It was interesting that Turkish people abondoned old ottoman style fashion but Bosnians kept keeping it alive in Europe.

Njegovu bajkovitost, mešavinu kultura, vera i običaja.

Somebody asked the question - why are Germans here? The short answer would be: Well if you know anything about 2. world war, you should know that Nacis planned to conquer the world. So in doing that they invade kingdom of Yugoslavia and also all the way to Greece. During the war yugoslav partisans have give resistance to occupation and after the war they reunited former countries in Yugoslavia again, but this time is not kingdom but communist state. After war in Yugoslavia 1991. the all federal republics are independent first time in many centuries. Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia. Todays political situation in Bosnia are very complicated.

Don't forget that this was the start for the holocaust in Sarajevo. Terrible losses for the Jewish population. Strange that the soldier filmed two synagogues. Maybe he did not know these are synagogues. Luckly these buildings survived both 20th century wars.

I love these videos!!! I thank you for preserving them and sharing them. Even though I know this was a horrible time in history, I still suffer from the most common history lovers affliction, I would love to go back in time and witness(safely) what it was like back then. The German soldiers appear to be on good behavior...though their bosses can't be accused of the same. I have never been to Sarajevo... but at approx 4:10 doesn't it look like that is the same or nearly the same spot where the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated in 1914? Anyone have any knowledge on this to share? Long live the flame of peace...may it one day finally burn brightly for the whole world to share. Danke.

At the very beginning of the movie, the inscription 'SARAJEVO' has to its left the same letters written in Cyrillic, but painted over. This is because the Ustashi state looked to remove anything remotely Serbian from the society. This same scenario is still existing in today's Croatia, in the city of Vukovar. Remember, Croatia has been a EU member since 2013.
