Love your show! And your “new” project coupe is a beaut. You asked for opinions: I would remove the fenders and aprons, sort the metal and repaint them. While off, I would carefully bring back the body paint as far as it will go (I have used Griot’s products with excellent results) then put the fenders back on with new welting. The interior is pretty nice, so some careful cleaning should make it very presentable. It’ll be fun to follow your progress!

Very good car. I have two small framed documents on the coffee table. The engraved announcement of my daughter's birth in 1974. And the original bill of sale for $40.00, dated July 16, 1955, for my first car. A 1931 Ford Coupe--I think called the Sports Coupe--the one with the fabric over metal roof, with a back window that could be unzipped and secured to the ceiling. Loved that car.

Hi Paul Thanks for saving the coupe from becoming a Hot Rod. First I would make it safe to drive on the road and I know you will too. The body paint I think you are right just buff it out. Now for the fenders I would sand them down and repaint. Now I am cheap so what I mean by painting I mean Rustoleum Black High gloss. Not with spray cans but out of the quart can ($9). Apply it with a high density 4" foam roller. It is a long process and there is little mess and no over spray. I cut with 15% mineral spirits. Apply at least 5 thin coats(if to thick of a coat you will get orange peel) Let dry at least a day between coats. I lightly wet sanding (600,1000, 1500, 2000 grit) between coats. Last coat I add harder to the paint. Buff it out and it turns out pretty good. I used this on my 1930 TS and I have had many club members give me a thumbs up. To paint the fender it cost me less then $100. That's buying the paint, mineral spirits, tape, wet/dry paper, cheap buffer, pads and buffing compound. It just took time. By the way the the "Dry and Wash" is a great product. It makes the paint and chrome look better then if it were waxed. Thanks Steve Barnacle

I agree with Fred MacCornack. I would repaint the fenders and aprons and clean up the paint on the body and hood. Watching your other videos, you're more than capable to bring back the interior, mechanical, and electrical parts. But, what I haven't seen is how you take a vehicle from it's current state, and bring it back. Maybe you could brush-paint the fenders to make them look better hehe 🙃 like Athena? Anyway, some restoration video would be very interesting and enjoyable. Love the content. You're inspiring to learn from, and I'm considering Model A. It's like a drug now, and I need my fix.

Wow, imagine a nice, complete car like this get cut up into a Hotrod. I don't mind when people turn a rusted-out, half-disassembled parts car into a Rod... But this one? Ooof! Here in Germany, practically every Model A is bone-stock and gleaming with fresh paint. That dull, aged look makes it really appealing and stand out from the crowd! The bumps, blemishes and warts are part of its pedigree/history. Windshield replacement is a must. The little hole in the headliner may do with a careful patch. Paul, I'm sure that you will give it the once or twice over on the mechanicals. Bringing them up to snuff. Since you installed a new wiring harness and 6V alternator would upgrade to LEDs. The paint should buff out and followed by your wizardry in applying the products to make it look like new. The interior will not be hard to finish up...Easy to say from my side of the keyboard...LOL Most of all have fun with it and enjoy!! Look forward to following the progress.

I'd do just what you are doing. Go through the car and make it mechanically sound. Drive it a year to give it a good shakedown. Then, do a cosmetic restoration to spruce it up. Maybe a respectable paint job as well since the car appears to have has such nice metal. New tires too for safety sake. Then you have yourself a nice little driver. Just curious how much is too much to pay for a nice looking Model A like this? With the frozen engine, it seems to me a fair price might be in the $4k-8K range...my guesstimate of what it might go for here in the midwest. Enjoyed another of your great videos Paul.

I think I'd buff the entire thing out right away. That would make the paint shine and show the extent of any issues (like the fender). Since paint is cracking and missing, I'd take it to a paint specialist and have the few major issues worked out. Otherwise, the interior and engine are about set - you're almost good to go!
