Saramonic Blink 500 Review | Dual Channel 2.4ghz | Mic Port | RØDE Go Alternative

Saramonic has been bringing quality budget friendly audio products for awhile, my first wireless lav setup was their popular Uwmic9 series. Saramonic is now entering the small form factor 2.4ghz audio game with this extremely well priced Dual Channel Wireless Lav kit, the Blink 500. Competing in the same form factor as the RODE wireless GO, both produce great results, but how is Saramonic able to offer a dual channel audio setup for only $250? Find out in this week's episode!

I can see this being especially useful for all the people I saw using cellphones for their interview coverage at NAB. That Slim Smartphone adapter really keeps the setup down even more! I will be retesting the RODE GO and the Picomic in similar conditions to see how long they last when being pushed to the worst scenario. A good review of the system. For the last two years I’ve been using the Blink 500 with USB C receiver for audio on the videos I shot with my iPadPro3. When I recently decided to up my video game with a Canon R6mkII I was happy to find the DLSR receiver at B&H Photo for $69.

Hey hey IslandDigital! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I'm so glad this video helped! In my most updated tests I found that the Blink500's audio quality is very close in sound and noise floor performance against the RODE GO, the battery life is the only area where it did not excel. That video can be found here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmhrlqSuXZqspMo.html It's a long one but I have timecodes in the pinned comment so you can jump around to the tests you want to see! Hope this further reconfirms your decision or possibly give you an idea for another system. Specifically right now my favorite budget system is the Comica BoomXU I just reviewed: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWqopqqAhcWZlps.html If you need a solid dual channel system, this is the best budget system I have tests that uses the 500mhz frequency (Free to use in USA) instead of the 2.4ghz (blink, rode, and many others, free to use internationally). What this usually equates to is less chance of interference when you are in a heavy wifi spot, and better line of sight performance outdoors depending on how you want to use the system. Sorry this is a bunch of info, but I just want to make sure you are aware of the budget range options out there that performed well! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Bro!!! Big props on the content and the very valuable info. You have earned my subscription and helped me make a decision as fitness influencer on the gear ⚙️ 🎤 I’ll need to start my new series, which will involve two person audio. I bounced back and forth between the Picomic and BLINK 500 this weekend. It’s beneficial for me and just as good of an option as any to go with the Blink 500. I have been using the Rode Go for my videos and works awesomely. But I don’t want to load my camera with preamps and additional receivers to have two Go’s! Thanks!

Hey hey Opportunity Knocks! Thank you so much for checking out this video and for the kind words! I recently reviewed a small UHF wireless audio kit thats similar in size, it works but the audio quality feels like it's already processed a bit inside. (Video review here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/a3x1rtGsaa3gXco.html ) It's not a bad thing, but I can see how some seasoned filmmakers will want a more raw audio than processed. But for beginners? Perfect little setup to get started. Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

If you haven't already, definitely check out my 6 tricks I do with the RODE GO (especially the reporter mic trick) here kzread.info/dash/bejne/fXaA0dR6dta3n9o.html I've used the reporter mic setup quite a few times and its definitely be helpful to have the ability to do that setup quickly because for the TX also having the same hotshoe size. • @TLDR_filmmaker

Hey hey Customary Land Solutions! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! The Blink500 is rated to have a latency less than 6ms, which I think the RODE and Picomic are about there as well. The Deity Connect, I believe has, a higher Latency because of how its frequency hopping it achieved. I can't remember how much latency exactly, but that could potentially have been fixed via firmware as Deity has made improvement before on that system. Hope this helps! • @TLDR_filmmaker

