Prayer: Help me in my hour of helplessness Dear Jesus, help me in my hour of helplessness. Free me from sin and open my eyes, my heart and my soul to the deceit of the devil and his wicked ways. Fill me with Your Love when I feel hatred in my heart. Fill me with Your Peace when I feel grief. Fill me with Your Strength when I am weak. Save me from the prison within which I find myself, so that I can be free and be held safely in Your Sacred Arms. Amen.

Father Mike, I was literally sitting here at my computer feeling completely helpless about a situation that I need to remove myself from. I've been planning to do this for a long time but each time I try to follow through I feel so stuck and helpless to actually execute the things that need to happen. I feel immense overwhelm. I was browsing through KZread and I wasn't searching for any topic in particular but somehow I just felt worse with everything I saw. Finally, I closed my eyes and prayed an Our Father and asked to see something that would soothe me. I refreshed (again with no search) and the FIRST video was this one. This video addressed exactly what I'm going through! At this point in time, this video is 5 years old but it came up first on my feed! Make what you will of it but I do believe this was God's answer to that particular prayer. Thank you, Father Mike. Now I'll listen again. God bless you.

Father, I know you can't read the comments ,especially of much older videos. I still wanna let you know you gave me an extra reason to exhale and smile. It's like not even knowing me, you're in my head and know exactly what I'm going through. Many, many, many times, you have been the spiritual director I've so separately sought and not found. God truly is Great and Awsome that really does AND makes Wonders. God bless you. I will be praying 3 Hail Marys for you today.

I feel like I am in a place in my life where I want to give up. I am only 18 years old, and I know this is a big problem. I struggle with ADD, and I have gotten really lazy lately, not doing anything but watching KZread videos and going on Facebook and the Internet. My prayer life is nonexistent, and I just have no motivation to actually do anything in my spiritual life. I go to Mass every Sunday with my family, and I really do love it. I have been a Catholic all my life, and I love the religious traditions and everything about it. I also believe that everything the Church teaches is true; however, I don't seem to have the desire to translate that into changing my life. I think I just don't want to put forth the effort to make the changes that I want to happen. I am just struggling, and I hate it, but I don't know what to do about it. I think I have just come to a place where I think that it is easier to just sink deeper into my sin than make the effort to change and grow in holiness. I know that I can't do it all by myself and that I need God to help me, but I can't just let him do all the work. I have to make some sort of effort. I just feel like I don't really have a relationship with God right now, and I want it to change. Please pray for me, and any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Elizabeth. I read your comment and I felt your pain because I too struggled with ADHD. It's absolutely, 100% by no fault of your own that you feel this way. I don't think you should feel guilty for "sinking deeper into sin". Perhaps there's a reason for your current state, perhaps your mind wants better answers, ones which Christianity/Catholicism isn't able to answer well. My advice to you would be to see a psychiatrist who can help assess your problems and give you the appropriate treatments or therapy. I know these may not seem like great options now, but I assure you - your life will change. I know this because mine did. Please consider giving medicine and science a chance. Question everything! Prayer can only help you so much, but medication and treatment from people who study and know how the brain works may be just what you're looking for. Message me if you need any further advice or help, or have any questions :) I'm always open. Love and light.

Elizabeth, you do not believe. It's simply like that. you're just saying, maybe you want to believe, but you don't. If you would.. then that question wouldn't be there. pray, Elizabeth, pray, through Prayer, Struggle, Suffering and Cross we are finding Jesus, God. Also 'REPENT AND BELIEVE IN A GOSPEL', also excercise charity, love, mercy. Do not skip any of these words written here to you in this particular answer. i prayed for you and that answer came to me. Àt first I thought about sufferings. FINDING CHRIST - IS THROUGH SUFFERNIGS. BUT DO NOT FORGET CHRIST, THERE IS NO CROSS WITHOUT CHRIST, AND THERE IS NO CHRIST WITHOUT CROSS. But then I p came to understand that in order for you to understand it, you must believe. Just excercise all Lord's Teachings, and you'll come to Faith through God's Grace. And those a pre not just words. SUCH THING AS GOD'S GRACE REALLY EXISTS. Now why do i give an advice to you? - it's simple. The answer: hello, i'm Ana, and i was just like you. And nothing turned me away from the evil ways i went. But then ... was a lot. ... And now, ican give you an advice. Please, go away from the internet and KZread and other such things. There are violence, immorality, impurity and sins in this world. we are in the days of the flood. Instead of drops of water - the Wrath of God. Our Ark of the Covenant is The Immaculate Heart of Mary. check this site please holylove.org

