    I got a ps3 from a pawn shop for 50 dollars. It was an orginal ps3 model that can play ps2 games. The pawn shop said it didnt turn on so i bought it and brought it home. When i got home and plugged it in, i turned the switch on the back on and it booted up. It was on the orginal firmware from 2006. I put a game in it and the disk drive laser was broken. I bought a new disk drive and opened the ps3 (this ps3 has never been open) and there wasnt a single piece of dust in this thing. I changed the disk drive and now it works. I put a 1tb ssd in it and it plays ps1, ps2, and ps3 games. What i can tell some bought this on launch or close to lauch and the disk drive broke and then they just put it in a closet and left it there until they pawned it in. When playing the last of us, the fan doesnt even ramp up. This thing is silent.

    Submerge as much as posible in very warm dish soap and water to get the console clean with less effort, then you can just air dry it for a day. Also nowadays you can buy electronic spray cleaner for car parts to clean all the electronic components without a problem, so long as you give them some time to dry.

    I once got a ps3 from a dodgy pawn shop for cheap. When I tested the console it had the yellow light so i returned it and when the guy tested the ps3 it displayed the yellow light on the first attempt but then worked on the second. Awesome video ! Bit of a strange question though. I was cleaning my old ps3 awhile back, but noticed after I unclipped the ribbon cable for the USB Controller/Blutooth board from the Motherboard (The one with the brown clips) I haven't been able to get them to clip back and was wondering if I've broken them. Is there any specific way to clip them back or just use a bit of force ? Just worrying about damaging it, if I haven't already 😅

  • @EverythingPSPOfficial

    @EverythingPSPOfficial

    Жыл бұрын

    Try pushing down the connector one side at a time sort of wiggle it in, it can be stiff but doesn’t require too much force, check the pin socket for obstructions. Bit hard to say without seeing it but make sure the connector clip is in the off position (up) before inserting the ribbon then clamp it down

    Its very risky to delid the PS3 and the process has a chance of ruining the whole console even for professionals. I would generally recommend using custom firmware to get the actual temp readings inside the console first, and you would probably find that just by cleaning and applying thermal paste like I have done in this video will satisfy your requirements.

    Solo dos anotaciones, por el tiempo que tiene esta consola, no se debió hacer un delid? Y por otro lado, por la misma naturaleza del metal liquido... no destruirá el disipador que creo que es de aluminio? Según tenía entendido todo lo que no sea cobre termina comiendoselo.

  • @EverythingPSPOfficial

    @EverythingPSPOfficial

    5 ай бұрын

    Incluso en cobre podría resultar arriesgado utilizar pasta térmica de metal líquido. La pasta que se muestra en el video contiene un componente metálico y, en general, recomendaría usar ARCTIC MX-4 o similar para sus propios proyectos. Esta resultó ser la pasta térmica que tenía a mano y ha funcionado muy bien desde entonces. Utilizo esta PS3 en mi configuración de juegos retro y no ha tenido ningún problema desde que hice este video.

    Before I discuss, my ps3 has been running daily since this video dropped and it’s still going strong! 💪 but… NOPE!!! I would use a pea sized drop in the middle and let the clamping force spread it around that’s the official Sony way but i decided to use this method because I didn’t know better at the time and wanted to ensure it was caked up with paste for all time. There are many many ways to lay paste described online and it’s a big debate. You only need enough to fill imperfections in the material anyway so mine waa probably too much.