    @TLDR_filmmaker

    4 жыл бұрын

Hey hey Steller Jay Films! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Unfortunately you cannot split the TX to their own Left and Right Channels, they will overlap by default. This was one of the cost saving measures they have to make to bring the price down this far, but also because the Blink500 system is meant to be a set it up and get what you need without additional post audio work. I know for my needs, I'd love to have the channels split, but I also know that there are times where I don't want that, mainly if I go to a tradeshow or grabbing quick interviews. Hey hey Don Kikon! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I haven't actively searched for any RODE GO bugs videos as both my units are still operating without problems. I only really know about the 1st gen Windmuffs not staying connected easily and that some people's Mic Port stop working. Mannnnnn, let me tell you how tired I was when recording this video. KZread unfortunately is not my full time job...yet. So, like many, I gotta find time to do it. Staring at teleprompt text notes while making sure my eyes don't shift away from the center of the lens is quite cumbersome lol. But then again... maybe this is the way I blink when I'm in "educator" mode. I do know that my body language and facial language changes depending on what kind of mindset I'm in. One of the reasons I enjoy acting where I explore and shift my external non-vocal language cues to see if it matches a character in the script. Greetings Adam TV! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Honestly, so far all the small form 2.4ghz wireless mics I've reviewed will be under the $600 USD budget, the only one that requires a little extra work/purchases is the RODE GO. Long story short, in my opinion, it depends on if you want to use a clip on mic vs a wired lavalier mic. If you don't want to mess with wires, I would recommend the Picomic (review here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqiTydF6XZDgmNI.html ) If you want a budget option with a wired mic, this Saramonic works great and gives you everything you need right out of the box. Sound quality will be different between the two because of its mic technologies, at that point you will need to ask yourself if form is more important to you than function. Sometimes, for me, the form is more important than the function, especially if the film I'm making doesn't necessarily need the high fidelity audio that most audiences won't know the difference. If you understand the need and have the desire to edit the audio in post production with a dual channel split to the left channel for one person, and right channel for another. Then this is where you could go with any system depending on your budget, but if you don't understand the need for it, then disregard this portion of the comment because it's another vast topic that I haven't covered in great detail yet, only a simple video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaGoqcyLhLSyZdo.html Hope this helps! Hey hey again Rajiv! Haha you are definitely the first comment on this video! I agree, for this price point, this is more than acceptable out of the box, I was surprised how it sounded without me doing anything. Adding the compressor further enriched my voice and all is good! As for color grading cinestyle 80D footage. Its been a loooong time since I used a canon camera. But the theory is all the same and will be something I will tackle eventually in terms of how I approach color grading Long story short, I primarily grade with Luma Waveforms and Vectorscopes from my NLE (FCPX). Because of my understanding of the charts, I am able to make the adjustments I desire on a technical aspect and visual aspect in terms of exposure and color. I would begin learning about these scopes with any other videos on youtube right now, and that should help you get the grades you want out of the 80D. Hope this helps! See you in the next one!

Hey hey Richard! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I'm not entirely sure if I'm seeing the same sync issues, I'm rewatching now and my mouth, to me, seems to be making the right movements during words with "M" and "S"' sounds. I'm not sure if this is your case, but I do know that bluetooth headphones sometimes have a latency when it comes to watching youtube videos. My old bluetooth headphones were nearly 1 second off, my new bluetooth headphones are about that 2-5 frame range. The odd thing is... the bluetooth headphones works are not out of sync when watching videos that are already uploaded into my phones memory. Have no idea if this is your case in terms of viewing the video, but for me watching it on the computer and TV it seems to be in sync. Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

This looks like a great little system. I have a Deity Connect dual system for my bigger setups, but been looking for something small and unobtrusive for run and gun guerilla style where you might need to steel some shots... This looks like it could fit the bill. The Deity get's a little big with the dual receiver on top of the camera. But did you say this was mono out? It combines both transmitters into a mono track?

Hey hey Waleed! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Hmm, if you are using both TX at the same time, I'm wondering if one of the TX is not latching onto a good signal so there is more latency in one over the other. I would go through the relinking steps between the TX and RX and see if that helps. I can't remember how to do it as I no longer have this setup. I believe there was a pinhole somewhere that you stuck a needle through to reset the connections. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Hi TLDR, nice vid! Timing is perfect as I have a rode filmmaking kit but it’s not convenient and carries more bulk for light setup, but sound quality is good. Was looking at your vid comparison between Pico and Rode Go and now this. Depending on use cases as you mentioned, can’t really go wrong with the three. Some questions: 1) if you use only 1 tx for the client and after it runs out of battery, will you be able to switch to the other tx for continuous recording. Then the tx that’s out of battery can be charged up or can you charge it with a power bank for unlimited recording as long as there is power? 2) are there wind muffs available for these tx if you don’t use the lav mics? 3) will you try to use both tx and seeing how it performs? Keep up the good contents! Am about to see your review on S1H