Elizabeth Buerke I’m going to pray for you. I also will tell you what I wish I’d known a few years ago: when you are feeling like this, find someone to help. Volunteer. Give a friendly smile and have a simple conversation with the people in the street who carry worries in their eyes, and see what you can do just by being yourself. I have ADD and I really related to everything you wrote. Just remember that it’s as much a blessing as it is a disorder. We have an easier time with some aspects of life which are undervalued in our culture, but which are vital to being good people. We live in the moment too much, which is a thing many people can’t do at all. The hazard is that we are so absorbed in silly things we miss important ones. Use your ADD superpowers wisely. There’s a channel called how to adhd ; if you haven’t watched it give it a look because it really gives a lot of practical life skills advice to help apply your faith and get things done in general. I hope this helps (and I hope you are better now since it was a year ago)

I just said a prayer for you, friend. I can relate. What you’ve got to do is start small. Don’t expect to become a saint overnight. Start with an our father or a Hail Mary. And then ask God to help you grow your prayer life. Eventually you’ll find yourself praying small prayers throughout your day & have a relationship with God. Don’t be afraid to tell God how you feel in prayer and to ask for His help. Also, remember to thank Him for your blessings & you will grow your relationship with Him and find joy & peace. God bless, I’m praying for you. 🙂

The baby elephant growing up with the rope attached to a peg is my favorite analogy in clinics. Patients' eyes open wide when the imagery hits them... especially when they are told that an adult elephant with the same thickness of rope on a puny stake keeps them from moving. Really powerful. And then I work with them from there. :-) I will now add the other things you outlined here, Father. Thank you!

I am. During a pandemic I am sending out applications for employment. I am volunteering at church. I am preparing to go back to school again too. 18 months after being in a roll over car accident as a passenger during which a tail pipe poked through the seat which I was sitting on and in which gasoline started then spewing out all over the inside of the car. I had to find my glasses and convince my daughter who was driving that we both had to exit the vehicle instead of waiting for help. We both managed to pull ourselves out of that wreck despite the fact there is 39 years age difference between myself and her. While continuing to save myself from helplessness I am being told to stay home, not apply for work, and that there is no use me going back to school because according to my post secondary school records I am not a good enough student to succeed in post secondary education anyway. There is one thing I cannot do. I cannot change the world on how it perceives us female human beings.

Realism as the helpful view cutting between the 2 extremes: (unrealistic) optimism and (over) pessimism. Hope is the way out of depression counting on God's assurance of comfort along the way, through the arduous struggle. 'Not easy, but it's the right track (there's strength, there's growth). I'm just keeping at it, always on the lookout for little things to be grateful for everyday and telling Jesus about it. ❤

#AskFatherMike The world has divided itself into three categories: the optimist, the pessimist, and the realist... And for some mysterious reason, I find the three of them repugnant. Optimisism is full of surrealism and denial... and in many instances, it lacks depth and solid ground. Like living in a LaLa land. Whereas, pessimism is depressive, ungrateful and dark... empty of any beam of light. It is suffocating! Like trying to breathe underwater. While realism is dull, limited, boring and uncreative... Empty of any sense of awe and amazement and astonishment. Like living in a world where everything is grey. I think we ought to introduce a fourth outlook, a "hopeful" one... We may even call it "hopefulism". For "hope" is a virtue that acknowledges that life is difficult, full of challenges and pain; therefore, it does not fall in the trap where optimisism fell. At the same time, it looks beyond darkness and sees the "light" through it, since it believes that the truth shall eventually prevail; by this, it overcomes pessimism... While simultaneously, it preserves what is amazing and awesome in life; thus, it avoids the dullnes of pure realism. If I had to choose, I would opt for "hopeful"... It contains all the colors.

Optimism is not an attitude of denial..sorry that's wrong. Its not part of la la land. Optimists always relate to reality and aim to make the best out of it. They aim to see the good things in appearantly unfortunate circumstances. And act upon them in order to make things better

I've felt very helpless for a long time. I'm in my twenties. I lost my childhood and my loved ones to addiction. I was neglected and abused. I've been disinherited. All of the consequential "adults" throughout my life have let me down. I've often blamed myself for it, and I have always put others before myself to my detriment. I'm struggling in my relationship with God because I don't understand why I would be put in this situation. I was raised without religion. I aspire to spirituality if only to help me grapple with my struggles. I am feeling so lost and defeated. All I want is to be happy, satisfied, taken care of, in control, and loved.

oh! When is it going to happen? I beg thee, O Lord, to release me from this helplessness...... I'd live in the present than dwell in the past and learn from it. Remember that big faith by Job.

You are right...painful experience can be a blessing and grace. We may not fully understood now but with Grace of God and virtues of humility and obedience, an open heart and of mind, strength and courage, due diligence, it will be fully revealed according to God's holy and Divine purpose. Thank you Fr. Mike,, can you please expound on this matter? Suggestions?

Thank you for your quality content in this channel. This content help to have an understanding: "I might not be able to do everything, but is doesn't mean I can't do anything." Yes, I believe, many good things must be done as long as we live on the world.
