The fact that Philip could do this role and play Capote in the same year and then the villain in Mission Impossible 3 is astounding to me. The man had amazing range.

Every Philip Seymour Hoffman scene in this movie is Oscar worthy.

I know he's done some epic roles, but this will always be my favorite. He just plays this character so well and really made it into something special.

I adore this movie it’s very underrated

That last "you're God-damnd right I am" almost brings a tear to the eye. PSH will always be missed. A true master. You can see so many other actors turning this role into a steaming heap. And here PSH is nearly making you weep.

Him suddenly singing Jesus´s part is so low key genius and hilarious. His mannerisms during the song make me laugh every time.

This was the first role I ever saw him in so I just assumed he was the next Chris Farley, then later when I saw him in MI:3 I was like “wow he really took a turn.” Nope, just an incredible actor.

I've worked with TONS of people like this, using their Voice to amplify their fake clearing their throat to make their "Presence" felt and to draw attention to their selves in such a Juvenile way.

Stole every scene he was in. Genius.

The movie is essentially disposable except for his performance - he knew exactly what he was doing, chewing up the scenery through and through. God damn, he really was one of the greatest ever. RIP!

I love how Sandy pulled it off in the end. RIP PSH.

There are some roles that you can't picture anyone else doing, and this is a perfect example of that. His timing slipping on the dance floor was impeccable, Stiller and Hoffman's chemistry was undeniable. Thank you for sharing your talent with us, you are missed by all. Thanks

As it turns out, that’s true!! Sandy was originally written in mind to be played by Jack Black. Regardless, PSH knocked it out of the park. To be honest, if it wasn’t for his standout performance, I probably would’ve forgotten about this movie a long time ago.

I can remember particular movies with old girlfriends or even dates with a particular movie. I dated an Irish girl named Noreen and we went to see Memphis Belle many years ago. Harry Connick Jr sang Danny Boy and I looked over at her and she was sobbing. Adorably homesick. The girl I really loved told me early on that her favorite movie was The Pianist. The Germans make their victims lay down face first and shoot them in the head one by one. I said this is your favorite movie? She was beautiful and nerdy and unpredictable. I think thats what attracted me so much. My advice is to go make new memories! Thats all we get to keep in the end. GL!
