Saving a Ford Mustang GT from the Junkyard
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
1987 Ford Mustang GT build video by The Straight Pipes. The 1987 Ford Mustang GT is putting down 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque from a 5L V8. At $57,500 CAD, would you take it over a used Maserati, a REALLY used Ferrari, a Pontiac Fiero Lamborghini Kit Car?

Honestly this is one of the best looking, sounding, and burnout rolling fox body’s I’ve ever seen and I usually go for the new edge and s197 mustangs but yours is beautiful and that sound is like drugs you always need more of it 😂 congratulations on it coming together better than ever!!!

Ordered my 1988 5.0 notchback Mustang LX on Dec 23, 1987. Picked it up in February, 1988. Had exactly one option on it: 5.0. no A/C, no cruise, and the radio delete. $10,500 USD . Put a set of Flowmasters and tires on it and off to the races.. Thanks for this blast from the past. You got me thinking now of a fun project 'Stang. Your car is sick! EDIT: Also just found the paperwork for the 1982 5.0 notchback that started it all: Ordered this one in March, 5,1982: 5,0 option was $452, A/C $676, also ordered T-tops (all the rage back then!) for $521. Even power steering ($190) and power brakes ($93) were extra (!). Loaded it with cruise control ($155) and AM/FM cassette, w/premium sound ($289). Ended up at $9,200 for the car. BTW, that is equal to $27,866 in USD today.

Wrong. I had one. AC was not a standard option to have to order without it, or cruise for that matter. Lots were full of LX 5.0 manual mustangs with no ac or cruise, just pick a color. They had cheap crappy radios to yank out. Change the gears, pulleys and a few other cheap simple. That price you listed is close to what the dealer paid.
Can someone confirm whether or not Jakub's garage is always this clean?

Good build, thank you for saving the car. Fox bodies were once in abundance but have really disappeared over the last decade. Mega props on the phone dialers. I also think I had (maybe still do) the issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords this car was in.

Congrats, Jakub. This video took me back 54 years, my good old days. One thing, in a couple of the straight-on side shots it appears that the driver’s door reflects differently than the front and rear panels, to the extent it looks close, but not quite right.

Can I just appreciate how much of a smile this car puts on my face every time you burn the tires. I have a 87 GT in the backyard it's been sitting for over a decade or 2, it belonged to my great granddad and he passed it down to my granddad. I've been trying to get it from under him so I could at least fix it up and get her back on the road, but he ain't going for it and I can't blame him 😂. I go back there and keep it clean and pop the hood and just stare at the 5.0 just thinking. "Damn I want this so bad"😂😂, but hey can't go against granddad's word if he said No then you better not🤷🏾♂️. Still makes me happy seeing one back in action.

What a project. Would have loved the 50 episode in depth series! Congrats. I had a similar passion project and know how difficult this type of project is.
When I saw the thumbnail, my heart skipped a beat. It's a dead ringer for an 89 I had back in the mid-90's. Wheels, color (close enough, mine was regular red) and stance.
Congrats on the build! You guys have definitely put in the time and effort to build the channel and you should enjoy the fruits of your labor.
I love how stoked Yuri was for you when you broke into the 12s!
Magnificent build Jakub, I've always loved the Fox bodys and I now think this is my favorite one ahah. Loved this style of video, can't wait to see more builds!!
This gives me big nostalgia back to the mid 90s, congrats on the great build!
Jacob this car sounds amazing and looks amazing, great job saving this beautiful pony!

Some 4.10 gears, and a stiff wall ET drag will get you down into the low 12s! Just make sure you tow it there so you don’t end up stranded if the stock 28 spline axles give up on you. Beautiful car brother!
This video made me smile so much. This is what car culture is all about. You seem absolutely giddy.
I really like the dash panel. I have a 89 fox body. I've had it for over 20 yrs. It's won a few car shows. I keep it all original. Keep Mustang Alive.
Absolutely love seeing you guys branching out and doing different kinds of content. Would love to more videos like this!
I love well built Fox Body build. Yours is so clean, and a great sleeper comparison to the restomod that Farah had years back. Great build!
Man this is awesome 👏 and yessss you two should do more cheap car, suv, truck challenges 👏
This is amazing! Love videos like this and can't wait to see the next project!
You have changed my mind, on fox-body Mustangs. I love this. I think it would look even better if it was a little lower, but I get the drag strip vibe, too.
Beautiful build it was awesome seeing you rip down the drag strip at the meet. Love the seats and man does it sound glorious!!!
I really love Jakub's enthusiasm throughout this entire video. Exactly what you want from a project like this.
I owned an 88 GT about 20yrs ago and this video brought back all the great memories! Congrats on an awesome build and you’ll keep improving those 1/4 mile times just get more seat time. Enjoy that 5.0!
Great recap of all the work that was done. Looks and sounds great!
The smile on your face at all times is priceless!! I love it
Vids likes this make sure I hold on to my mustang. It is only a 17 but the smiles on the faces are what it is worth. I don't want to lose that.
The digital instrument cluster is the only thing I truly hate about this build. Everything else is chef’s kiss. Love it.

