So far it's been a great, economical car!

I'm actually about to pick up a 2006 Vue, 5-speed. Your video was helpful in making my decision. Thank you!

Brayden Hancock: Hope you're enjoying yours as much as I am. Kindly read my recent comment and let me know how you perceive yours. Like to compare notes. I have mine 3 years. 20k miles annually, 75% highway driving. 28/32MPG.

I owned a 95 saturn sc2 2 door, 5 speed, I was driving up route 15 in PA. A guy came up on me, and wanted to race, he was in a BMW 318i I blew his doors off, he never caught up to me, that was at 195k, had it for years, the engine finally blew a rod at 372k, got a junk yard engine, and owned it for another 5 years, Saturn's are great cars, and when I sold it, the plastic Rubbermaid body panels, and stainless steel exaust still looks shiny and new, finally sold it in 2007. Looking at a 2003 saturn vue 4 cylinder 5 speed.

I have the 2006 base model with the same drivetrain. It's spirited when you merge on the highway, but thrifty and reliable. Think utility, not racing. I traverse 20k miles a year doing animal rescue transports in the Ozarks. Proper and religious maintenance will most likely outlast my last 3 Saturns, a 94, 96 and 2000, with well over 300k miles. I did switch up two tire sizes (with the correct aspect ratio) and with diligent driving I get 28 MPG in town. (Previously it was 27.) Easily 32 on the highway, the same as my former wife's 03 Corolla! You have a learning curve with the electric gas pedal and power ratio of the drivetrain. Steering, which is also electric assist, is a tad "loose" feeling, even after the new tires and 4 wheel alignment, but tracks straight and has a slight lag in emergency recovery manuevers. Roomy, great visibility and utility. Ride is a bit unruly on uneven rural roads, but the manual is a great advantage in gravel roads, and light offroading, the rear independent suspension Non ABS brake versions, usually only in the base 4 cylinder/manual shift, units are sure, firm and very capable. I have racked 200,000 and only replaced the whole clutch system, due to normal wear. In the near future a full cooling system going over. New water pump, hoses, clamps, thermostat, etc. Car was previously one owner and Carfaxed from new with the maintenance records/no accidents! Watch the 2005 and under automatic transmission models!!! Trannies known to wear out and no replacement parts, as the are CV style transmissions and not supported.

Is your Vue stock still? Some basic mods really wake that engine up. I tuned an 04 Vue Redline with a cold air intake, long tube headers, custom 2.5" Y pipe and exhaust. Was a totally different car after the tune and bolt ons and the owner has beaten countless Redline Ions and Cobalt SS drivers at the track. In fact to my knowledge he has never lost to a supercharged SS and only lost to 1 turbo SS which had a significant amount of internal work including aftermarket Pistons, rods and cams/valvetrain + a fairly large Precision turbo.

You mentioned that you have a focus too. I am currently having to decide between a 2004 Vue or a 2007 2d focus. I don't know what to choose. They're both sticks. Do you have an opinion of one over the other?

Nyssa Kat I'd take the VUE considering they are both in the same shape. And you will get better mileage out of the Saturn believe it or not

Ozarks rural roads, mostly gravel. The ground clearance is your limit. Nominally it's around 8 inches stock. I switched two tire sizes (appropriate aspect ratio) and added an inch. Forded a few dried up streams, washed out gravel roads, traversed some steep hills and a bit of offroading, no sand. Handled pretty nimbly, I might say. Not for big boy hill jumping.

I had a 94, 96 and 2000 that I sold with at least 325k on the low mileage one and 400k on the highest mileage. Now with my 06 Vue, with the 4 banger/5 speed, I'm shooting for at least 500k. Currently at 200k, March, 2023. Second owner, Carfaxed since new with maintenance records and paid $3700 three years ago.
