Save Time! Upgrade The 2.5L 4Cyl Jeep YJ Intake Manifold To a TJ Intake Manifold

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It seems like a silly upgrade but if you are working in your engine bay a lot, being able to quickly remove the serpentine belt can save you a lot of time. This simple-ish and not so quick modification trades the YJ wrangler intake manifold and power steering bracket for the TJ wrangler manifold and bracket. The TJ intake manifold and power steering bracket add an idle bearing to the serpentine belt making belt removal much easier and saves time when doing jobs like, power steering pump, water pump, alternator, AC compressor and even supercharger install. It really isn't a fun modification but I absolutely love the end result and would do it again .

    Super interesting ! I was suspecting that some TJ equipement could have fit the YJ but this is a spectacular exemple that confirms it.

    Had a few Cherokees a while back and thought about cutting the "legs" off the manifold and welding on bases to accept the Chrysler 3.5 throttle bodies. (2 of them) I just picked up a 01 Dakota with the 2.5/ax15 5spd, 8.25 rear, 3.55. You can get a "performance" cam from Bullet Cams near me (Olive branch MS) Im still watching your videos on the supercharged ones. ThNks for these!

    You may end up with too much throttle body doing that but I like the creativity! Thanks for watching!

    They must have gotten rid of it by 95. I have seen some 95's with the newer style intake manifold.

    Shoutout to my pre 91 yj bőrthers who's jeeps dont have power steering. Also, pre '90 yj's use v belts instead of a serpentine belt so you get no tensioner at all (unless maybe an additional v belt for the ac if you have it and ANOTHER additional v belt for the PS has a tensioner, i wouldnt know)

    Lol Yea, this pretty much doesn't pertain to you. Unless you are upgrading to the serpentine belt, then I recommend taking parts off of a TJ. (Hence the video)

    I have a 90 YJ that is carbeurated with this fuel injected manifold already installed. The injector seats are plugged and it has a carb adapter. I am looking to switch it to fuel injection since the manifold is already there. What do you recommend for a standalone ecu that I can just plug the injectors in and the throttle body into without much hassle? I cant use a stock ecu because the jeep is bored and stroked to a 2.8. The the distributor timing is also already standalone too.

    Hello, I love your videos! One question, did you have to open the hole in the TJ throttle body? for the 6cyl body?

    I didn't have to, but I did because theoretically, it should be better to have matching hole sizes.

    Do you know what would cause my yj 2.5l to loss power in 3rd gear and up, have to shift back down it loses so much power. Have 9 psi at fuel rail with key on, and around 31 psi running. My initial thought is to change fuel pump and filter. Just wondering ur thoughts!? Thank you

  • @JeepSheepTV

    @JeepSheepTV

    Жыл бұрын

    When you say 9psi with the key on, is that with the engine off? The fuel pump runs for a few seconds when the key is on then turns off if you don't start the engine. With that said I wouldn't expect there to be much pressure if the pump has run then turned off. 31 psi sounds fine when running and it should go up around 39psi if you open the throttle. A loss in power in higher gears is pretty normal for this underpowered engine. My best advise is to clean everything, valve cover (inside and out), intake manifold, throttle body, injectors, etc. Check for any vac leaks. There is a vac line that runs under the dash to the heater, those leak sometimes. Move the inlet air sensor and shift gears at like 3500-4000 rpm (or higher). One thing I noticed is that when shifting gears, often times if you shift at 3k it will drop you into 2k-2.5k rpm in the next gear where this engine has no power and it will take a long time to work its way back up to 3k+ where it makes power again.

    I would think that you would want it on CCV (the big one) It seems like many of these engines have quite a bit of oil coming out of there onto the air filter
