Saramonic Blink 500 B1 Review (and why I didn't buy the Rode Wireless Go)

Saramonic Blink 500 amzn.to/2Yl5T03
"Should I buy the Saramonic Blink 500 B1 or the Rode Wireless Go?" I went with the Blink 500. Watch to find out why! Check out my links and timestamps below. I tested the Saramonic out in a soccer field, inside my house and walking around my house. I also did tests with it in my office alongside other mics I had available for comparison. I'll just say I am very impressed with this and happy I made the purchase.

Borsellino Carpentry is a construction company located in Upstate New York. I specialize in small residential remodeling jobs. This channel is dedicated to teaching other contractors, carpenters, small business owners, DIYers, weekend warriors and anyone else who just wants to learn a little bit about home improvement. The full name of the company is actually Borsellino Carpentry & Home Repair, LLC but that is just too much of a mouthful! I also do tool reviews, business tips and other contractor related videos on this channel. In the wintertime I even do snow plowing videos. I try to mix it up and show all the parts of the contracting job, not just the glorious finished product. thanks :) I am torn between this set-up and the Comica Boom so doing my homework every way I can..Rode were not smart by making their package stop at 1 transmitter, that for me is the main selling point..I plan to have a hockey channel soon and of course there will be guests/friends from time to time

    The Saramonic does have a set with 2 transmitters!! I broke my receiver so I bought another B! set and added my transmitter to it, essentially making it a B2. Rode doesn't come with lav mics so you have to buy them separate which makes it much more expensive. I'm not sure if the audio quality or ease of use is better. The saramonic has worked well for me for a long time. I'm not familiar with the Comica though... The only thing that I wish they could do is record 2 separate audio tracks, one for each transmitter. If you're doing an interview and one person talks louder or the volume is higher on one transmitter it could potentially ruin the entire clip! Just something to be aware of...

    @@BorsellinoHomeServices Thank you very much for your reply. I bought Saramonic Blink 500 B5 and Osmo Mobile 3. But the dji mimo app doesnt supports Saramonic wireless microphone with my Oneplus 7 Pro. I have to use open camera app to use the saramonic with OM3 gimbal. If I want to use the mimo app to use all its functions then I cannot use the saramonic wirelless mic. Is there any workout or solution? Tried contacting all supports, no reply. Much appreciate your help and reply. Thanks Joy.

    Great real life review I intend to get saramonic blink 500 b5 for my iPhone but is it dual channels too or mono channel?

  • @BorsellinoHomeServices

    @BorsellinoHomeServices

    4 жыл бұрын

    Just to be clear, my understanding of their term "dual channel" only means you can use 2 transmitters into 1 receiver. They are not split into 2 separate audio tracks in the recording from what I've heard. But you are supposed to be able to pair 2 transmitters to any receiver, if you only had one to start and then wanted to upgrade to a second transmitter. Not sure if that is what you are asking about...?

  • @ayatahmed110

    @ayatahmed110

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@BorsellinoHomeServices Yes i was asking about splitting audio into two channels. What i care about regarding the recorded audio most, is to be heared in both right and left parts of any headphones. I mean, to be recorded in a stereo format not mono. I don't know if dual audio channels = stereo sound too or not. I'm a fresh beginner in audio recording.. 😅 Is the sound of the record heared as stereoscopic in headphones with your saramonic blink?

  • @BorsellinoHomeServices

    @BorsellinoHomeServices

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@ayatahmed110 oh gotcha. that's way over my head... I'm a wicked beginner! I mean I hear the sound in both sides of the headphones but there's only one mic so it doesn't sound any different on either side... If you're talking about recording two people and having each person only come out of one side then I think you need a system that will record audio into two separate tracks. Maybe a dedicated audio recorder, I'm not sure if phones or dslrs are capable of that??

    Now that you've used it for a few months, how great/bad is the Blink 500 at picking other sounds in the background, such as music playing on a small stereo, other people talking around you or generic background noise like traffic & other sounds?

  • @BorsellinoHomeServices

    @BorsellinoHomeServices

    3 жыл бұрын

    Great Question!!! The one thing I notice the most is actually my breathing! But I've learned to turn the volume down on the Blink 500 and then turn up the master volume in post production. That seems to have solved it. I have Asthma and it picks up my wheezing a lot. But it is much better now with the volume on 2 instead of 6... although there aren't numbers you have to do it by clicks... it's very scientific 😂... But to answer your specific question, any loud background noise will get picked up in any mic. This doesn't pick up as much as my shotgun mic or the built in mic on the camera though. Because it is so close to my mouth I can turn down the volume much more than a mic that is placed a few feet away on camera. Hope that answers your question!

    I don't know because it's never died on me! much longer than I would ever use it for.
