Abby your just one person, your hard work will pay off one of these day. You'll be sitting on your porch one of these in awe of how much you accomplished and still thanking God for Jay's invaluable help.
Hey Abby, the filter gets clogged really easily with sheet rock fine dust which stops the flow. Using a bag in the vacuume really helps but you still need to clean the filter a lot! So proud of all you have done!

LOL. I was kind of yelling, "Did you check the filter?" That dust can clog it up very quickly.

Please save yourself time and energy, use a spryer to paint all that space. You would have to paint some things by hand but using a spryer would make your life so much easier. You have done such a great job! Congratulations 🎉.
Jay has been a big part of your renovation but you, my dear, are the driving force. You have accomplished so much so far. Thanks for sharing Abby....

Oh my 😢 Your comment is so true and I am sure Jay would agree. Well said 🙏💕
Abby, your work ethic is great. It really shows how you were raised! So many people your age today don't have half the ambition that you have!
A nephew who does sheetrock told me to add a hose to the exhaust port on the shop vac and stick it out the window so any dust that gets past the filter goes out the window and not back into your house. Just a hint from someone who works with that all the time

Wow, that is interesting! Thank you.
Sheet rock dust is horrible. It will clog up the best of vacuum cleaners! Constant cleaning of the filter!!!

I was thinking that same thing 😊

@@susanbozard7906I was just about to say the same thing. 🤣 Yes CLEAN the filter, you can also put a second filter over the standard filter specifically for fine dust.
Once you are all done, have a hidden area like the closet, signing everyone's names that has worked on the house, dated and shellac. That is what we did to some of our previous homes, we signed and dated, covered up with wall paper or inside of a closet. Memories and it would answer who were the people before us that renovated the home. Great job, Abby and Jay!
Abby Suggestion .Rent an industrial floor sander and do your upstairs floors first . Apply 3 coats of urethane .Jay will know how to operate that machine . 😊😊😊
Sheet rock dust is fine like flour. Gets everywhere. You are very blessed to be doing sheetrock in a house no one is living in. When you live in a renno, the sheet rock dust really finds places to hide. Great progress.
Cleaning up the drywall dust is a real chore. One of the worst jobs we had to do while building our house. I kept damp mopping ours before we painted. You and Jay have done a wonderful job!
The doors are beautiful! No you didn’t tell us about the doors but now we know. Great choice!

LOL those are Mid Century Modern doors, what a you talking about? . So far the doors she installed are Second Empire and the bay window is as well.
Abby sounds like you need to replace the filter and run something down the hose .
You are making excellent progress, Abby!!! 🥰🎶❤️🎶🌻🎶🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🏡
clean the filter it will clag up very quick with drywall dust
You have come a Long way Abby. Been Watching Since day one. Painting an priming will be A wonderful thing.😊
Reverse blow out your 'shop vac' filter every so often. (That way more dust is removed with each cleaning)!
Just my 2 cents... it will look nicer if your doors match , especially next to the exterior door. Or... maybe painted white...
It will be so rewarding to get all the sheetrock dust cleaned up.
Why maple? I love the oak and would likely be easier to tie in with the existing doors and future floors.
Abby, don’t forget to vacuum the floor registers too! They will need it!👍💜🥰
Shop vacs are very handy. Good for both wet and dry uses, just make sure to have separate filters for each wet and dry vacuuming. Also while sucking up drywall dust you should clean the filter often to prevent it from clogging, ask me how I know lol. Your interior doors are going to be stunning! So exciting for you that things are getting to the "pretty stage" soon.
I like the Red Oak doors. They would look better than maple anyway and it probably more consistent with what would have been original. $350 is an excellent price. Especially for the quality that guy does.
The interior doors sound beautiful, great choice.
Don’t forget to wipe walls down before painting and filter probably just needs cleaned on Jim’s vacuum. Dry wall dust gets everywhere
Leave floor dry, tap big clumps with hammer. They will bust up small enough to vacuum.
You should probably replace the filter in your father's shop account, I'm sure it's plugged solid, and that's why it doesn't work well. You could burn out the motor otherwise.
Suggestion: the door into the bathroom beside the door outside - make these the same wood, or visually it will bug you if they are not the same. Oh and sheet rock? Vacuum, then vacuum, then vacuum and then vacuum. My parents swear buy mopping between vacuuming using one of the old school thread mops that you squeeze in a bucket like janitors used to use. Apparently it helps get more of the dust up in between each vacuum. And yes you will need to empty the bag/ vac a lot.
Hope floors are completely vacuum prior to painting. 😊
Very satisfying to watch the floors get vacuumed 😊
Missed a spot! Just kidding. You're such a hard worker. Will the floor grills have to stay? I think I'd replace all flooring downstairs just of cohesive look.
Oooh!! Your new shop vac is doing a good job!! So satisfying!! It looks different with the dark floors!! Lol!! It's ok, Abby!! No, I don't remember about the doors...but I might have forgotten, too!! Lol!! So excited for next video!! 💕👏👏👏
You should clean the filters on the shop vac
change the filter in the shop vac! Looking Good!
Hey Abby! You did not already tell us about the interior doors, so yay, can’t wait to see them, I love the design! Drywall dust is horrid, but it’s so exciting to be at this stage of the journey!
Abbey, did you clean the filter on your Dad's shop vac?? You need a shopvac anyway, but clean the filter often! So proud of you and your progress!
Yes, those drywall dust days seem never ending but be encouraged, they do 😌 Kerry going little sister♥️
I agree with the comment the dust will stop up the suction and keeping the filter clean will make a world of difference.
I would sand the floors before you paint. I think if you have the sander there, I'd try to sand the kitchen, dining area first, before ruling out and going with new.

