Even when I read the webcomic I couldn’t really see his emotions when he said that. I think at the time I thought “he’s showing concern” but didn’t think much of it

@@ryuusmith2093 it does but it also has a romantic/sexual connotation in instances like this, like when Wei Ying calls Lan Zhan, Lan-ErGeGe.

The painting here is much more “ancient” style. The one in manhua made me tear up. Xie Lian hesitation to even imagine himself that high up again was heartbreaking.

Petition for the mass release of that painting, exactly the same. I would worship it every day. I don't know why but I felt that this clip was painful to watch, was it only me? Reading this scene in novel and manhua as well wasn't like that.

Yeahhh I think I felt his emotions more in the donghua than novel and manhua... not to say that those aren't works of art, they are and great in their own ways but _the way_ they show his expressions and little mannerisms here that give away how he's feeling inside ... just.. I... this hurt me and made me feel that love was beautiful at the same time

@@oie1018 cursed shackles are the sign of being banished from Heavens. Xie Lian was banished twice, hence he has one cursed shackle on his neck and one on his ankle (which also takes away all his luck). The shackle on his neck on the other side takes away all his mana (spiritual power). that's why he has to ask for it from others

It's not suspicious at that I can accurately draw man that lived 800 years ago. Totally normal

The first time I watched this I didnt even know about the cursed shackles and didnt notice the black marks peeking out, I assumed there were injuries or scars under the bandages, but I still managed to feel that San Lang was upset about them. Nice job animators! Also I like that the painting here looked more...realistic? Actually looks like paint on paper and something that San Lang can do with the limited supplies they have in the shrine, instead of you know, a digital drawing that was printed and hanged like it is in the manhua. The manhua version still looks gorgeous, but I also like the donghua painting for its simplicity

Omg, I use this same song for them. I also swap the 1000 years to 800 years too. lmao In my head the first verse is Xie Lian's pov and the second verse is Hua Cheng's pov, and the entire chorus is Hua Cheng's pov. There's another song I like to think of for them. Bryan Adam's Everything I do, I do It For You. Like damn, this is like the literal Hua Cheng right there.

I can't count how many times I watched this episode and cried 😭

Towards Xie Lian, yes, it makes my heart melt. BUT, I don't like how he is a dick to others (barring Xie Lian). Imagine having a friend like that in real life who is an ass to everyone but you. It'd get annoying, fast. Pretty sure plenty of people will disagree with me because they feel Hua Cheng has every right to be a jerk (insert reasons why), but yeah. Aside from this minor gripe, I like him a lot. And I'm not trying to attack you, just wanted to vent, haha. ^^;
