Sanuces Ryu 2_Moses Powell_R.I.P.

Спорт

Dr. Moses Powell shows us his SHIATSU TECHNIQUES...
Videotaped at his old school, When Worlds Collide, on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn NY. Grandmaster Powell will be remembered by all who had the honor of meeting him.
I love his sense of humor when he's doing pressure point grabs, especially at 0:13. "Hallelujah! The spirit has grabbed him!"
He was born on January 13, 1941 in Norfolk, Virginia to Athenia and Moses Powell. A 10th degree black belt, has studied martial arts for over 45 years. He is a member of the Black Belt Hall of Fame and the World Karate Hall of fame. He was the first Black man to instruct the Secret Service and the F.B. I. The Benin Empire of West Africa awarded him the International Benin Award in 1972 for his community work and efforts throughout the world. He died on: 1/22/05. The lighter side of him is missed the most. Evoking humor while training soldiers and demonstrating submission chokes.
Ukes [disciples] honored to be touched by him.
He said: "If I touch you, you can forget it, I have you."

i just love how people always got something negative to say about martial arts and until they've been put in a technique they will never understand how painful it is! that is not exaggerated pain trust me.

Juijitsu, Aikido, Judo and other forms of self defense arts are performed in this manner so that the practitioner understands the basics such as movements, weak/pressure points, strikes, sweeps throws and other elements. Practicing against an Uke gives the Tori (practitioner) the opportunity to understand the basics of how these techniques will work against an actual opponent. This is also why these techniques are practiced slowly and against different Ukes of different heights and body weight. It's just like learning the Alphabet... You need to learn letters in order to form words. So those who think that techniques such as this wont work, keep something in mind.. Once the basics are learnt... Then a true Practitioner will be able to adapt his/her technique to any given situation or environment. Excellent demonstration.. I have never been exposed to Sanuces-Ryu Juijitsu however from my research, Dr Moses Powell was a great teacher. Much respect.

Listen, to everyone who says this is fake, or they are faking the pain, or its exaggerated or wouldn't work in real life, let me tell you that you are wrong. I have the privilege of training in Sanuces Ryu, and not only that, but i train under one of Dr. Powell's top students. A 7th degree black belt. This stuff does work in the real world, their faces and movements while in pain are real, this shit HURTS when it is used CORRECTLY on you. Tap or snap. That was Dr. Powell's rule. You either tap, or bones get broken. I've broken a couple wrists and dislocated a couple shoulders because people wouldn't tap. It works, trust me. Ive been training in Sanuces Ryu for about 10 years. Never once have i been taught something that wouldn't work in the real world.

If you look at this video and say this wouldn't work, you are missing the point. The point of the exercise is to show you how the body works and what are the limitations. Everything isn't about sparring. Yes it's important to know how to box or do any other type of striking but knowing when and how to get leverage to throw someone over your hip or sweep them makes you a more complete martial artists. Go enlist in the military. You'd be surprised how much they drill techniques just like this.

This art has to be taught in this manner. Slow Techniques are learned without the chance of being injured. If done at full speed bones will break and joints dislocated. A chance of death is possible with some of these techniques. It doesn't take much effort to break an arm or neck.

Keyonia Jones You're wasting your time, do BJJ or Judo along with a striking martial art like Muay Thai or Taekwondo. The only reason these bullshit techniques seem to work is because your fellow students aren't resisting or countering you. Why do you think there are no Saunces Ryu Jitsu guys in any MMA fighting organization? Cause this bullshit doesn't work lol Go to an open mat at any BJJ, Judo, or Muay Thai gym and face reality when you get taken down, and realize people don't leave their arms extended for you to do these bullshit wrist locks

One of the main reasons why many people think martial arts don't work is because of the martial art practitioner. Every martial artist is not equal in ability even if you obtained a black belt. There are many reasons why a black belt level may get knocked out with ease in a street fight. A street fighter knows there are no rules and a good martial artist should know there are no rules as well. Little example, if you're fighting someone in the street and you see an opportunity to bite that person nose of his face, break a finger, make that person blind, that's martial arts; being able to adapt. No need to be fancy - just get the job done, go home to family. A black belt/or sash is not the end of your training it is the beginning to understanding your system better. A real martial artist trains for life. I'll stop learning when I die.

If anyone really trains and spars against a resisting partner . They would see that this clearly would not work in anything except in a movie and in the dojo where all this guys followers are under his spell. If this stuff really worked you would see in it in mma . You don't see it because it doesn't work. If anyone does this type of stuff if you are ever in michigan let me know . So you can come spar at the gym i train at.
