In this Bollywood Hungama exclusive interview with Content Head Broadband Faridoon Shahryar, master director Sanjay Leela Bhansali talks about his film 'Bajirao Mastani'. He opens up about the struggles he faced while trying to put the project together since 2003. He also reveals how some of the greatest directors like Manmohan Desai, Muzaffar Ali etc also tried to make a film on Bajirao's love for Mastani. He praises Eros International for spending a bomb on the film and also says that Ranveer Singh has achieved stardom with this film. He surprises as he tells how he spends hours to perfect each and every shot and can go to any lengths. He also reveals the film education given by his father when he showed him films like 'Mughal-E-Azam', 'Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje' as well as Dada Kondke entertainers. He praises writer Prakash Kapadia's dialogues that have stayed with the audiences. He also narrates how he had narrated some of the scenes of the film to Rani Mukerji when she was shooting with him for 'Black'. He then tells that he feels relieved and satisfied with the encouraging response to the film by Maharashtrians. He talks highly of his lead actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. He speaks highly of Priyanka Chopra and tells how he convinced her to play the role of Kashibai. He then praises Bajirao's progressive and secular mindset. He tells how his childhood influences played a big role in making him produce mass entertainers like 'Rowdy Rathore' and 'Gabbar Is Back'. He then talks about what he'll like to do next. Don't miss!

15:25 I agree with him on a high level. Though I am a Afghan myself but I highly connect with the classical Indian music and sher aur shayri. Its my culture too and I am so happy to see someone like SLB keeping it alive for people like us. Thank you so much.
Brilliant film making worthy of being watched many times over. Watched it 6 times and counting, wish it never went out of theaters and runs for years like DDLJ. And yes, Deepika was amazing, the best part of the movie and I don't know why everyone finds her performance lacking.

+Namrata Uchil Priyanka was the best part of the film as Kashibai she lived her character to the fullest as well as ranveer was brilliant n deepika was nice also but not amazing n tanvi azmi was awesome as well

Priyanka as Kashibai is the best part of the movie as well as ranveer as Bajirao while i absolutely loved kashibai superbly

we happy to see Ranver( super talented,Verstyle)✌💞💞 actor play Bajirao Rule ,at first banslai want salman but salman acting averge👎 he can never ever such a wonderful act as Ranveer acted super👍👍👍 as Bajirao
people remember bajiroa mastani bcoz of salman otherwise nobody care about it ...

+Naveed Ahmed Bajirao Mastani got Ranveer Singh and other actors so much acclaim, it was a box office success, it will be remembered and will always be better than fun but average films like Dilwale.

+MrAwsomeness45 No matter what these new actors will never get the cult fan following like khans they ruled the bollywood for more than two decades and its not easy to maintain the stardom as they maintained. still ruling

I know that the stardom Khans have achieved is very hard to get. However, that does not mean we don't appreciate what these new crop of actors are doing. These are the superstars of the future, Khans like SRK will not rule forever if he makes more nonsense like Happy New Year and Dilwale. A Bajirao Mastani is always more memorable than a Dilwale or a Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. I respect your opinion but you should respect these new generation actors. I do not care if you don't agree with me but my opinion will not change. Khans are great but even they have done horrible movies. I know these new generation actors have also done some poor movies but learn to also look at the great side please, Varun Dhawan's Badlapur could not have been acted that well by someone else.