Hey hey Nomad 24! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking some questions! 1) If you mean to instantly switch as it happens, this could be difficult as you'd need to turn on the other unit the moment the others goes out. However there are two ways to go about this. The first way is to simply have a battery bank connected to the TX so that it can stay powered for hours and hours. If you don't want that additional bulk, then I would make sure to check for the red light status light on the TX in between takes, if its red, go ahead and leave the lav on the talent and simply swap out the TX units (pre-paired to the RX) and then go ahead and recharge the one TX while the 2nd is being used. Since it only takes 1.5ish hours to full recharge a dead TX, the TX will be recharge fully before the 2nd TX dies. 2) There are no dead cat style windmuffs that comes in the box, that will be something you'd have to purchase additionally. 3) I will be doing another video testing a scenario using the two lavs at the same time to see if its sufficient for a beginners short film. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

Hey hey Dominick! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I do not have any experience with the Uwmic15, only the Uwmic9 that I still own. It looks like the 15 might just be a budget stripped down version of 9 without the dual channel and extra 500mhz channels to choose from. The extra channels on the 9 system will let you find the cleanest channel wherever you happen to be filming. I've slowly moved away from these systems for most of my film work because of the size of the TX and RX. However a UHF system does have it's advantages over a small 2.4ghz system, the hard answer is "it depends on what you're doing" If you are a youtuber at home and don't work with clients, then a 2.4ghz system is just fine and keeps things small. You can of course still use the 2.4ghz with clients as I have. But if you are out and about doing almost live new broadcast stuff, then I would go with a UHF system to try and negate any sort of surrounding area interferences. The 2.4ghz is great when theres line of site outside in an open area, but can run into problems if its crowded with people passing by in front of it etc. Of course all these things can be fixed if you are aware of the filming situation and how to ensure your system doesn't fail. But sometimes we don't have time or can't plan ahead for it. Hope this helps, its the best answer I can give without knowing exactly what you're planning to film. Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

Hello my friend. First of all, congratulate your channel. I would like to know between this model of Saramonic Blink 500 B2 and the models of BOYA (BOYA BY WM4 PRO, BY WM6, WM8 and etc.) all wireless, what are the main characteristics that differentiate you in the market? I'm looking for a wireless microphone for home use, home videos and to use on my smartphone, but that had a good cost-benefit ratio. Another question I have is that if I buy the normal version of it (Blink 500 B2) and put an adapter on my smartphone will it work normally? Mine is a HUAWEI P30 PRO (connection type C) because only then could I reuse the microphone in DSLR cameras and in the notebook sporadically. Friend, is there a dead cat that I find to use in the fixed microphone of this device? Why did I see that when used to record in windy environments using it (without using the lapel microphone), there is a lot of noise? Grateful for the help and attention. Strong hug.

Hey hey Allann! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! While I haven't gotten to review any of the Boya wireless mic models, I can't give a definitive answer as to how those compare. The major 2.4ghz mics I have reviewed are in this large video comparison (if you haven't seen it already) kzread.info/dash/bejne/pn112pdmibqXibA.html In terms of what could potentially differentiate them is either overall physical design, performance, price point, included accessories, and extra features. Specifically the Saramonic, while it can receive two Mic TX, it will mix it into a Mono signal instead of stereo. More mid-professionals would like the ability to have 2ch audio instead of 1. I will be reviewing the Comica BoomXD soon that gives you the receiver (RX) the option to provide a mono or stereo signal. As for your smartphone, if it does not have a headphone + Mic combo port (TRRS) and only has a USB-C, then you will most likely need to get a USB-C to TRRS adapter that will work with your phone. From there you can connect the BLink500 system to your phone with the included TRS to TRRS cable. There is no official Deadcat for the Blink500, however if you look for a Deadcat Sock that large enough, you can use that to cover up your Mic TX. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Can you charge them with a USB-C to USB-C cable together with a USB-C charger? Or does it only work with the USB-C to USB-A cable that comes in the box? I'm asking this because lots of USB-C devices don't implement the USB-C spec properly and as a result won't work with a USB-C charger. And if you have the time, could you also test this with the Rode Wireless Go? Much appreciated!

