SAVANNAH, GEORGIA | A few things we LOVE about Savannah

Savannah, Georgia-- one of our favorite cities in America! Savannah is full of history, southern charm, good food, and even beaches just a few minutes away. Today’s travel vlog we’re showing you some of our favorite spots around town: Collins Quarter, Forsyth Park, Jones Street, Leopold’s Ice Cream, and more! While it’s impossible to show everything that makes Savannah special in one video, we’re doing the best we can to show you a good bit in one day. I live in Savannah. Two big things you missed are City Market and River & Bay Streets. City Market has a lot of shops and restaurants. River street is right on the Savannah River and it has TONS of shops and restaurants. You can also take ferries across the river. Bay Street is just above that and has nice restaurants. There is also Broughton Street, which is where Leopold’s Ice Cream is. There are a lot of nice shops and restaurants.

Welcome! 😊 I've lived near downtown, and what we call the Southside, which seems more suburban, but is still within the city limits, and both are perfectly good for families. There are other towns nearby, including Pooler, that are definitely the 'burbs, with lots of newer homes. It all depends on what you and your family are looking for. If you have any specific questions I'll happily answer them.

Go to River Street and eat the chicken fingers at Spankys, they are the best ! If you're lucky you might catch one of the huge container ports pulling into port. They pass by literally a stones throw from the rivers edge and quite impressive. Savannah has one of the largest/busiest ports in the country and I don't care how unimpressive it sounds when one of them rolls by you it will be something you won't forget.

From the most common like Bonaventure Cemetery and Wormsloe Plantation (both beautiful and picture worthy to amazing restaurants and hidden pieces of history everywhere. I’d suggest Treylor Park (location on Bay St) and their PB&J wings and fried banana pepper basket. 😋 La Gourmet Cafe has some amazing French pastries and bread and Little Duck Diner is the cutest place and serves nice, fresh food. Honestly, I could go on and on! Check out the little “park” (grassy area) that runs along Colonial Cemetery. They used to have duels there back in the day. 😳 Ugh! I just love Savannah! Hello! I grew up the first 25 years of my life about 45 minutes from Savannah. I do have some recommendations the next time you come: Coffee: Cup to Cup Lunch: Roly Poly. Super low key. They have a buffalo chicken wrap that is top notch. Affordable Dinner: Sorry Charlie's. It's seafood without river street prices. Go All Out Dinner: Alligator Soul or Vic's on the River.

If you do get off... it is hard to get a seat to get back on... especially later in the day.. As Elks we stayed overnight at the Elks Lodge... few (one) camoground close to the city. Agree it is a beautiful city.... lots of parks as they described... but they are all close together.... you got to be in good shape to see everything. River Walk nice, but again VERY LITTLE parking.

Be advised that the bench never existed. It was a prop only. Savannah has zero benches in the squares facing the street. The traffic goes clockwise and for a bench to work the traffic must go counterclockwise or two way. Another pro tip is that you can also get ice cream outside security at the airport. There's never a line there. SCAD isn't the only reason Savannah is youthful, but also a contributing factor is the four military bases within an hour of Savannah. Ft Stewart, Parris island, NAS Beaufort, and Hunter AAF which is actually in the middle of Southside Savannah. You didn't mention the name of that street. It's Jones and it's considered the prettiest street in America. But here are other street you should see. Washington, 37th, Victory, and Abercorn between Victory and DeRanne.

Southeast Georgia!!!! Growing up here makes you a very unique individual that no one else is like...we have our own culture and way of life...accept no substitutes. There is no way I could explain Southeast Georgia to you that wouldn't take days or weeks I mean it can't be done in 15-20 minutes or even hours talking about a long long time to even give you the basics and even then don't think you'd understand. You ain't coming here and telling us "that's not how we did that where I came from" We'd tell you to turn around and get the hell out. And when I was a kid it might have been accompanied by shotguns. But as long as you mind your manners you ain't gonna have a problem as long as you're in the motel room by dark. If you ain't from around here you don't want to be driving at night with out of state plates trust me unless you're like on I-95 or something you don't want to be in rural Georgia driving at night out of state plates I guess we'll accept South Carolina Alabama North Carolina maybe Florida now Florida would be no no Florida would not be accepted...you are automatically a drug dealer.
