I read this book last year and I too was very impressed by the initial parts. I too noticed the Marxist view and wokery in the middle but the latter parts hooked me again. This talk definitely made me rethink the entire premise of the book. .

The book, as per my understanding of the video: 1. Focused on Monotheism and not on Pagan nay Civilizational Religions. 2. No understanding of uniqueness of cultures like the idea of Gotra System of Indian Civilization. 3. Beliefs that Prophets unite humans rather than Culture. 4. Talks about the injustice on the basis of wealth, gendre, etc. since time immemorial with such supporting points which shows he has a communist bend. 5. Sees castism in Hinduism and beliefs that it was there since time immemorial but dares not to criticise Islam rather talks of Unification of Humankind through Islam. 7. Doesn't believe in Cultural Diversity. 8. Beliefs that Agricultural Revolution is bad as it started Population Explosion. 9. Envisions a Global Empire in place of multicultural civilizations.

Quite inspired by the analysis of Dr. Rajiv ji , it appears to me that left ideologies resonate well with the youth. I too was impressed by concepts against inequalities and injustices, till one matures and felt something amiss. Not till hearing Dr. Rajiv did I realise that in actuality it is all about control and a mission to frame the world in their own colour. Alas , the clarity has come to me now at the age of 70. All the more reason , as very cogently suggested by him elsewhere, that we need to draw out areas by or within which to demolish the leftism, so as to make the youth see through their game. Perhaps Dr Rajiv may live upto this task as well .

Very enlightening Podcast. I tried to read the book but couldn't due its stupid claims. Rajiv ji prefectly summmarised alll the isssues with the book

Read Book"The Dawn of Everything".It debunks what is claimed in Sapiens

One should read it first to understand and comments. We should also keep the mythology separate from the history.

The beer bicep guy is such a huge fan of this book, on a podcast with abhijit chavda he displayed the book on the very front and praised it a lot, as if it was an advertisement. I've noticed many such things about him. He seems suspicious.

I read this book a few years back and had almost the same observation ..this book is good for understanding the prehistory but once he starts writing about empires, his bias is very evident..

When I read this book many years back, my impression about his understanding of Sanatan philosophy was that it is very superficial. He takes the Vedic description of creation of varn from Purush in literal sense to convey that these were intellectually primitive culture. That made me wonder about his understanding of other cultures as well. As a side note, I had attended his lecture when he was in India where he said he regularly attends Vipassana workshops in Igatpuri. That explains why he may have a little better understanding of Budhdhism.

When I read the book, I felt this too but I thought I was just over thinking. My self doubt shadowed my conviction.

Two of my best and favorite speakers

google "Aamir Khan Sapiens" and one can easily find pictures of him holding this book, on more than one occasion. He is almost promoting this book, asking people to read without uttering a word.

By the way, if you listen to some ppl who are challenging the established view of human history set by biologists, historians and archaeologists AND consider the proofs that they cite, then you get quite easily convinced that the established timeline of human history, that this Harrari also states, has to be wrong. There definitely were advanced civilizations even during the times when the traditional narrative tells us that all our ancestors were hunter gatherers only.

Any discussion on Dharma thru Western lenses will revolve around - cow - caste and - curry Western scholars purposefully ignore everything else

Sapiens is grounded on arbitrary assumptions, facts without empirical evidence, faulty notion of agriculture and nomadic hunting life. What a hoot this session was. As an ex-communist, I'm enjoying the joyride that's now taking the pants off of these strange 'liberal' birdbrains. And imagine how people worship such half-baked thought processes. In fact, there are dozens of instances where the things said in this book are so random, that I've marked those lines and written the comment, "Kuch bhi?" I revisit those sections only for a hearty giggle on a slow day! 😀

21:30 i have heard few of this author's interviews on KZread and seriously found him lacking in deep content of the topic he talks on. I did not find hariri so profound a thinker as he is getting promoted in the media. No wonder, this might show up even in his writing

Hindus need to do Ghar Wapsi. Hindu culture and tradition are in direct conflict with Hindu Dharma and our destiny will be decided by our choice. The Hindutva movement is for Hindu culture and tradition and therefore indirectly against Hindu Dharma. Today West has owned Climatism and Veganism whereas Hindus are biggest exporters of meat and biggest consumers of dairy, which is biggest cause of greenhouse gas as well as cattle-meat. Our towns and villages look like filthy slums. Our air is polluted. Our rivers are polluted. Our greentop is shrinking and we cannot expect West to respect us and our ways. You need to live by your Upanishads. You need to ignore what others said about Krishna and start reading what Krishna said to us. We need to hide Bhagavad Puraan and find Bhagavad Geeta. Right now your religion looks messed up and confused. Remember - Ätma is singular and ways to find that can be many. That Ätma or Brahman is nirgun - beyond senses and mind (words, thoughts, imagination) and therefore it cannot be worshipped. So we need saguna forms as a spiritual tool - and rely on devatas and avatars and gurus who are accessible and useful. Shri Ram and Shri Krishna are avatar who transcended their human imperfections to attain a state of yoga with THAT. Shiva represents THAT and his linga represents elevated consciousness which is not attached or corrupted by everything that's around him. Same is symbolised by Lotus, and that's why Lotus is so integral to Dharma. Shankar, Ganesh, Vishnu etc are mythical gods and their stories are for commoners and children who are at very primitive level of spiritual development. Even the stories of Krishna about cows and cowgirls are useless unless they draw you towards the real thing - what Krishna said in the Bhagavad Geeta. Hindus need to get their basics sorted. Otherwise don't expect respect from others. There is too much mess and confusion. There are too many versions and opinions. There are too many scriptures and too many gods. Even Ramayan and Mahäbharat is considered religious texts whereas they are not. Ram of Valmiki Ramayan is a hero not god and Hanuman is not a monkey. Puranas are not as central to our religion as Upanishads. If we want to survive, we need to realize and communicate that our central texts are Upanishads. Other texts are NOT scriptures but they only explain them in simpler ways. You cannot remain messed up anymore. Choice is yours, as Krishna says in Bhagavad Geeta, Karmanyevadhikaraste.
