    😍Gladiator!!💐 hi!! I am going to do my best and I am lucky that I have so much of this orchid left. IF I loose more structures, then I think there will still be enough to make sure she is not a total loss. Thankfully!! And thankfully, the temperatures are now warming up enough that I can give her the fertilizer she needs 🙏🏼 thank you so much for taking a moment to come and have a look see at my .... debacle! 😅 have yourself a beautiful evening, Tinker! I so appreciate your support 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    Oh my goodness, I’ve never been more grateful that I don’t have smellovision . I could well imagine how bad that smells, poor orchid. Not ideal. Winter has been rough for plants, I’m so thankful for spring. May the warm help this lovely huge orchid heal and thrive again. Good luck with her , I hope she recovers. Have a lovely weekend Nina 🌺

    Hi Holly 😍💐 indeed! This is where I would have said, 'if you have the smellovision feature, deactivate right now!' 🤢 not ideal at all, but I live in hope mainly due to her size. If I loose more structures, methinks there will be enough left to grow on from scratch. 🤞🏼 thankfully, the cold night temperatures are now a thing of the past as well, so, she can move closer to the glass, for more light and eventually she will be able to be outside permanently. Bring on the new roots! I want to get into that pot 🤪😅 thank you so much for your best wishes and for your weekend wishes! Right back at you, Holly!! Have a great weekend as well 🫶🏼 so appreciate your time and support that comes with it ❤️🌸

    Denise, hi 😍💐 even with temps warming up, I am still chill about this situation 😆😅 hopefully I can stay that way and not loose too many more structures. Sad to see that it spread so quickly, but thankfully she is big enough and thankfully, she can be closer to the open sliding door where she gets some warm air coming in now 👍🏼 I am... 6' yes. Still! I may shrink sometime soon, but for now, that German stature is strong 😅 my nana came to my waist, so it wasn't from my mom's side of the family. ......your quite the surgeon Nina.......sorry to see such a beauty reduced by half.....Im sure with your care it will rebound fast......Some thing to think about....if a bacterial infection is the culprit. and I agree with you,....how come the black started on the leaf tip on several bulbs..and moved toward the pot...vs from the pot upward..... towards the leafs....?

    😍 Sir Rick! Hi 💐 unfortunately these kinds of interventions come 'easy' .. I have had a lot of practice since I could not continue using my supplemental light and heating during the winter months. I have lost many orchids due to the cold and dark conditions. Not all orchids are suited to be carried outside when the sun is out, this orchid is one of those 🥲 the leaf tips are more volatile, exposed to the chill in the air. Several years ago, I had this orchid outside too soon and there was one night with a temperature drop down to 53ºF and those are the leaf tip burns that dried up, which I showed. So, this orchid is not temperature tolerant at all. Thankfully, those previous leaf burns dried up by themselves because the time of year allowed for warm days, and I brought the orchid inside until the night temps were higher. Which, if the leaves were so close to the wall (and they were) the radiating cold will hit the less firm cuticle structure of the leaf tips first. The protective cuticle layer of this orchid is not as tough as one would think just by looking at it. Calcium nitrate is now in the reservoir, to hopefully protect the new growths! Thankfully my temperatures are rising enough now for me to be able to give this orchid the right dose of nutrients now. What surprised me was, that, when the first leaves popped off so easily in February, I thought that would be it. The pseudobulbs were green, and the leaves had calloused at the point of connection to the pseudobulbs, .... then the cold temps affected them as well and well, here we are. Its a close call and the I can assure you, I would not have watched the progression so calmly if I did not have such a big orchid. Not that I was calm, but I have been here before with other orchids... there was no way I could do anything constructive about it during the persistent adverse conditions. I can only hope that my rough winter conditions and what goes wrong during those months, can be a learning curve for anyone watching.... as in, diagnose and intervene faster, be it with increasing heat or light. Meanwhile, my collection is whittling down to survival of the fittest and I hope the decline trend will stop at some point 😓 🤞🏼 thank you so much for watching, Rick!! Thank you for your comment and question 🫶🏼 I appreciate your time and support! Please have yourself a wonderful day and extend my regards to your lovely camera lady ❤️🌸