Hey hey Jianan Li! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I unfortunately do not know the answer to that question as I don't actually have a USB-C charger. I may be the last person on earth that doesn't have a straight up USB-C device lol. I did not realize that some companies don't implement the full USB-C specs, that makes sense though as I do recall some USB-C LED devices can't work off of a USB-C battery bank. I hate to say it, but I assume that companies like Saramonic and RODE that have been in this market for a long while, knows better than to not fully support the USB-C protocol. Hopefully someone else in the comments can chime in on their experiences with a USB-C charger. Sorry I couldn't provide a definitive answer. Would the saramonic paired with a Sony icd-ux560 make a good vlogging configuration for recording 2 kids and one camera man? I’m sure the cameraman will be recorded directly to the camera. Hey hey Liana! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Unfortunately because you are mixing different protocols for sound input and output, theres no way that I'm aware of unless your phones video conference program allows you to select where you want your mic to come from and where you want your sound the come from. That being said, is there a reason you're not just using the Redmi Airdots as your mic and headphones? (I'm assuming because the mic in the Airdots may not be as good?) This may be the better solution is to just fully go with earbuds as you teach yoga so that you don't have the Blink hanging on your shirt or a wired lav mic. Thanks again for stopping by! I plan on mostly using the lav, but tested out the built in mics for fun and there is this really nasty interference sound. Back in the days (really like 6 years ago) I wasn't willing to pay $650 for a wireless lav kit for my needs unless I was using it everyday. I am definitely waiting to see which company will make a fully waterproof up to 10ft of water small TX and RX, that would be wonderful for sure! As for the sign.... yea... I saw it there, and theres nothing I can do about it cause the other parking lot was filled with cars lol. Gotta keep these tests interesting somehow! lol Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

Amazing review! You’re doing a very good job! I have a question: can I plug a conference microphone instead of the lavalier microphone in the 3.5 input of one transmitter? If it is yes I could use one lav mic for me, the presenter, and the other transmitter for a small conference table of 3-4 people and thus get rid of sound mixers and cables! Could I plug a mic like this for example? www.getolympus.com/us/en/boundary-microphone-me-33.html If not, the mic included or another mic could capture voices quite well from a distance of 1.5 meters? Thank you for any help!!

Hey hey Alexis! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! So I will answer this in a couple different ways, but for the major question. Yes, you can plug that boundary microphone into wireless mic transmitters as it uses the same power voltage as these lavalier mics. So you're good to to there. The next answer is really dependent on how are you using this setup, is it for a video camera, live stream, or an actual conference where you are plugging this wireless set into a PA system. For Video, if you plan to edit the video and audio. I would suggest to get the new Comica Boom XU I just reviewed. (video here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWqopqqAhcWZlps.html ) Mainly because of the "Stereo Split" feature that this Blink500 does not have. Meaning if someone at the conference table while you're speaking is making all sorts of sounds, theres no way for you to edit that out later because the Blink500 mixes everything. The comica has the option to split your voice to the RIGHT channel, and the table voices to the LEFT channel. So you can play with the volume levels if you need to later, and then render out your edit in a Mixed Dual Mono and have it sound nice and clean. If you have no desire to edit the video and want to go mono mixed right out the gate. I would actually still suggest the Comica Boom XU simply because its not a 2.4ghz system where wifi and cellphones could potentially interfere, depending on where you are. The Comica Boom XU is a traditional 500mhz system and has incredible solid signal. (This frequency is legal to use in the USA) If you are live streaming or going through a PA system. I'd again still steer you to the Comica. Just make sure you have all the other proper equipment needed to feed audio into those setups. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

