@@jelly4074 well.. He doesn't give a damn about what people say but San Lang LITERALLY worship Xie Lian and thinks he's too unworthy to touch his highness. He has low self-esteem when it comes to Xie Lian. You would have noticed how he thinks of himself as an ugly beast (when he's such a daddy-). Even though Hua Cheng was always on his side, as a little ghost fire, as Wu Ming and now as San Lang, He had his guilts as he couldn't protect Xia Lian back then.

@@angelicemman5821 Hmm.. why else would he think himself as ugly beast if he didn’t give a f about what others say. “Ugly” was what everyone called him all the time. We always say “i don’t care” putting up tough act but it actually bothers us; it hurts when others bully & degrade us. If everyone called him handsome, I don’t think he will ever think of himself as “ugly beast”. Thinking Xie Lian is too good for him may be possible but calling himself “ugly beast” must be planted in his heart by being bullied by others.

@@jelly4074 yeah. You're right. Of course he was an innocent, powerless child begger and everyone called him ugly because of his shabby appearance back then and he grew up believing it. Even tho he don't give fs about anyone now.. He still believes he's ugly.

Exactly, every time I both read Chinese subtitle and English one, I feel a bit of pity for those who do not have Chinese culture backround, although the translator try her best to make the meaning clear and suitable for foreigher to understand, there are still some Subtle meaning that can not be explained in short words.

This one.", I thought to myself, hey, it really is that one isn't it? That specific eye. Like, no metaphor to say something like "his right eye is blind because I'm pointing to my right eye," and that's probably how Lianlian took it, but he could mean "hey, this is the blind one. right here, no joke," in a self-referential way.
