Saved from Myself - Carol Musyoka

If there is one place where many do not expect to feel loved or even appreciated; it's the work place.
The work place has become a symbol of toxicity, an obstacle course where we dodge bullets and survival is only guaranteed for the meanest - A place where we lose our dignity and sense of well being.
In this talk, Carol Musyoka shares an experience that does not only illuminate how the work place can be denigrating, but also shows that there are rare moments when some people can show us a love at the work place that saves us from ourselves

Carol really really killed it . Her story telling skill is pale juu TOP NOTCH. Flashback well used . Also her story is a learning experience for those in the corporate world. I happened to experience that way of being told by your bosses you're just any other employee. Despite the hard work and wonderful work ethic you put and have. Believe me it gets one so angry that if you're not able to control the anger you would do much worser things than what she did . Such an inspiring and learning real time story.

CAROL MUSYOKA!! I met her at the International School of Kenya in 2009 at a conference, I was in High School then and we'd gone there for this conference. She spoke. I was clear then, I want to be an IT girl. I always wanted to, but she's the nudge I needed to go all the way out. Finished high school, did IT and I now develop Software in the US. Eh, people can really impact you, whoa.

After I was let go from a company I loved because they had been acquired, I felt so angry and hurt because I had just sent them a SWOT on how to improve themselves. I wrote an email of complaint to send to the concerned complaints body with all sorts of grievances in it. I never sent it and until today, I know it exists somewhere in my 2012 unsent emails that I never thrashed but I can't bring myself to open it. There ia a good lesson in there from Carol that rings true about writing down your feelings and sleeping on it to see how you feel later. It is very therapeutic and emboldening
