    I live in Santa Monica, and regularly ride all of these trails. This is very well organized and should help people. Now do one for Malibu, including Big Rock, Puerco Canyon, Zuma Ridge and Bulldog!

    You do have to pick and choose on the weekends. I'm careful which paths I descend.

    Great video! I live near the west end of dirt Mulholland, having moved from near the east end, and have ridden these routes many times. Gravel bikes are the best way to take advantage of these routes as you have so many combinations and possibilities of linking them together with sections of paved riding. There are some great gravel rides to the west of the west end of dirt Mulholland too, as I am sure you know... :)

    Awesome videos. Curious, 1. Are Trikes/Quads allowed on some of the Fire Roads up there, Parker Mesa, Los Liones, by The Hub? 2. Say a person has a disability, and only has a Class 2 Trike or Quad. Are those (Class 2 Trikes/Quads) allowed on the Fire Roads up there in the Santa Monica Mountains?

    The ride up Backbone from Will Rogers is actually not that bad right now. There is that one section by the bridge where the sign says to hike your bike, but other than that it's a great singletrack climb, and not overgrown when I did it right before the last rainfall.

    Hi everyone, is it possible to do one ride (without getting in the car and drive to the next trail) by riding up and down all trails or are some trails single direction only? Thanks!

    Thank you for this video, useful to share to those new to the area. Do you think you can do a trail guide to Kenneth Hanh park & the neighboring overlook connector trail please? That & Betty Dearing/Franklyn Canyon trails(which trailforks say there are more legal trails to ride now).

    Originally, I was going to do everything between the 101 and Topanga Canyon, but the options are very different depending which side you're on the Sepulveda Pass. I did shoot some video for it, so probably in the next couple of months...

    So do you basically back track after a while? Or do you find means to loop back? Can you recommend a trail in So Cal for a gravel beginners?

  • @GravelBikeCalifornia

    @GravelBikeCalifornia

    2 ай бұрын

    I think most of the time people dip into the westside to make their way back. The Sullivan Ridge / Westridge loop is popular. I'll be releasing a video this week for beginning rides, but I'd suggest Sycamore Canyon in Pt Mugu SP.

    Really nice video Zach. What GIS are you using for the 3D maps? Is that google earth and you draw the lines manually?

  • @GravelBikeCalifornia

    @GravelBikeCalifornia

    3 жыл бұрын

    It is google earth, but you can only import one continuous line (as far as I know). I manually had to add Viewridge and the Lower Canyonback area which was a pain...

    @GBCali, I see your buddy there already has a mask on even though this was shot previous to the pandemic? Can he see into the future? Just cautious? Or is it a dust/smog prevention?

  • @GravelBikeCalifornia

    I think most of the masked parts were shot in November whereas the others are mostly from 2019. It's strange watching that now.

    San Fernando Valley is the best place in the world for mountain biking. Sure, there's sone better trails in other places, but there isn't as many great trails, and the trails in others states aren't open year round, like they are here.
