@@zephyr1781 not all songs have to be pop-y mainstream. Her songs have actual meanings and stories behind them. They're personal yet relatable at the same time. Her voice doesn't have to reach every high and low note, especially not in this song that's supposed to show itself in it's lyrics more than anything. She was never off tone. Smh on you for calling this a "bad" song.

While my husband and I were going through a rough patch I bawled my eyes out to this song. I used to blame my parents for not making things work. I used to blame them for not choosing to love eachother, but then experiencing my own rough patch in marriage I realized not everyone can continue to love when the person you love keeps hurting you. This song put it into words perfectly. (Btw my husband and I are fine and very happy now ☺️)

There is a quiet and beautiful retro MAGIC in the singing of Sasha Sloan... She's worth listening to. And no, she is not a screaming rock ‘n’ roll artist, but if you listen closely to the words reminiscing about a little girl and what it was like to grow up and realizing life is not always made up of “perfect moments” there is a great “quiet” magic in this performance! If you listen to the words clearly and carefully, possibly it will bring you back to your youth and remembering things that you are still consciously or subconsciously processing- it’s a great song! I love how understated she is on stage-her ego seems to be totally at peace with being just who she is. Discovering new and talented singing artists is always a pleasure and a treasure!

@Chrysaura Nor did I say she was a screaming rock 'n roll artist-and never was there a comparison that I made. I would politely and compassionately suggest you check into eyeglasses. Furthermore, I happen to love screaming rock 'n roll artists-whether it's Meatloaf, the incomparable Little Richie, or a host of other rock 'n roll singers who have blossomed beautifully in full high-volume regalia in that genre. However, Sasha Sloan is… as I said, is "quiet magic"-yes, a beautiful sense of something so powerful blossoming, but yet so hypnotically clear in her story.

@@MikeJacobsPoetry Thanks, Mike. What a nice thing to say. I grew up listening to great singer songwriters, but I still love Judas Priest and AC DC. Both musical expressions are legitimate along with many other genres. So I have room in my heart and music library for all well expressed forms. ZZ Top and Janis Ian are not mutually exclusive. It's sad that so many people don't realize that, but they are entitled to their POV, so calm your heart my friend. Life's too short to worry about random KZread comments. Be well.