I would suggest you check out my major comparison video where I tested my Saramonic uwmic9 against two other Mics similar to the Blink 500. The Blink 500 was not available when I made this review but simply just compare the Uwmic9 against the RODE GO and you will have a comparison to base off of. I unfortunately cannot tell you which one is better because it really depends on what you film, and how you like to film. My filming situations is most likely very different from yours so my needs and concerns will also be different. Hey Swiss Oats! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I actually ran into this problem with a different system when I was trying to come up with a solution for this video I recently did: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m4GHw8ePdZCdh5s.html ... A USB audio interface is a sure fire way to get any computer, especially laptops without a dedicate mic port, to work. I did some research about this and apparently Apple is very odd and stingy about what they consider is a microphone, like the impedance of the wire isn't to their spec or something... not cool Apple. There was a workaround I was able to do, annoying but it worked, plug in the RODE video micro via splitter to activate Mac's external mic protocol, the disconnect the RODE from the splitter (but leave the splitter cable in the mac) and then plug in your blink500. I was able to get it to work this way by tricking the Mac to saying in "external mic" mode. (ugh) Not the most elegant of solutions but if it works for you and you don't mind it for the time being, it'll save you 60+ dollars. I hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Hey hey Ойбек Зухуров! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! This really depends on your budget and of course what's readily available in Uzbekistan. If you are on a tight budget and a beginner in terms of your understanding with how to work with audio in editing, and want easy setup, the Saramonic Blink500 B2 will do just fine. If you have some budget to spare to purchase additional items for a higher audio quality setup. I would opt for 2x RODE Wireless GO for the longer battery life and robust build. Depending on your camera you can either get a cheap stereo mic splitter that and then edit the audio in post (I show this in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaGoqcyLhLSyZdo.html ) or you could purchase a DSLR Pre-amp to record both RODE GO's into a mono signal. If everything I said about the dual RODE GO setup did not make sense, then I would again recommend the Saramonic Blink500 for easy plug and go dual audio. Hope this helps! Greetings from the USA! In theory it should, if the smartphone has a buildin headphone jack or a USB-C adapter, they are always going to be a TRRS style plug. So simply use the TRS to TRRS cable in the set and plug the TRRS (three black rings) into the phone. From there it really depends on your phone and if it recognizes that a microphone has been plugged in, it should, but with so many phones out there with their own hardware parameters, you just never know until you try. "can't separate the channels .. Is it a con? No" yes it is. It isn't cost them anything extra to split the channels. If they split it with a firmware update, I would buy it straight away. • @TLDR_filmmaker

Hey hey Jac! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! It's unfortunately not as simple with a firmware update, most likely it's the hardware chips. To have two TX's going to one RX, the RX will need to have the capacity to instruct the two TX's to jump frequencies while not crossing with each other to get any frequencies bleeds in audio. After that it will then direct the signals to their R and L channels. For Saramonic is not so much as an oversight but rather their intended market of beginning filmmakers. For us seasoned video creators we definitely see this as a con as I too would love to split the channel, but I also understand who they are going for with their given price point. Not a big deal, it just simply means its not the right tool for my needs and like you, I have two RODE Go's. I bought Two RODE GO's the moment they were ready for pre-order as I knew exactly why I needed them. 2019 has been one heck of a year for small wireless audio, I can't wait to see how it continues to progress now that RODE opened the competition up so far Picomic and my most recent review of the Sokani TINY have created some interested small form wireless mics to try and dethrone the RODE. If you can’t turn down one mic in post you double your background noise. So non optimal in a noisy environment. I think buying 2 single channel systems may make more sense. Good review though.

Looks like I will need to add that to my tests moving forward, I didn't realize that some people wanted to hear these mics in worst cast scenarios to see how the handle. I come from a narrative film background so we are always trying to avoid extra noise and not film in those conditions unless absolutely necessary. This is why I never thought to test in a loud environment cause I figured you'd hear it no matter what. Except for the Sokani Tiny that I reviewed here, they have a very aggressive internal noise gate where if you are just on the verge of that threshold you'll be battling the distorted sounds, but in other circumstances it cuts the noise out completely. Hey hey Stephen! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! Sorry I'm a couple days late to respond, catching up on all comments as fast as I can :) So how this system works is there is not cutting between the two speakers, this system shoots out a mono mixed output so there's nothing extra you have to do when you get into the editing room. However there are some disadvantages depending on what you are going for. Because everything is already mixed, should the second speaker breath loudly or something, you're not going to be able to lower his mic later in the edit. Not to say this would common, but just know that there is no way for you to edit the mics individually later on. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

The sound is superior on the RODE.

