Sanna Marin: EU must end dependency on Russian oil

Friday is the second day of the EU summit in Versailles, focusing on efforts to make the EU more self-sufficient in terms of strategic and energy policies. The informal two-day summit of EU leaders continued at the Palace of Versailles just outside Paris on Friday.
#Versailles #France #Marin #Russia #Ukraine #Energy #Finland
Speaking to the media before the meeting, Prime Minister Sanna Marin (SDP) said that Finland had reservations about certain proposed measures, such as price regulation, to respond to the European energy crisis.
"Finland has emphasised measures that help the member states themselves to make these investments, this transition. We are much more cautious about combined efforts when it comes to energy," Marin said.
Finland's PM added that the EU must end its dependence on Russian oil as soon as possible.
"It is a very difficult situation that we have these very tough economic sanctions on the one hand, and on the other hand we are financing the Russian war by buying oil, natural gas and other fossil fuels from Russia," she told reporters.
The main topic at the summit on Friday will be Russia's attack on Ukraine. Specifically, leaders are expected to discuss how the EU can respond to the costs of the war. The EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, announced that the EU Commission plans to provide further support to the Ukrainian army with additional spending of 500 million euros.
An increase in defence spending, coupled with reducing dependence on Russian energy, would be a costly proposition for the EU. The transition to a green economy and finding new energy suppliers have also been among the topics discussed in Versailles.
Marin: Statement on Ukraine's relationship with EU balanced
On the first day of the meeting, EU leaders discussed Ukraine's application for EU membership.
The result was a statement that the EU was strengthening its partnership with Ukraine, but held back on accelerating Ukraine's membership bid.
Marin said the EU's position reflected a balanced approach to Ukraine's EU hopes.
"It sends a message of hope to Ukraine that they have a future as part of Europe, working more closely with the rest of us. However, at the same time, there also needs to be a realism about Ukraine's path to EU membership," she said.
The European Union's economic and strategic autonomy will be top of the agenda at an informal two-day meeting of its leaders, starting on Thursday in Versailles, France. Discussions at the casual summit, hosted by President Emmanuel Macron, are expected to build on unity developed around the Ukraine crisis, the bloc's dependence on imported energy and its reliance on the NATO military alliance.
In a published invitation letter to members of the European Council ahead of the meeting, its chief Charles #Michel said: "In the light of recent events, it is more urgent than ever that we take decisive steps toward building our sovereignty, reducing our dependencies and designing a new growth and investment model."

Unless you are a psychopath, it is impossible for you to look beautiful and be a bad person by heart. Most politicians don't look beautiful or some of them once looked beautiful and become not-beautiful after sometimes. The reason for this is they have given in to the average ugliness of the political environment like corruption and have lost the big greater plan for the good of everyone.

Every prominent politician in EU is given brilliant rhetorical speeches on this issue, yet have not given any real answers or actually done anything about it for months, if not years. If they're not going to depend on Russia they will be depending on someone else. At the moment p Russian people are paying 76 roubles per litre of fuel, which is near equivalent $1 20 us. Oil from Russia is only a small amount compared to what the Middle East exports. Russia has already taken up countermeasures by trading with China and India. It will have very little effect on them but massive effects Finland, Sweden and EU countries, where they can expect to pay much hire prices for their fuel than Russia.

The situation right now is hurting EU, and that will likely continue through the next year too. But in the medium term and long term, Putin's Russia just gave up its biggest customer for gas and oil. The pipeline to China is only one tenth of that capacity, and China holds all the cards in the price negotiations. (Where else is Russia going to purchase electronics, North Korea?) Talk about self destructive decisions in Kremlin. Finland for one is going to weather this new storm just fine. Just another crisis for Marin's government to handle, they are getting used to it...

It's a woman on top, what do you expect? They just repeat what NATO said, Selenskij said or the American president said. The same with prime minister of Sweden or Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany or Canada. Feminist foreign policy today means arms deliveries and sanctions, alongside submission to patriarchal institutions such as NATO. The confirmation of the 'penis envy' (Freud).

Prime minister Marin says it very well that stopping all imports of Russian fossil fuels is a necessary and positive step. It will be a sacrifice for Europeans, but I salute their willingness to condemn a war criminal such as Putin for killing thousands of innocent Ukrainians every month. Kudos to the European Union for recently making that decision!

Klaus Schwab's lil bish at work. So glad WEF plans are being isolated to impact only the West. Thank you Russia. The Globalist NWO was planned for everyone and every country. But because of President Putin we the Russians, Indians, Chinese and Arabs are saved. West can live under their satanic one world order lead by demonic fr3@ks like Sanna Marin, Trudeau, Macron etc who are from the WEF's young global leader program. Remember who kicked out the Elites banking system from their country in early 19th century and what followed as a result. Now history is repeating but this time the defence has the highest stockpile of nuclear arsenal and can't wait for one to blow up in Sanna Marin's you know what

But Ukraine can, if it wants. And it does. So that's that. EU membership has been very beneficial to Finland. So will NATO membership be. And none of that is harmful to Russia. Only Putin's band of crooks destroying the country is harmful to Russia.
