the Norwegian touch. It almost sounds like listening to two different albums, one from a masculine perspective and one from a feminine perspective. I was reminded of Midnight Choir, Grant Lee Buffalo, Chan Marshall, Tanya Donelly, and Elastica while I listened. My favorite songs are the first 5 tracks and “Rain” The stunning opening title track pulled me right in. “Flowers For Sylvia” - everything uttered could be elaborated on in great detail, sparking numerous conversations. It actually inspired me to revisit Sylvia Plath’s work. 📚

I like them but not nearly as much as you do. "Crackle and Drag" a song by Paul Westerberg (after his heyday) about Sylvia: kzread.info/dash/bejne/YnZ5qciGp5vYqpM.html Some of depressing lyrics: She made a good go for a weeping willow She closed the windows and made herself a pillow And took a long deep breath While her babies slept And the Cadillac crept In your body bag And her blacks crackle and drag Blacks crackle and drag Blacks crackle and drag

@@oppothumbs1 Oh yes, I was introduced to him through the Singles soundtrack and enjoyed “Dyslexic Heart” and “Waiting For Somebody” but was more focused on Alice In Chains and Soundgarden at the time. I’ve heard a few Replacements songs but never a full album. Maybe I’d have a greater appreciation for their music now. We change over time. 😊

I am pretty well in line with both your feelings on this album. I thought it sounded good and was overall a good listen. I was not really a fan of Lauren's songs being there and I felt they didn't really fit in with the album and yeah, they were rather jarring with their placement in the album. While I enjoyed the album while it was on, I did find it difficult to connect with any of the songs. Ultimately I settled on a high 3 stars.

You guys are essentially saying this album is disjointed with some songs that don't go well together. That is a valid criticism that I failed to mention on discord.