    🌸🥷🏼Troy San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼‍♀️🥰💐 Oh, I have so many to cut off of the orchids, and yes... I want them gone! Especially with the threat of bacterial infection looming 👍🏼 Many of my other orchids have depleted pseudobulbs that have dried off, which I want to get rid of as well, makes the orchid look tidy. Maybe I can do that in a video together with some updates. Can't film today though, it is so windy outside, I even had to consider the safety of my pots in the blooming alley. So, I am jumping in and out of things to do while trying to make sure that outside nothing blows away. I prefer this though, compared to the months of cold. I feel and looked like a chicken panicking on the patio 😂 thank you for the good vibes. It is great that she is outside now, and has PLENTY of airflow around her 😉 Watch this space, because I am so looking forward to getting her re-situated again 😊 thank you so so much for your incredible support, your time, best wishes and ALL the things I am not mentioning here, 🌸🥷🏼 have yourself a fabYOUlous day 🫶🏼❤️🌸

I hope your Saturday is already sparkling for you 🫶🏼 a smaller plant I would have tried to intervene as soon as I saw what was going on and then held my breath! The fast spread since February, that did surprise me! Especially because, I would have thought that once the first leaves popped off so easily, the pseudobulbs would not have caught the infection.... well, clearly... WRONG!! I cannot wait to see new roots and get this orchid resituated 🙏🏼 I am sorry to hear of the loss of your small cattleya! Que pena, amiga mia! Meh!! 🥹 thank you, so much, for watching!! Oh gosh, that is horrible. I am quite surprised that happened indoors, and I wonder if it wasn't the cold of the wall but the actually touching the wall and there wasn't any airflow on those leaves and the stoma were blocked and that's the cause. Hopefully the infection is stopped and in two years you can take a division off.

  • @NinjaOrchids

    🥰 Don Miguel 💐 hola jefe! I was surprised to see it happen as well, especially as this wall is adjacent to my neighbor's living room and I know they heat their space. But, hakuna matata! I think it is a bit of both. Touching / cold etc. Airflow, well, this orchid is positioned where the sliding door is opened, either fully or partially during the winter just to change the air a bit, so, while protected with the no ID paph, I would say that airflow was sufficient. Ok, not when it was super cold, then I had enough of the draft from that faulty door, as I showed with the swaying of my schilleriana spike. 😤 at this stage, with what I have left, and the vigor of this orchid, I am not too concerned that she will be a total write off. I may need to remove more structures as the weeks go on, but for now, I am not freaking out. Ce la vie, mon ami! Thank you so much for watching, Michael! I hope that you woke up to a fabYOUlous day 🫶🏼❤️🌸

    Mary, hi 😍💐 I hope she will not loose too many structures, moving forward, Mary! I think, if I do have to cut more of her off, that I will at least have one or 2 pieces that I can grow on. That is my hope, anyway, seeing as the night temperatures are now warming up as well. I think Dragon's blood has it's uses, depending on the situation. I have a video about the different ways and were I feel it is better to use Dragon's Blood as opposed to cinnamon, if you would like to have a look kzread.info/dash/bejne/l2GXlphqZqyan8o.html I hope that it will stop the spread. When the temps are cold, I am not keen on using anything that is a liquid, I prefer to use cinnamon, but so close to the roots... this should stop the spread. I shall reapply later today, even though it is not needed, just to make me feel better 😅 thank you so much for watching, lovely lady! Hi Ninja! This answered a question that has been plaguing me😊 I have humidifiers set for my orchids and ambient humidity ranges from 60-89% Lately i have had to be cutting leaves back on my sesquipadelies b/c leaves have been blackening at the tips. All of the other Angraecoids seem to be fine. So i put a fan on that area hoping to stop the spread of the😊 disease. Do you have any more ideas of things I could do to prevent further bacterial/fungal problems? I am also fixing to spray some Physan 20 on them. Thanks in Advance, Kelly

  • @NinjaOrchids

    @NinjaOrchids

    2 ай бұрын

    Hi Kelly 😍💐 physan 20 is a good idea and if you are in the habit of cleaning the leaves of your orchid then you can do so with hydrogen peroxide 3% even if there is nothing untoward as far as is evident to the naked eye. Might as well use a product that is harmless if we are in the process of cleaning leaves... keep any spores/bacteria from thinking twice as to getting a hold. 👍🏼 This will also prevent possible spider mite outbreak, in case the air gets too dry on occasions without us actually realizing it. Thank YOU so much for watching and for letting me know that the circumstances with my orchid helped solve things that have been troubling your's 🫶🏼 Hope you are having a great day, Kelly 🫶🏼❤️🌸
