Knowing the cultural differences around the world pays off. I'll never forget at the beginning of the war on terror (sic - no WMD's found) the Americans helicopter shooting up an Iraqi ambulance because they didn't know ambulances were black in that part of the world. The paramedic had brought his kids with him because 'who shoots and ambulance?' and he was a paramedic so ... duh!. The response by the American observer on finding this out was "Why did he bring his kids to a war zone?" BECAUSE THE WARZONE WAS HIS HOME! FUCKWAD! That was the day I realised American general ignorance thanks to it's education system was actively dangerous for the rest of the world. We have the school dunce whos grown to 200lb playing with a bazooka, and they refuse to grow up.

For those wondering why he's saying "left hand shoot him" they assume their right hand is holding a weapon
@TheSpartan_G
Ай бұрын
That's plausible too, but it's more likely because the left hand in many middle eastern countries is considered the "dirty hand." I may have some details and geography inaccurate here but: It's generally proper etiquette to use your right hand for most things in those cultures as the left hand is considered unhygienic (toilet paper is not nearly as accessible over there a lot of the time if ya know what I'm saying). So to raise your left hand is sort of like giving the middle finger. I'm not even 100% sure how accurate any of that really is, but at the very least it's a "myth" that's been told over and over again and it's reasonable that this Marine had heard it and believes it - regardless of the validity of it, and therefore takes it as an act of aggression.

For those wondering why he's saying "left hand shoot him" they assume their right hand is holding a weapon
@TheSpartan_G