I agree, floors before paint. Keep up the good work, Abby
Amazing young woman wonderful family and supportive friends all very amazing people. Love❤
Yep, floor registers and the vents need to be cleaned out!!
Abby, don't forget to vacuum all your radiators. They are full of dust, too. And floor vents. I hope you did your upper cubby holes, too. Wow, what amazing work you guys have done. I wouldn't worry about any kind of plants around your house till the siding is on. The most careful people reck plants . Doing their best not harm things. Wonderful job
I would want my floors to match continuous in the whole house 🤔 of couse not in kitchen, bathrooms and utility, tile in those rooms.
Most paint jobs is doing the celling’s first threw out the hole house. It is all hand work at first when cutting in the walls to celling with a brush before rolling. I would have some one come in and spay it all. Good luck
What are you going to do with the grates in the floor ? Are the radiators going to be hooked up after the floor? What are you going to do with the floor. Abby you amaze me with this renovation.
Good job cleaning up, can't wait to see the painting getting done. Enjoy the video's, thanks.
Question for you and you may have told us early on but why did you flip the kitchen and living room? I would think that the laundry room off the kitchen along with the side door would be more practical. Also the bay would look lovely as a sitting area.
@renfairegoddess
Ай бұрын
The comments section suggested to flip the room layout. The kitchen cabinets placement is much better in the current room.
I use to clean professionally and the places that had a central vac system were the best. Since you are building would be the best time!
Have you checked the filter on the vac that won't suck? Guess what happens when it gets clogged? I have two of those orange vacs and they work well.
Looking great Abbey 😊
When is your finished texture going to be put on your walls?
Oh my goodness it is almost there. It is amazing! The doors are worth the wait. It is going to be a show case when finished. Peace!
I love your choice for interior doors. They will be beautiful. Your little house renovation is coming right along.
You could put a piece of plastic over the door in the bathroom to keep the dust out
That dust plugs the filter and it needs to be blown out. Take the top of and look at the filter. If you don’t do this you can burn the motor out.Do it.
Abby take the new shop vac manual home and read it, or look it up online. Being able to change the filter more often will make the shop vac lighter in weight and the suction will be better. And of course always wear your mask.
The doors are beautiful! I'm sure they will be wonderful quality. I hope when you pick out the new floors they will match the original ones you are keeping. Especially since they will connect between spaces.
Looking good Abby!
Great price on interior doors! Impossible to get those prices at the big box lumber yards. Don't forget baseboards to coincide with door casing.
Although I must say, that shop vac seems to be handling the dust just fine. So for this one house, it will probably be alright.
I really like your enthusiasm! And find myself constantly amazed at what you and your helpers are accomplishing. I think you said something about installing a new floor, but not what you plan for it. You could always hire a floor sander, (one with a large dust bag!) to prep for carpet or tile overlay. Maybe parquet in the high traffic areas or even slate for the entrance? Really love what you are doing. I know you will feel accomplished when you have your house warming!
Wipe up sheet rock dust from the floors with vegetable oil and then mop, and it's gone!
You could paint your living room interior doors the same color as your walls. Its cheaper and will make the living room seem bigger. The LR wont be so busy that way too.. Just a suggestion. 😊
The doors look like they will be beautiful
Ya gotta clean the filters. Drywall spackle is very hard on regular vacuum filters
Re vacuum, then do a damp mop on the floor, this will help reduce more dust.
Don't do it with the vacuum cleaner. You'll have to do it with rags and buckets of water if you don't want to get your vacuum cleaner stuck. I learned that the hard way.

