Lyrics:
It's everything I am and what I'm not and all I'm trying to be
This is the part where I spit it all out and you decide what you think of me
I'm not trying to be complicated I'm never waiting to get the last laugh
But I've been handing out benefits of the doubt and I'd like a little bit back
It's just a little voice and if you're listening
Sometimes a little voice can say the biggest things
It's just my little voice I've been missing
Looking over the precious moments, it hurts don't it…they can cut both ways
No amount of remembering the better things will make the bad ones go away
But I've been broken and the one to blame
So my savior of self-defense taught me to sing what I can't say
It's just a little voice and if you're listening
Sometimes a little voice can say the biggest things
It's just my little voice that I've been missing
It's just my little voice that I've been missing

Sara has that ability to express the emotion of a song in her voice. The bridge- when the little voice gets heard.

This is one of my favorite songs. Everytime I listen to it I get goosebumps. Sometimes everyone elses voice can drown out our own and we just let them. It's important for us to listen to our voice.

this song is ridiculously underrated. Sara is ridiculously underrated. I listened to this song in the show and it made me feel things, but it wasnt until right now when I needed it the absolute most that this song has truly touched my heart. I just wept harder and more real than i have before. this song allowed me to feel my deepest feelings and for that i feel free. and for that. thank you. thank you Sara for using your voice in a way that so many people can truly relate to.

We are blessed with the good fortune of listening to an angel sing. Such a pure voice, pitch perfect and the depth of her range is mind blowing. My wife and I are 61 yrs old and we had a chance to see Sara sing here in San Diego right before the virus hit everyone. She was unforgettable. There are very few voices like hers ,myself and my wife are infatuated with her every singing venture. I say she has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. AND her sense of humor makes her irresistible to watch and listen. I pay my greatest respect to such an angel of song and music...... Love you Sara from Ron and Ruby, two of your biggest fans

I just left a very meaningful relationship that hurt me so much, very I cared about this person so much. But sometimes I have to deal that I allowed myself to be hurt and that’s why I feel pretty sad currently because I allowed so many things. I know that little voice protects you from the start and I’m starting to listen again finally.

I listen to this song to help cope with how my mom treats me. Is makes me have a little bravery to face her and show everyone how she hurt me. It's also a reminder on how I was so numb when I lived with her. She called me selfish and when I got out everytime I heard that word I had to hid my tears and try and to get through the memories. My sister who went through the same thing is siding with her is tearing me down from the inside out. That's me and I'm trying to accept it as me.

Okay so, I didn't think I could cry anymore. I thought I was over crying. No tears left. But sometimes... I do get a bit teary-eyed. And this time I'm sitting here with my eyes wet and something in my throat and everytime I re-read "Sometimes a little voice can say the biggest things" I must fight the urge to bawl my eyes out... Okay now I'm crying for real. Tears and sobs and blowing my nose, the whole 9 yards. Jesus. I don't know for how long I've fought this. They don't get it, they see my hands over my eyes and think I'm sleepy and should take a nap. I can't even begin to explain. I can't risk to show them, to let them hear me. I don't know why. But I must say, goddamn it Ms Bareilles... your songs are particularly good at making me awfully emotional. Gravity... Rain... And now this. Thanks, I guess. I suppose I needed it. And if my reactions are anything to judge by then it's pretty obvious you're doing *at least something right* , goddamn it. I don't understand how she can have this effect on me when practically nothing else does. I've always loved her songs, she's one of my favorite singers-songwriters ever, that's for sure. Maybe it's the honesty, the rawness, the vulnerability. Maybe it's those fucking lyrics she chooses and arranges so perfectly together. Her voice. I've also always had a thing for pianos I guess... I dunno. She's just so good... but it's more than that, I just can't describe it. Ah damn it. Okay, I'm fine. To one of the finest voices in... all of music ever. Cheers. And thanks, Sara.

I hope you appreciate this comparison: In almost every way you are the spiritual successor to Dan Fogelberg (only absurdly more prolific!) with the same kind of timeless, addictive melodies wrapped around poignant and relatable lyrics. I watched one of her old interview before and she said that people are not taking serious about what is the true music in the industry.
