I’ve never played an instrument, so forgive my ignorance. But isn’t this the same for every instrument? Guitar, violin. Perhaps not pianos, but even then.

@@vgman94 yeah but if a guitarist or bassist fucks up, it doesn’t throw the rest of the band off. all of us other instrumentalists and vocalists rely on the drums to set the tone the whole way through

@@mattbrendlen He didn't replace anyone though. Alex Rodriguez has always been the drummer of saosin, and the only time he wasn't was when they had a session drummer of Translating the Name... who performed the drumming Saosin gave him.

You come out with "Alex Rodriguez has always been the drummer" and immediately follow that up by contradicting yourself: "The only time he wasn't was when they had a session drummer.." Well then... he literally hasn't always been the drummer, has he? Ringo wasn't always the drummer for the Beatles, doesn't matter if he was there from their first album on. Dude... most people became fans of Saosin because of that EP, which had two main things going for it: 1) Anthony Green's stellar vocals 2) Pat McGrath's INSANE drumming. Neither of which ended up on their LP's... and frankly, I was too old to even give a shit when Anthony Green returned. Nothing they've made since TtN has even come close (ha ha)...

I'll upvote anything Saosin related.. good playing

It's not the part Alex plays that's great it's what he WRITES for the song. There's a big difference between playing drum parts and writing them. Most good drummers can listen to a drum part and play it. Can you write it from scratch?

Im not a drummer but ive always liked the sound of saosin's hi-hat&snare..ive once asked our drummer "hey teach me that"(7 years)..he said something like "you wont get it at first" "learn the basics atleast"... Now i understand what he is talking about..
