Sartorial Tips #1: How to Tie a Trench Coat Belt in the Back Two Ways
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I wanted to show two ways you can tie the trench coat belt in the back - for when you are not using the belt to close your coat and/or as a decorative element.
The trench coat shown is a Burberry London trench coat in navy that I purchased from the flagship Burberry store on Newbury Street in Boston in the Spring of 2011.

Nice video. Just a comment for men. While the half Windsor is probably the more masculine looking of the two, note that, like a half Windsor tie knot, it's a slip knot, so if you're not careful the non-buckle side can slide up and release the knot. While the second version is a slip knot as well, it's the buckle side that's sliding so it's more difficult for the entire thing to come loose.

Good to know, thank you for watching and the tip
I have been trying to find a video to show me how to tie the back of my new trench coat since I had to wash it and pulled the belt out and HATED it loose! Your video was the easiest and clearest to follow, and I'm very grateful!

You're very welcome! I've been meaning to rerecord this too, maybe as a short; it's one of the first videos I made for my channel before I started doing more fashion unboxings.
Great video. Easy to follow along. It is nice to hear the instructions instead of music.

Thank you so much for your tutorial video. I've just purchased a trench coat by Burberry for my graduation gift and I was kinda worried because I couldn't tie the belt as what the shop retailers did on the day. Now I am relieved! :)

You're welcome and congrats on the trench coat. It was my first big splurge when I got my first job out of college.
Thank you so much for this video! Never thought I would some day be looking for this type of video, but the belt on my new coat just wasn't working with me at all because of the thicker material it's made of. You saved me!

I never tie the belt in the front to close the coat, so I think it looks nice tied in the back.
Thank you. This was very helpful.

My London Fog trench has a small length of strap on the back of the belt that has two buttons attached. Any idea what that is for and what to do with it?
Very nice I have many Burberry trench coat and I didn’t know how to do it 👌🙏🏼

Thank you, glade it was helfpul. I got this coat over five years ago I think. Currently this is probably closest to the Chelsea short heritage trench coat in navy, except the back of the collar is the beat check (dark, tonal) instead of the classic haymarket check. I chose this pattern because I wanted the check to be more subtle.

How old is your trench? I ask because it looks a bit faded in colour - or is it just the lighting?

When I made this video, I think it's been a good 4 or 5 years; it was my first designer purchase. It is a little faded, but I think I also had to adjust the contrast in the video, so you can could see all the edges and folds.

You're welcome. Enjoy the trench coat, perhaps this video helped you tie your belt 😊
Firstly I didn’t like you to use a dark color coat to show people how to tie, it’s hard to understand, and second I think this methods only works on short belt and unfortunately most belt are longer.