Great build, excellent snappy vid. Brilliant work!
She's choppin hard! Love it man. Reminds me of the red foxbody my neighbor had when I was growing up.
Congrats dude this thing is beautiful 😍
That guage cluster screen is dope! Not sure why I never even thought a digital display like that wouldn't be doable, but why not eh, if its not an all-original build, why the heck not.
OHHH YEAH! I love this thing. Great work and glad you finally got your dream foxbody Jakub.
Hell yeah!!!!! Car looks and sounds amazing!! Well done!! Gotta love the Foxbodies! Love the old school welds draglites on her too!
love this man got my first car a foxbody 1 year ago can’t wait to have her fully built
You have just provoked a newfound love for 80s mustangs in me. This thing is so cool. Nice work.
‘89 gt was my first car as a teenager and these have a special place in my heart and I plan to get another at some point. Love this build, super cool!
That T5 about to go BOOM!
What a video. I loved every moment of this build
What a fantastic build! Congrats.
Congrates on a sussessful restomod! Which in my own expernce as a Mustang owner Mustangs just put smiles on peoples faces wether seeing a nice one or driving/riding in any of them.
Yess finally. Love the build and you guys vids. Car is so sick
This is one of my dream resto-mod builds even though they are not that old. Would love to make one a drag car.
Beautiful build! Sounds amazing!
it's satisfying to save a car to the point everything is fixed and refined
So fun watching these guys.
So cool to see these more passion project build type videos. Hopefully the more successful you and Yuri get, the more Gears and Gasoline type videos we can get. Looks like a super clean Fox Body!
The car came out awesome. Congrats. Also more videos like this please 😀
I love it all! Nice job on the Fox Body!!! I miss mine!!!!
I still have the 1986 GT "winter beater" and its Cabernet Red was covered in grabber orange so this video caught my attention. Since the original engine got swapped for a 1988 model, and it's T5 got changed perhaps twice, I won't mind testing the solid roof with a stroker tall deck Windsor swap. I was ready to get started when a 1968 Olds 4-4-2 at a "too good to pass up" price popped up while looking for parts (my car will be more junkyard and FB marketplace than fresh in the box aftermarket, but that's why a sponsorship is so awesome). with variable duration lifters in that big block and a switch pitch torque converter in the manual valve body THM400, i have to sort out an overheating issue and then i can clear out the garage for the Fox. Was fun watching your video to get my fire going again.
I couldn’t look away while watching this one! Loved it!!!
Lovely colour, sound, wheels and owner! Good luck with the Mustang Jacob!!!
I learned how to drive Manuel in that car, It one of my favorite cars ever. Good job bringing it back to its prime
Nothing finer than a man talking about his pride and joy
This was a fantastic ride. Thanks Jakub.
The cars beautiful man!! It is perfectly setup for a Foxbody. The wheel setup, the paint, the sound.👌🏽🔥🔥
Great build! Great episode! I love old mustang. The notch back though.
Epic video I love the Foxbody content! Great job restoring it
Epic car. Loved this video.
I have a low mileage 1991 GT yours is beautiful and the motivation I needed thank you!
I did so much work to my 02 GT that I won from raffle for $75. Years of work and love to just get rear ended two weeks on the road by a girl who fell asleep. I’ll finish the story, after being hard broken and depressed the car was totaled I searched high and low for a clean 02,03,04 GT stick car and finally found one. Drove five hours into the Pocono mountains to get it! It was the greatest ride back home just me and the mustang.
amazing build, sweet spot for power in a rwd muscle car1
Loving the update. Thx
Awesome build. Love it man
Absolutely love it. Well done.
Yooo!! Lovely build, man
I hope you did all the sub from connectors and bracing. The fox chassis are like cooked spaghetti stock. Impressive you were able to find unbroken stock seats from that era the driver inboard seat backs always break off. Looks cool.
Absolutely an inspiration!
LOVE THIS VIDEO!
Dixie Bloor Service lol I grew up at the building beside Grants Food Market, back in the day some crazy cars would come out of that garage!!
Can’t wait til my 79 is done!!! Just paint and swapping in a bigger motor. We are looking into places to do the paint at now! Hopefully next winter I’ll do the motor swap. But I do have a good running low mileage motor in it so there’s no rush. Just want more power!

Congrats! That is one SWEET fox body! Congrats!
So many people hate on the Fox body, but I absolutely love them. Put some louvers on the rear window and you're set.
Congrats! She’s a beauty!
Jakub the end result is so BADASS. You can even hear an eagle screeching as you did the burnout.
Love this content!
Nice! Love you guys ... Nothing like a Yellow Prowler though only a few cars in the world I would stare at longer.
The two tone GTs with the hatchback & the titanium lower effects are my favorite car! I prefer the 87-91s mechanically but 92&93 style wise! Had a Teal 93 two tone with titanium ground effects, 5 spd and 3.73s
Beautiful. Awesome in every way.
