Fun fact about Saurophaganax, some fossils of this dinosaur were found next to, or in uranium. So I jokingly call Saurophaganax Godzilla, not because it's a big theropod, but you know, one we found was technically radioactive.

I love the Walking with Dinosaurs’ Allosaurus calls, they work so well for it.

That philosophy of alternate design to make the planet's dinosaur look like the earth's dinosaur is certainly an interesting one. I'd imagine they make a modern Parasaurolophus by introducing Charonosaurus which was designed to have a larger and bulkier crest. As well as Hypsirophus as a stand in for actual Stegosaurus in the game.

I thought I was the only person on earth who ever played it until I found the Carnivores Saga 😂

It's so great to see you back Saurian. Thank you so much for continuing your videos and keeping us up to date on Carnivores content. I also really like the still images you have with the dinosaur models. There's so much story telling that can come with it. What an awesome dinosaur! It's exciting to see more large theropods from the Jurassic Period added into Carnivores. It's an interesting mystery if whether it is its own genus or a larger Allosaurus. Hopefully more fossils will be discovered to answer that. Congratulations and great job to all those involved in developing the mod!

Nice!!!! Good to have you back I love watching your videos. This game is so nostalgic for me :)

Definitely LOVE its kill animation! The design is very good too! And some good nods to WWD. I like some of the Carnivores lore built up around it, and there are some things not as much. In regards to its real life counterpart, Saurophaganax maximus /Allosaurus maximus most likely evolved from Allosaurus fragilis, likely to fill the niche left behind by the then extinct Torvosaurus. The only “Allosaurus” it may have lived alongside would have been Allosaurus/Epanterias amplexus (assuming whether this species is valid, or IF it turns out that A/E amplexus is just a really BIG A. fragilis?). But the “amplexus” material does suggest an animal approximately 10-12 meters, like Saurophaganax, but more gracile in build like A. fragilis, whereas Saurophaganax appears to be much more robustly built in comparison.

Great vid as always! Glad to see you make them again! And yea, this dinosaur looks savage, and I think he looks best in blue Btw, is there any chance of there ever being an underwater mod for Carnivores? Do you know if something like that is on the horizon? Would be cool to hunt all these scary ancient sea creatures, but for a proper underwater hunting experience you have to completely change the physics of the game I imagine

I'm pretty late to this, but seeing my original concept brought to life in full animation is very humbling. I drew a Saurophaganax with this color scheme (blue body, red tail, purple in the middle) originally in high school in like 2014, then made one for a JPOG mod that's lost to time now, and then drew it a few times in that color scheme, eventually me and Poharex were concepting Plutyrian story, and JWE's Fallen Kingdom update had just come out and I was obsessed with the Allosaurus in that. The sleek design, the way it was the best carnivore statistically, and specifically Ian Malcom's line, "Optimized by Chaos", mentioning how it was something he feared more than the T.rex or Velociraptor, because of its unique adaptations, its perfect balance of size, speed, ferocity, and how aggressive the Allosaurus was, having a unique hatchery exit animation where it bit at the air violently. Seeing people still enjoyed this model enough despite the crazy lore we made for it is very nice. We had a lot more planned for Sauro, but it obviously never went anywhere due to community drama. While it does sort of seem that me being the one who designed and concepted it originally seems to have been a bit lost to time since P.Rex made the model, it's still good to see.

First, gotta say it's good to have you back, how's the surgery recovery going? Second, I've talked to real paleontologists about this, Saurophaganax is its own thing. It has different arm and head proportions and a more robust tail, and it comes from younger rock formations while Allosaurus is from older rock formations.

Such a vicious brute and one that would be among the most worthy of prey to hunters! Got any videos showcasing some of the other unique kill animations from the Carnivores mod scene for the big predators? As this one is bar none my favorite custom kill animation, RIP hunter getting bitten in half.

