Hello! Unfortunately, my recordings with my iphone 8 and the Blink 500 pro pick up a bunch of static. Is it possible that my lightning port is damaged and causing that hissing sound in my audio recordings?

Hi -thank you for your review! I using the Saramonic Blink500 Pro B2 --with a Canon VIXIA HF G40. When I recorded using the Blink 500 Pro-there was a slight hiss under the recorded audio. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this? The "Audio Mix" feature on my camera was set to off. I'd appreciate your assistance. Thank you again for your review!

The Saramonic Blink 500 Pro B2's receiver offers a line level output. The Canon HG40 has a stereo microphone input. So there is an impedance mismatch. Have you tried lowering the input signal of the camcorder manually? You may also toggle in the microphone attenuator setting (12 dB). See the Canon HFG40 manual at pages 81 through 84: www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/268138.pdf >Mark

It seems like a very hand product set - although if I were to base the audio quality on the review audio, it does sound very treble heavy, tinny and and highly compressed, compared to a traditional PRO grade Sony/Rode etc. Not sure I'd put it in the 'PRO' category, but seems flexible enough for pro-sumer. On a side note, can one charge and use the product at the same time. I.e. if you get a low battery warning mid-shoot, can you plug in a powerbank etc. and run it indefinitely?

With built-in OLED displays, better mics, and extended range, this is a great wireless mic system for KZread videos, live streaming or a variety of other recording applications. The whole package is designed to give you mission-critical performance in the field. For instance, Saramonic knows you need accessible, dependable controls on location to get the levels right and troubleshoot any issues on the spot. That’s why the company has built the Blink 500 Pro with a high-contrast, 128 x 64 pixel OLED display. You’ll never be in the dark when it comes to controlling the signal from the device. Saramonic also knows you demand long battery life from your gear, which is why it upped the run time from 5 hours to 8 hours on a single charge. And, the company knows you need options in the microphone department. Whether you choose the single-transmitter or dual-transmitter system, you’ll love the included carrying case. It’s durable and sleek, and it lets you get all the devices talking to each other quickly with one-touch pairing. Plus, in the case, the receiver and transmitter devices charge in 3 hours and show real-time charging status. Other goodies are also included, such as lavalier clips, foam windscreens, and furries for the transmitter to help with wind noise. You also get a zipper bag for transportation, charging cables for multiple USB types, and dedicated 3.5mm cables for cameras (TRS) and compatible smartphones (TRS to TRRS). >Mark

Or if you have two pro b1 kit. Can you pair the transmitter from one kit to the other, so you have two transmitters connected to one receiver? I ask, because you mentioned that the only way to pair was to use the bag. And the bag which comes with pro b1 kit only holds one transmitter A yoga center will probably buy this pro b2 kit, to make live sessions with one or two teachers in the same room. 3:58 The microphone’s sensitivity has nothing to do with its sound character. A very sensitive microphone with bad frequency response and transient fidelity can be plenty loud - with a garbage sound. Sensitivity is simply how much SPL is needed to move the membrane to reach a certain voltage, i.e. volume.

why Type C on a case and micro USB on a unit?? Dumb move.

  • @SaramonicUSA

That is actually because of the limitation of size. To include a USB-C port would have made the transmitter larger, which we wanted to avoid while still giving users the ability to charge each component separately.

@@SaramonicUSA will the Blink 500 Pro Transmitters pair with the Blink 500 RXDi Dual-Receiver with MFi Certified Apple Lightning Connector? And also how much phone battery does that Receiver actually drain? (And you did have usb-c on the old transmitters, but you did cram a lot of new goodies into this one!!! ❤️) and can I use a lav mic with a TRRS into the Blink 500 Pro transmitter? Or only accepts TRS ends? And last question when will it ship - site says it’s only preorders just like BnH :(

How’d they manage to use a micro usb to usb c cable and not make the whole system the far superior usb c lol

Fee con's on this 1. Charging - the whole world is now switching to usb c 2. Pairing - the device itself hat to be able to pair without a case. 3. Output level - whether in menu or buttons but the device has to. The device seems to be good in sound but these are the main factors to consider as well.

The Blink 500 units we received are absolute garbage - We owned the previous non LCD versions and had no problems - these units haver been back to the shop 3 times in 6 months. Receiver broke, one mic broke, charging unit broke, then intermittent cut offs from repaired units. Customer service does not exist - warranty not worth the paper it's written on!

Bought this just two years ago-- second transmitter won't turn on. Totally dead. Sits in charger (red light on) but does not show battery indictor on the screen. Absolute trash product. And severely overpriced.

Beware! They only last 2 years. The back-lights stop working then and you can't see any info. I contacted Saramonic directly and asked if I could purchase spares so I could replace them myself and they said they don't sell them. So I basically have mics that I can't use anymore! Shocking customer service. They offered me 10% off a new set but why would I buy more when they don't last. I only used them about 40 times in total as well! I wish I'd known, I would have bought the Rodes instead.