Exactly 💯 💯 💯
So exciting to watch the progress on your lovely home
As the farmers would say. You are down to the short rows. 😊
That’s an incredibly amazing price. I’m thinking a rugged outside push broom might help loosen up some of the stubborn dust with less exertion than by hand on your knees. A plastic putty knife for wet clumps on the good floors. Anyway without any other input I’d try that.
Always check the filter Abby in your vac. That dust really builds up.
I thought you had the former doors to use and restore but the maple sounds gorgeous. I have maple cabinets and they are lovely and warm
Good job Abby
You are doing a great job. Keep it up.😊
Try to find a vacuum wand that has bristles, it works so much better. Looking forward to the painting!
Love the design you showed for the interior doors!! Beautiful!
Just beautiful! Much progress!
Abby it's ok... don't worry things will come together sooner than you think. So proud of all you have accomplished ❤
I don't think you've mentioned the details on the inside doors. I don't miss an episode. 😂 I love seeing the progress. But,,, I'm glad you're almost ready for primer.
I hope you have a paper filter over your foam sleeve to keep the dust out of the motor. And it will take a lot of paper filters!
If you have cracks in between the boards in your floors, I'd highly recommend filling them with wood filler. Just did my bedroom floor. It's a huge difference. Just fyi
Those doors will be beautiful!! But not red oak, I agree!!
Progress is a beautiful thing.
Eerste groetjes Jan 👍🇧🇪
Yes, beautiful to be alive! We are coming alive in Alaska! I fixed a number of bikes this spring and they are selling (fun to hit the trail) so I am happy for that. I am texting B4 watching, excited to get caught up on your progress on the 150 ish.., farm house. Thank You in advance for cheering me up and happy Sunday to everyone. I might not be your Best Fan, but there is none better. Take care and hello to Skip for me.😊 About to again get Inspired..
Abbs, why don’t you have the doors made to match your outer doors. I love the color of those doors?
Constant cleaning of the filter!!!
Abby how are you getting the dust out of the radiators?
Great video
Woo-hoo. Hello Abby. House is looking good.
Nice looking at your accomplished project.
just my opinion but i would have the same flooring throughout
I love the design of the new doors and the color choice!! You go young lady 🙏💞
Love the style of your interior doors!! Price sounds very good for custom doors!
Love the doors and sounds like a Great price, you really must get them from him(if at all possiable) or you will regret it.
Hey, no texting while vacuuming lol. House is really taking shape, can’t wait for some paint action.
You need one of those wall sanders with the vac. They are not that expensive and save time and your body. I have seen them used on floors and ceilings and there virtually is no dust.
The as filter is very to replace. We always keep extra filters. Are you spraying the primer? If so take the time to tape up everything first. Looking great!!!🙏
❤😊looking good 😊
You look Marvelous! ( with or without dust )
Abby i don't remember you telling us the color of the doors. Thank you for showing them as that looks beautifully. Having Jay help you so much is so wonderful. I know you learned alot from him. God bless you and keep you all safe who helps you on your house. Can't wait for Tuesday to see what is next.