I good and reasonable that the Saurophaganax was rethink and delivered as a simple another additional big carnivore, and not just another second Gojirasaurus from the Triassic Area. The Gojirasaurus event where a lot of them escape thought this area and a little in the realm beyind in which they almost manage to made a great mass extinction (and thank godness any extinct species is to be recorded thankfully) should remain as something unique. It also would make no sense that Saurophaganax, if think as a natural animal, would destroy all the others animals on sight and represent a danger for the ecosystem. Thus he always already exist since the beginning in the games lore. If that was the case, that would be long ago that most species in the Jurassic area would have becomee xtinct, almosr entirely, and never meet even the humans when they arrived for the first time on the planet. So yes, it's better that it's just an additional bigcarnivore to hunt rather than an other plot element in a game where almost anyone care about the story anyway. It's good to have a story behind the things, but with games such the Carnivore ones, you can't go very far, since it's just hunting simulation for all. Except for Cityscape, which made his success and apart from the others since you can kill on sight all the dinosaurs you want without feeling sorry for since it ones brought on a human settlement on another planet and go into a rampage. That good story and major theme of the game combinaison ! That work here ! Also, nice to see you again !

hey saurian! got a challenge for you regarding Abandoned Islands. i call this challenge " no bullets wasted, no points earned" you must hunt deadly dinosaurs, only useing one weapon, and only double ammo for this challenge. if you use up all your ammo and atleast have killed 1-8 dinosaurs, the challenge is complete

I suck at understanding carnivores files, I think it would be incredibly cool if someone could make a carnivores mod where they take every carnivores mod that’s a one off dinosaur (so this, delphaeous ghoul, wendigo, etc) and mash them together into a roster of randoms. Mostly to make it easier for me to hunt these guys

Hey Saurian, love your dedication to the Carnivores series of games my man! Question for you that you may be able to answer. For the very first Carnivores game, do you know what the max possible size is for the Allosaurus or for every dinosaur for that matter? When I look at the Carnivores wiki they have the weight and length ranges but the Allosaurus one doesn't seem to be accurate considering I got one with a weight of 1.22T and a Length of 6.56m. The top length and weight for the Carnivores wiki says 5.88 m and 0.98 T for Allosaurus. The other upper lengths and weights for the other dinosaurs seems to be right as they match the highest values I've been able to find after extensive searching. I am trying to get the max sizes for all dinosaur species in the very first game and I was wondering if you'd be willing to help me out. Thank you so much!

For what I remember, the 2 animals that were better able to and successfully fend off and kill Saurophaganax were Triceratops and Therizinosaurus, coincidentally, two herbívores which tyrannosaurs evolved to be able to hunt

Pretty epic addon. It's a shame that Carnivores +, Triassic, and Mandibles were never properly finished. The unreleased remade models for the other Triassic animals (Plateosaurus, Edaphosaurus, and Liliensternus) looked great, I wonder what happened them?

Unfortunately my laptop is no longer in service so all I have is the PS4 Dinosaur Hunt. The apps on google play and IOS store no longer keeps progress and soon be taken off the market. Before long I can get back up with the games. Just need a proper laptop brand running off of HP Microsoft. Then I'll be back in the ballgame . The new modder's engine finally started working shortly before my laptop stopped updating itself. So I am sure the bugs are being worked out slow but well. And hope to play the other new mods avaliable

That thumbnail reminds me of Carnosaur if U remember that R rated dinosaur film meant 2 cash in on Jurassic Park.

In my head canon the saruophaganax would hunt by chasing prey down and having teeth and claws to rip off limbs/chunks of flesh and swallowing the flesh whole a very messy eater you could say.

That Saurophaganax is scary it looks like Allosaurus but bigger i would be surprised if they Added the Saurophaganax in the Game would have been cool but scary

Hello saurian i know it's been three days this video was uploaded but it is regarding the mobile port of carnivores and from a video made by SALA GOK it shows the dilophosaurus with full animation both idle, hunting, and so on. It would be nice if you could cover it and also i know an other channel who uploaded the unused content of the mobile port with the old coelophysis and the dilophosaurus if in your free time you could have a watch and check those videos for yourself if it isn't too much to ask also youtube wouldn't allow me to put the links in this comment so you will need to do the search

My Carnivores mods all for some reason forcefully return me to the huntmenu like five minutes into a hunt. Do you know any way to fix this? (Posting this on multiple videos in hopes too get the fastest response I can)