  • @TLDR_filmmaker

    4 жыл бұрын

Hey hey Claire! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I don't disagree with you, in my big battle royal video that I uploaded yesterday I crowned the RODE Go as my overall winner. For me, as I said in the video, the Blink500 serves a different audience, mainly beginning filmmakers that are investing into their first wireless audio kit. Based on the same idea, I consider it a RODE GO alternative for budget conscious creators that understand that the RODE go is better, however to buy two systems and two decent lavs to get the better quality sound externally can add up well past $250. It's definitely a pros and cons list they have to determine for themselves to see if they can front the money first. For them I always present the idea that if they were to ask anyone on the street to watch one of their videos without telling them to pay attention to the audio and then asking them later if they noticed anything wrong. The answer is usually "no" the audience consuming the content wouldn't have known and to some degree won't even hear it once you tell them what is wrong. I proved this point in one of my videos where halfway through the video I switched from my RODE Go to a $15 lav that I used from the beginning of my channel. When I asked at the end of the video if anyone even noticed that I switched mics, no one knew. Obviously I adjusted some things in post to match the sounds, but a $15 wired into GH5 lav gave nearly the same sound as a $200 + a different lav and the audience didn't know and wasn't paying attention to it because they were focusing on the content. For me, the RODE will continue to be my daily driver because of its feature set and deployability, knowing whole heartedly that it is not the best out there. But yea, sometimes I just have to ask myself "Does the audience really know or care?" Sorry for the long reply, but hopefully this makes sense why I say its a RODE Go alternative. Thanks again for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next one!

@@TLDR_filmmaker No problems with long replies. Always good! Indeed, Content is King on youtube... but I still like a video that sounds and looks good if possible. With regards to peoples appreciation of quality difference... yes it has now become quite common to use the phrase " Nobody cares ". Having worked in the field of film and television now for 12 years... all I can say to myself and my clients is... I care. Perhaps the audience no longer appreciates the art, the time and the preparation to make something better than average... and that makes myself and many of the older pros a bit sad.. but regardless.. I will stick to my guns on this one. Having purchased enough below average gear for cheaper than market standard only to have to buy something better later on... I say, save a little more and buy better first. Look at reviews, listen to the feedback and make the smartest choice based on a mix of money and quality. I would say that this mic is not going to last long enough for a person starting out, because when you start , you progress very fast and before you know it I think you will need something better and more costly anyway. Maybe I am just too old school. At the end of the day if people like, listen, subscribe I guess thats all that matters on this platform but.... i certainly could not listen to content recorded on these mics. But yes... it is better than the top mic of most cameras, so if thats the benchmark of baseline then buy this mic! Or link your $15 wired one! Why do I shoot on an expensive camera, with an expensive microphone, with a fluid head tripod and film with a 10 bit 422 codec.... because somewhere out there is a person that will appreciate it as much as I do... fingers crossed. I respect that for a youtube creator the quility of filming / content quality ratio is not the same as a person delivering work to the client. So your points are very valid in that regard to getting cheaper upgrades that make a big quality difference. However, you got lucky with that $15 dollar mic.. it was probably pretty good for the price and you no doubt had good content to go with it. Plus its really hard to screw up a wired mic that sits near the sound source. These wireless mic kits should be used for people who are not in a " Studio Setting ".. so yeah you will have to pay more for wireless. If you are going to pay a premium anyway you might as well pay enough money to get a better sounding option. For me personally the Saramonic produces too much noise. If you could prove that it could be tuned or removed then it becomes a contender i guess. Im just a fussy industry dinosaur. Maybe i need to ditch the Senheiser G3 kit and get with the program. ;)
