    Hi, I am still alive, it has been a somewhat hectic 18 months for me so any videos I had in the can are still waiting to be edited and as I no longer have the Punto I can't make any more. I promise there are new videos to come still and an update about the future of the channel at some point.

    Looking at the corrosion at the battery terminal I would argue that the battery was still good and was just not charging. I had this issue before and all i did was clean the terminals, jump start the car and let it run for 20 minutes to charge the battery. The battery lasted me an additional year before giving up. I now make it a regular maintenance practice cleaning the terminals.

    You can certainly make that argument, but I can assure you the battery was very dead, and wouldn’t charge off the car either nothing to do with corrosion, while it looks a mess the contacting surfaces were clean and the contact was good hence why the new battery immediately worked. The battery was actually working well and then suddenly wouldn’t hold any charge so I suspect something had shorted internally

    Guys just please remove the rust and corrosion from the connection points.

    Maybe one day..... If the dirt and corrosion is on the outside of the connection it has absolutely no bearing on the function of the battery or the connection. The battery terminal and the inside of the clamp are both spotlessly clean though....

    Thanks for posting, daughter had a flat battery, recovery jump started it and now she has an airbag warning light showing permanently. She has a Halfords HB012 battery - came with the car,I think this is the wrong battery for an Evo with stop start!

    No idea what the battery you’ve fitted is or if it’s compatible or not, but that won’t be the reason for the airbag light. Basically the removal of the battery or the old battery has likely caused the problem as the airbag module doesn’t like low voltage. Might just be the codes need clearing

    How long would you say the punto battery lasts from new? mines a 2012-2013 punto, and had a dead battery this morning, even though was doing lots of travel over christmas. jump started it today and it charged up fine from the engine running for 30mins. Worth replacing?

    It’s probably getting tired but if it’s been fine since then you could have another year in it

    Hi there! If I didn’t want to use the stop start feature and wanted to save a bit, could I just get a normal battery for the car?

  • @PuntoHowto

    @PuntoHowto

    Жыл бұрын

    No not really. The car will not know that it isn't a stop start battery, and so it may still try and stop/start which will seriously shorten the life of the battery at best or overload it and cause it to explode at worst (seems over dramatic but it could happen in rare circumstances)

    Fitted from new but branded as exide as well as fiat so if anything it’s an American brand but maybe made in Asia ?? What ever the case it did last well and I usually get as much out of a battery as I can

    I have exactly the same car and there is an extra clip that goes on another rod on the battery, when I remove this the battery is disconnected, at the end when you place your battery in the clip so there but not connected? This part of the car is confusing me please help

    There is a post that comes off the battery level monitor on the negative (black) post of the battery, this allows you to quickly disconnect the negative lead from the rest of the car, is this what you mean ?

    What 🤔? Did you not have to code the battery to the ECU? 😐
