Satellite operation on Battery for Field Day or Emergency AO-91

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I will show you a simple idea, on how to use a Battery that in regular time used in the kid's toy, but when needed, can be a great source for power for Field day or Emergency. You just need to set up a simple cable with the right connectors and you are ready. To test my configuration, for fun, I did a test with a Satellite QSO during night time. I hope that this will give you some ideas that fits your needs. Enjoy, 73.

Hi this is Wally. Very good like your battery backup power supply. A auto resetable thermal cutout might be a good safeguard for shorts or overloading.Double glued heatshrinking is better and safer than insulation tape. Thank you

Thanks Grant! Yes, that's the Arrow antenna and I love it! Light and works great :) And the base station that I used in this video is the BTech UV-24x4 (144/220/440). It was designed for cars but It's a great addition to the permanent station. 73!

Thanks for your feedback. I think that I can recommend on how to avoid that. Please take a closer look on my setup. I'm not actually using the arrow cable itself. I added a male-to-male connector and I'm using another cable that connects to my transceiver. In the video, you can see that I'm connecting the cable to it. This way, the Arrow cable is sticked to the handle, not moving and with less chances to get damage. I hope it can help you as well. 73!
