Very few people notice the fact that Kumar Sangakkara has the 2nd most runs in history of international cricket after the great Sachin Tendulkar. He also has 63 international centuries ( 4th highest of all time after Sachin, Kohli and Ponting). He has a triple century in test, holds the record for 4 consecutive centuries in ODI history (never even equalled till date) and has been one of the best wicket keepers of his generation. Whenever we talk about all time greats of the game, we take various names but how often we ignore this man. Sangakkara is one of the best ever players in cricketing history to have played this sport. Period...

Kohli played the same match-winning knock for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup as Sangakkara did in 2014. Both legends, Kohli and Rohit, retired from T20 cricket with a World Cup victory, mirroring how Sangakkara and Mahela retired from T20 with a World Cup win. Legends of the game got what they deserved. ✌❤

As an Indian, I have no hesitation in admitting that SL deserved this trophy more than anyone else. Being one of the best teams of the early 21st century, it was a shame that they always finished on the wrong side in the knock out stages of ICC tournaments for nearly 8 years. Finally it was in 2014, that they won the trophy. Well played Sri Lanka.

When they talk about rivalry they're talking about current BD & SL team, both of them are in same position and both of them are trash. Today's SL team is not even 1/3 of the team that they used to be in 2010s. Also, BD beat SL in the last two ODI series and beat them in the WC. So that's gotta account for something

But that doesn't mean Sri Lanka is a minnow team. In any sport, any team can lose to any other team - that's the beauty of competition. For example, the Netherlands have beaten South Africa several times, but that doesn't mean there's a rivalry between them. It's often the media that creates hype, which leads people to believe there's a rivalry where there isn't one. Sad reality, indeed.
