Saucony Endorphin Rift First Run: Two runners try the ‘Endorphin Speed for the trails’

Спорт

The Saucony Endorphin Rift is a trail-running shoe built for speed, with a PWRRUN PB midsole and Saucony’s Speedroll rocker. It’s pitched as an Endorphin Speed for the trails, which sounds fantastic on paper. How does the Rift feel on the run? Tom and Nick have been out for a first run in the shoe to find out.

I like the look of the longer lugs, As soon as a company wants to make a fast shoe, they shave off the lugs then its just a hard pack summer shoe. Hopefully it has a stickier tread then the other Saucony trail shoes, they are lethal on wet rocks.

Ran the UTMB ETC, and my toes were destroyed going down hill. I think this is good for gradual inclines and declines on the trails.

Yeah, the toebox in this is too tapered, even compared to the Peregrine - kinda problem in the long run. Xodus Ultra 2 is a much better, more comfortable fit with no toe rub.

@@ericperramond3463 It's more an issue of forefoot lockdown and feet sliding forward. The lace loops don't go far enough down and only 4 loops is ridiculous for a trail shoe. I find myself curling my toes on downhills to take up space.

Trying to decide between these and NB Summit Unknown V4s SG for 5km-half marathon training on wet grass and muddy trails - and want something like my road running Endorphin Speeds for the trails

These will feel like the Endorphin speeds underfoot. Unfortunately, the fit sucks and there is not enough toe room and your big toe gets forced inward. Maybe try the Peregrine 14s, they have enough cushion for that distance.

@@RowOfMushyTiT Thanks, went for the NB Summit Unknowns but may try Peregrine in future or Topo MTN racer 3's

@@alkayuk Between the Summit Unknown and Rift, you made the right choice I think. Mud and grass you don't want a huge stack, you want to be connected to the ground. MTN racer looks good, but I'm waiting till they make a Pebax version.

Great shoe but it's not a long run shoe. It's rock solid. If you can run long in them then you are super human
